Reviews

Set within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the heart of East Sussex's 1066 countryside, Castlemans Stables West is one of a pair of sympathetically converted stable blocks, well-equipped and delightfully furnished, less than a 10 minute walk from the charming village of Sedlescombe which offers visitors 'gastro pub' dining at the Queens Head, a well-stocked village shop and a pretty village green edged by 16th Century half-timbered houses.

Castlemans Stables West, which sleeps up to four in two bedrooms providing guests with two bath/shower rooms, maintains a sense of its heritage with overhanging roofs, hayracks and stalls, together with a shared but intimate courtyard which captures the atmosphere of a country stables to perfection.

From its own private deck, the property offers guests uninterrupted views across fields and woodland giving a chance to slow down, take a breath and perhaps spot some of the local wildlife including deer and badgers.

At the front of the stables there is an enclosed area of lawn, which is shared with the neighbouring property, Castlemans Stables East. Sitting at the picnic bench on the lawn is the ideal spot to plan your day's adventure.

Castlemans Stables West can be booked with its neighbour Castlemans Stables East (4421).

Mr Millar

This is a super cottage. It is quiet and has beautiful countryside views. It is very well equipped, exceptionally clean, with nice friendly touches like the welcome basket of food for the first night. As a dog owner, we were grateful for the enclosed garden area. Highly recommended.

Ms Johnstone

A lovely comfortable cottage in idyllic surroundings. It is well equipped, is spotlessly clean, and has good quality furnishings and bedding. Ideally situated for many attractions, gardens, castles and the wonderful East Sussex and Kent coast. Overall one of the best cottages I have stayed in.

Mrs Bayes

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location for exploring East Sussex. Lovely walk from the cottage through the bluebell woods to the local vineyard for a nice spot of lunch. Also you can walk from the cottage to the local village and pub which does superb food. Thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Mrs Atkins

Delightful compact converted stables close to a lovely village with pub and stores. Quality furnishings and well maintained. Well equipped kitchen.

Dr Lutz-Kutschera

We did enjoy our stay a lot, especially the breakfasts on the lovely terrace.

Miss Richards

What a super find, we really enjoyed our short stay at the stables, a very comfy bed, lovely quality linens and a super walk in shower. Easy access to Battle where the beautiful Abbey is worth a visit, also Hastings old town was a lovely surprise with some great places to eat and a visit to Rye is a must. The village nearby is pretty and with a little shop and a pub, what more do you need, oh yes the wood burner was a delight on a very cold evening, Thank you.

Mr Whitehorn

Beautiful location and very comfortable cottage. Lovely village and walking distance to the pub with good food. Very dog friendly.

Mrs Rushworth

Our party of 4 adults and two dogs loved Castlemans Stables West. A peaceful location on a working farm (with livestock) and a short walk to village pub and shop. The cottage was very well-equipped and beds and sofas were very comfortable. We particularly liked the generous welcome hamper and the decking with patio table and chairs and BBQ.

Mrs Steadman

Beautiful location walking distance to the local pub excellent food.

Mr Beard

Nice central location, but feels remote. Clean and comfortable

Ms Serb

A very comfortable and well-appointed property in a brilliant location for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Ms Richards

Lovely location, perfectly clean and everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Views are stunning and the cottage decor very tasteful. Instructions and local information from the owner was excellent and very helpful to anyone first visiting the area.

Mrs Ball

This is an excellent dog friendly accommodation. The accommodation is spacious, very clean and well equipped with the provision of many unexpected things such as cleaning products, bathroom products, food hamper etc. and even beach towels. The decking and garden are lovely places to sit and relax and look out at the views. This accommodation is super dog friendly with beds, blankets, towels, bowls and treats being provided. There are fantastic off-lead walks on the doorstep, including the 4 mile bluebell walk. I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to dog owners or non dog owners.

Mrs Skinner

The cottage was lovely once you had found it! Any signage at the entrance would be helpful as the road outside can be busy and the entrance is concealed. Also you are sharing some areas with the other cottage so if you are taking dogs it could be an issue and the deck area is open so dogs can get out. The location is lovely and the village pub does lovely meals

Mrs Williams

Absolutely amazing- every little detail thought of! Even Christmas decorations! We had the best Christmas and will definitely return- thank you

Ms Walker

well positioned cottage for exploring the local attractions and the coast. lovely cottage with a great layout which was beautifully clean and well equipped. we would definitely return.

Mrs Bingham

Beautiful location and very nice, very clean, well-equipped cottages. We took both cottages (East and West) for four adults and two children, plus two dogs. The shared outdoor spaces are very generous and perfect for the children and dogs to play in. The views are wonderful, and there were a range of outdoor tables and benches to enjoy them from. The cottages are true to the pictures, beautifully decorated and it was nice having two bathrooms in each. The location is convenient for the coast and countryside, and the children enjoyed the steam trains and the castles as well as the beach.

Mrs Fretwell

The location of this accommodation is amazing and it was pristine. We could have quite easily spent a week there and only gone as far as the local walks and pub. Beautiful garden with sun most of the day.

Mr Scragg

Would not hesitate to recommend Classic Cottages or Castlemans Stables West. The photos on the website accurately reflect the current condition of the property.

Mrs Tompsett

Fantastic accommodation in a great setting, we couldn’t have asked for more from our stay!

Dr Stoate

The location is perfect for exploring that area.

Mrs Park

Very comfortable cottage with fine views across the fields and interesting places to visit nearby.

Ms McAllister

Just that it was a very attractive well thought out cottage, very comfortable and generously appointed. Would recommend.

Mrs Zdanowski

Lovely accommodation with comfortable beds! Quiet country setting local pub was good for a pint and supper.
