Mrs Clift

This house was perfect for our large family group including teenagers, grandparents and dogs! The games room and hot tub were a big hit with all ages. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and spacious. This beautiful house provided plenty of space for everyone- inside and outside, huge tables which allowed everyone to enjoy eating together, a fabulous position (opposite the beach, short walk to restaurants, ferry, bigger beach etc) with no need to use a car all week, and stunning views.

Mrs Dyne

Fantastic location, good sized house to accommodate our family of 12. Parking for more than 2 cars was difficult. We did not take a dog although we had considered it. Think it would be better to be a dog free property. We would definitely like to return.

Mrs Avis

Wonderful location, great for swimming. Plenty of room for a family gathering.

Mr Price

Don’t want to be negative, just hope that issues can be addressed for future bookers.

Mrs Brooks

I have just returned from 'The Minton's' after spending a lovely long weekend there with my family (11 of us) celebrating my 70th birthday.
It was a lovely house, very well looked after and cared for with lots of finishing touches.
The location is perfect, overlooking the sea.
The hot tub and garage were a bonus, and to be able to have the heating on at any time was outstanding. ((Although it actually caused disagreements between us as nobody wanted it on except me! (As it seemed to be a very warm house).
The very long table in the dining room was brilliant (seating 14 people) but I'm not sure the lounge would seat that many, although there was the use of some bean bags, and the blankets were useful should you need them.
Nothing seemed too much trouble for the agents and the owner.
So overall I would definitely recommend it!

Miss Stranack

We have just had our 5 night stay at Mintons for my mums 50th. For a large family ranging from the age of 2 to 75, Mintons was the perfect cottage for us! The decor throughout the house is just amazing, I would not change a thing, every room was so beautifully designed. My mum had the room on the top floor of the loft which she absolutely loved, the best views and a super king size bed was just what she asked for. The location was fantastic: I took my 2 year old to the small zoo up the road which was worth a visit. We also had 3 dogs with us and the location for walks was spot on with the beach across the road and so many locations around us such as Dawlish and Torquay within a 10 min drive. We enjoyed spending our evenings on the bottom floor games room which all ages enjoyed. Honestly perfect!
The ONLY things I would suggest for the owners for the future is that the garden isn't dog friendly as there is nothing closed off and with a road nearby we had to be very careful as the dogs can easily jump over the wall.
The kitchen doesn't have much cupboard space for food and with a family of 13 it was very crammed with our food. However the extra fridge on the bottom floor is very handy!
Also the sky in the games room did not work. Only small things so we would definitely come back. Thank you.

Mrs Bird

Our holiday house was changed 1 week before our break and although this wasn’t our first choice Mintons was absolutely perfect the house was amazing and we all settled in very quickly with plenty of space for all of us comfy beds bathrooms and showers were amazing we soon got the hang of the oven enjoying the view when relaxing in the living area the hot tub was great to relax in and the games room was enjoyed listening to a bit of music the location was excellent the beach baker cafes pubs shops all just a stroll away amazing shaldon is a great welcoming place and loved the ferry over to Teignmouth didn’t want to leave this holiday house and location also having the Wi-Fi was a bonus along with parking for two vehicles

Mrs Weir

This is a very quirky house with beautiful views over the estuary. The beds were very comfortable. We had lots of fun in the games room.

Mr Warman

An amazing property. We planned a lazy week with friends here and it 100% delivered. All the rooms were large, well decorated and catered for a large group. We loved the hot tub, and it was nice to have a dining table to comfortably sit 10+. I'd definitely recommend and will likely book again.

Mrs Shaw

Definitely recommend this property for a family holiday.
Plenty of bedrooms/ bathrooms/ TVs
Big dining table with plenty of seating for our family of 10, no one was trapped !
Lovely views
Nice outdoor space with hot tub
Garage with parking for two biggish cars, huge bonus !
Great location, no steep hills to walk up !
Everything you need is close by.
Great communication with the owners.
Our family ages from 2 to 64, all had a wonderful holiday here.

Mrs Jenkins

Mintons is in a fabulous location. Spacious, bright and comfortable. Ideal for large group. New extended loft is beautiful but still needs finishing touches. More practical elements (eg bathroom shelves, bins, larger sinks in new en-suites, general storage) would be welcome.

Mrs Cunniffe

Excellent location, wonderful views and a very comfortable house to stay in.

Mrs Jamieson

Shaldon is a lovely village, and the location of the house within it is great. On several days, we didn't use the car at all, as it is very easy to walk to the beach, to excellent local pubs / restaurants, to excellent "crabbing" locations, and to the foot ferry to Teignmouth.

Excellent to be able to park both cars under the house. The house has plenty of space, and the layout of the living area is ideal. The bedrooms are all pleasant, although the furnishings in one room are inadequate.

Mrs Fairey

We were disappointed with our stay at Mintons. When we arrived we soon discovered that only the en-suite toilet was working and the other two toilets were broken and unusable. After contacting the owner numerous times about this, a plumber was finally sent out four days into our stay but unfortunately couldn’t fix either toilet. The final offer of a 10% refund to compensate this was disappointing and we feel very dissatisfied with this outcome.
There were also issues with cleanliness in some areas of the property and also an issue with the outside bins which were almost full on arrival and quite smelly. The only place to keep them is right next to the bbq which we thought was not very hygienic. We did put them outside the gate but was asked politely by the neighbour to move them back into the courtyard as they looked unsightly on the path. The bins were not emptied during our stay.

Shaldon is a lovely place to stay, the food at The Clipper Cafe, The London Inn & The Ferry Boat Inn was top quality, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We also liked the bakery, fish and chip shop and the butchers.
There are many things to do in Shaldon, we enjoyed the visiting the zoo, botanical gardens, crabbing and walking across the bridge to Teignmouth and catching the ferry back to Shaldon.

