Fascinating property - very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Extremely well equipped. The paddock was an added bonus for exercising my daughter's young dog. The hamlet of West Dean is absolutely beautiful - lovely walks in to Friston Forest and up the steps to an amazing view over Cuckmere Haven. Enjoyed the little farm shop for apple juice and jam.
Mrs Darragh
Lovely place, location is amazing. Only thing that lets it down is the cleanliness.
Mr Knollys
Heringaud Barn was a perfect place for our holiday, in a wonderful setting, with excellent and varied walks in all directions. To be in such a secluded setting yet in walking distance of the sea, Alfriston and only a few minutes from a regular bus service made it an ideal base. It's thoughtfully furnished and laid out, and the small kitchen was better than expected. We enjoyed a tour of the historic site given by the owner.
Mrs Bryant
Ideal location for exploring the South Downs easy walk to coastline walks down to the Seven Sisters and beyond. If really hot and you have dogs nice shady walks with lots of trails through Friston forest. No need for car and car park charges
Ms Arnell
We had the most wonderful time at Heringaud. Such a tranquil place, in the heart of the countryside and perfect for a short break or longer peaceful holiday. The owners were very friendly and happy to show us round and the property was perfect for us. Thank you!
Mrs Wilson
Delightful stay in this very peaceful and well designed property. Perfectly placed for glorious walks along the coast, the South Downs and Cuckmere Valley, and close to lots of interesting cultural and historic sites including Charleston (Bloomsbury Group), Lewes (castle and galleries) and Eastbourne (Towner gallery).
Furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. Some equipment in the property could do with a slight upgrade but nothing that detracted from our holiday. We definitely plan to return.
Mrs Simpson
One star review awarded for the cottages peaceful and beautiful location. The property is completely let down by the poor cleanliness and standard of equipment provided. I would not recommend booking this cottage. Other Classic Cottages are of a much higher standard. The owner needs to change its cleaning company and upgrade some of the cottages facilities and equipment.
Mrs Woodford
Heringaud Barn was a delightful property. The cleanliness was exceptional.
The location of the barn was so peaceful. We explored the area and it's amazing dog walks too.
We would definitely recommend Heringaud Barn for countryside lovers.
Equally, its location meant it was not too far away from lovely Alfriston and Lewes etc!
Ms Simmonds
Our second visit. The most beautiful peaceful spot far away from the madding crowd (although only a 5 minute drive to the main road!).
Hope to return again!
Mrs Diamandis
Our break at Heringaud Barn was a wonderfully peaceful stay. Immaculately clean, warm and welcoming. Equipped with everything you could need and located in the centre of this quiet and historical village. The only traffic were the walkers en route of the many nearby trails. Our dog loved the large enclosed paddock for a sniff or ball game - perfect. And the WiFi was super fast and efficient which was a definite bonus. Can highly recommend and very much hope to return soon.
Mr Brennand
This is a lovely property in a great location. The facilities are excellent and having access to a BBQ, dishwasher, freezer, washer and tumble dryer made our stay highly convenient. We walked every day and can recommend using the 13 bus route from the Seven Sisters Visitor Centre to access Beachy Head and walk back along the cliffs. Another fantactic walk is over the fields to Alfriston and if you're feeling like you've got a bit extra in you, further on to Berwick and the excellent Cricketers Arms. When we had a problem with the WiFi it was fixed within the hour. Can't wait to book our return stay!
Mr Michell
Ideal location for those with dogs who enjoy walking. Local pub, Plough & Harrow, has good food and the local beer.
Mrs Jackson
An extremely peaceful and delightful hamlet. Heringaud Barn is light and airy and warm. The bed is very comfortable, and great reading lamps! We really enjoyed our stay.
Mrs Miller
Heringaud Barn has everything - pristine appearance and equipment, wonderful setting, sitting outside space with table and chairs and the paddock, safely fenced, for children to play in.
Mr Walker
We had a lovely stay in a beautiful, historic village with lots of wonderful walks. Heringaud Barn was well equipped, comfortable and cosy with lovely views. The owner was very helpful with useful advice. An incredibly peaceful location and would highly recommend. We hope to return!
Mr Giles
Very good
Mrs Bonville-Ginn
Lovely historic village in a good location.
The property has a cramped kitchen, tired looking furniture and tight access in and out of the drive.
Showers and beds ok.
Nice produce in the farm shop.