Mrs Thomas

Mr Willoughby

A truly grand property with spacious rooms and tasteful decoration. The garage is a real bonus too. Great location with lovely views. Short walks to basic shops and good cafes. The ferry to Teignmouth (less than 5 minutes and only a short walk from The Mintons) is quite a novelty, saves a car journey and the hassle of finding somewhere to park.

Mrs Williams

A beautiful, highly decorated. Right on the river-front, close to the bridge connecting Shaldon with Teignmouth. The house is of a very high standard: bedding, towels, etc., were of high quality. Kitchen equipped with everything you could possibly need. The garage is spacious enough for our two, largish cars.
Televisions in each bedroom as well as the lounge. Dining table big enough for a large group. The 'Peacock' wall covering, in the dining room, is phenomenal.
The house is close to all necessary amenities. The 'Ness' is only a short, 15 min walk (slightly uphill), with the small zoo (worth a visit), just a bit further on. Lovely pubs and coffee shops. The ferry boat goes from the beach across the estuary to Teignmouth, regularly. You just need to check the last sailing times.
I will mention that the bathrooms could do with a glass shelf above the sinks (for toiletries) and somewhere to hang damp bath towels, hooks on the doors, toilet roll holders, as all these things would save guests from having to put everything on the floor! All in all though, a beautiful place to stay.

Mrs Morley

Fantastic week at Mintons the views and the house are both stunning. Can’t fault this property privilege to stay here. The village location is perfect with many pubs and shops on the doorstep.

Mrs Crofts

We had a lovely time thank you. House was simply stunning and at a perfect location. Would love to come back.

Mrs Sanis

Mintons is a really lovely house that delighted all our family. It is so comfortable with the best beds and pillows, beautiful sofa towels and comfortable chairs. The games room was wonderful for the teenagers. The interesting decoration, the cleanliness and fully equipped kitchen was so much appreciated. Good parking for two smallish cars. Views over the water were a joy and a very short walk to an excellent pub a bonus.

Mr Morgan

Fantastic location, lovely little village with some nice pubs.
House is great, really felt at home

Mrs Smith

We had a wonderful weeks stay at Mintons. The location was fabulous. Right next to a beach, where we watched wonderful sunrises and sunsets.
The village of Shaldon, has lovely restaurants and shops. I would Recommend booking restaurants ahead, they are very popular. We also did paddle boarding and kayaking from the main beach at Shaldon.
The house was fully equipped and catered for all our needs. A nice touch of coffee, milk and wine left for us on arrival.
I Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back again soon.

Mr. Flewitt

Spacious property
Games room
Comfy beds
TVs with Sky etc
Piping hot water in showers
Tasteful decor
Fabulous views
Close to local amenities with great little shops - bakery, butcher, coffee shop, pubs, grocery store and Post Office.
Not enough bedroom storage - bedside tables etc
Welcome pack - we have had some fabulous things left to welcome us to our holiday properties in the past. At Mintons it was wine and a bag of coffee - nice but quite basic, a pint of milk and some butter could be provided at least…thoughtful ideas make a BIG difference.
The booking in and out times have been changed to ensure deep cleaning/airing (written on your website), due to COVID. The house had not been cleaned/checked to the standard we expect and had paid for!
For example some furniture was incredibly dusty, we found things underneath furniture that had been left by previous occupants - a dirty sock, cigarette filters, half used hair product. There was part eaten ice cream in freezer, another sock in washing machine, lots of built up debris at back of sofa, floors not fully clean so impossible to walk around without dirtying socks, plates and cups in cupboard not clean, compost caddy very unhygienic as no bags supplied, hand soap in en-suite watered down!
Surely there is a list of EVERYTHING that needs completing and checking on changeover day??
Hot tap in en-suite faulty.
Downstairs toilet didn’t flush properly.
Odd mixture of kitchen utensils - electric whisk but no cheese grater??
Chest of drawers in bedroom 1 - handles missing, drawers very rickety.

Mr Bates

This is a lovely home from home, great view and convenient for all village access.
Garage parking was very useful, but a bit tight for larger vehicles.

Mr Ryder

Happy for you to quote all the above comments.

Mr Sibthorp

Outstanding cottage in a great location. Everything in walking distance, fantastic views and a beautifully appointed property. For a place with all wooden floors the sound proofing was excellent. The private courtyard entrance to the double garage was ideal. We had two medium sized SUVs which fitted in the garage without an issue. The games/utility room on the ground floor is perfect for throwing your beach stuff in and so prevents bringing any sand etc. into the house. We had a lot of fun with the pool table while watching the Euros. Overall, this is a great cottage with four great sized bedrooms and a very spacious downstairs living area. We would rebook this property in a heartbeat.

Mr Hutchinson

Amazing place and beautiful location.
Would love to live there as it is so peaceful and relaxing and nearby facilities were also easily accessible.
Locals very friendly and a pleasure to have stayed there.
Top marks.

Mr Waldron

We loved our stay at the Mintons, it is probably the best home in the very best location in Shaldon, which is a beautiful little English coastal village. The views are fantastic and there are some great pubs between 1 to 5 minutes walk away. I would highly recommend this place.

Mrs Greenway

I couldn't believe the view from this house was just as in the pictures, and in fact everything was just as in the pictures. It was very large and roomy, but not cold. It was extremely well furnished and equipped. The Wifi was excellent and we were able to watch Netflix so the kids were happy. We did lots of walks straight from the house, and had dinner at the London Inn (excellent) and Clipper Cafe which was also good. The fish and chips from the local chippy were also excellent, but beware that eateries are not open on all nights.
