Many happy memories are just waiting to be made at Tre Lowen Chy, also known as 6 Wheal Ayr Terrace. Its Cornish name, meaning 'the joyful house,' perfectly reflects the experience awaiting you. Sleeping up to seven guests over three floors in three bedrooms, this beautifully furnished house is perfect for a family getaway in a contemporary home from home, providing lots of space and various bed configurations to suit adults and children. The separate snug room offers younger guests a place to enjoy time together playing games, while the adults relax in the semi-open plan living area with a bottle of wine, or two, after a BBQ in the rear courtyard. There is a true sense of luxury flowing throughout, and the addition of the on-site parking makes staying here even easier. Set in an elevated position, yet only a 10 minute stroll down to the centre of St Ives town and it's beautiful harbour, or the world class surfing beach of Porthmeor, the Tate Gallery, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the South West Coastal Path. You can spend the day dining at the local cafes and restaurants, surfing or sunbathing on the golden, sandy beaches, before hopping on to one of the local boat trips to pay a visit to Seal Island, where you may even spot a dolphin or two.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Taylor

The property was cleaned to an excellent standard. The downstairs was beautiful, the free flowing layout was lovely with children and a dog. I did like the downstairs bathroom after being on the beach all day. All the bedrooms were beautifully finished just needs a few new furniture items. This would benefit from a welcome basket for when you arrive. The Wii doesn’t work as all the discs have been scratched so won’t recognise them. The extra touches of a tent, folding chairs, crabbing net, beach items was lovely as we didn’t have to buy them. I would highly recommend this property to anyone and will definitely be staying again.

Mrs Hilton-Clements

Property overall satisfactory and matches photos for the interior. The property is close to the beach and town.

It is really not realistic to say this property comes with parking - the extreme tightness of the opposing wall outside the property makes parking even a small car extremely time consuming and difficult, and not worth the hassle if you intend to take the car out and about on day trips during your stay to explore the area.

The windows could do with a refresh as they do not shut properly meaning it’s quite loud all the time with seagulls and traffic noise.

Some of the kitchen equipment was in need of an update.

Tre Lowen Chy is a good sized property which is well equipped and nicely decorated. A bonus being the parking space which will fit a medium sized car.

Mrs Whitbread

Great stay at Tre Lowen Chy! It is beautifully furnished and has everything you need. Good location for walking into St Ives and has the bonus of a car parking space. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will would book again to stay here.

Mrs Hanson

Great family friendly house. Great location with parking. Lovely swimming pool and restaurant at the nearby caravan park ( literally across the road open to non residents they do a great Sunday roast ) Local shop a couple of blocks away that sell almost everything. We had a fabulous week, met up with family and grandsons were in the sea everyday. They are tough northerners !!!!

Mrs Morris

Great location. Very clean. Lovely house with good sized rooms.

Very tight parking space - small car only if you want the gates closed.
Lovely cottage - will definitely visit again.

Mr Hume

We booked this property as it was in a good location and looked modern and had parking.
The house is within walking distance to beach and amenities but is located on a very busy road so gets quite noisy. It was nicely decorated but wasn’t clean, there were black dog hairs everywhere and unclean bedding plus very uncomfortable mattresses. The sofa smelt bad and we found an old dirty sock from previous houseguests -not pleasant when the price to stay here is quite high would not recommend staying here.

Mrs Williams

The holiday home was lovely and we will be booking to visit again.
We parked in the allocated space in a Renault Kadjar and closed the gates. It was a squeeze, but not too bad.
The actual house was amazing - super comfortable and well equipped. The decor was lovely and we had plenty of room.
Everything was within a 10 min walk (involving hills), but we liked the exercise. The caravan park on the same road - Ayr Holiday Park- has parking if you can’t get in the space, plus a swimming pool and restaurant that can be used by non-guests.
The Spa Shop is a 6 min walk and the small shop - Ayr Rd supplies is even closer for all the quick necessities.100% recommend.

Mr Cole

Fantastic place to stay in st ives. Everything was spotlessly clean, we was unable to park the car at the property it’s a very small space but this wouldn’t stop us staying here in the future, we just parked across the road at the campsite for the week (small fee) Would definitely recommend staying here. There’s a very steep hills down to the beach which would be difficult if you had mobility problems.

Mr Jordan

Property and location is very good, property has very good facilities and is very clean. Although parking is greatly appreciated, it’s very tricky to get to through a narrow alleyway at the back, making it very difficult to turn into the property even with a small car. St Ives is very lovely, however also very dog friendly, which is good unless you wish to eat in a pub/restaurant that doesn’t allow dogs, I personally prefer to eat on a premises without dogs due to hygiene and allergy reasons.

Mrs Hobbs

Fantastic accommodation, had everything we needed. Car park space was a little tricky if you’re not confident with tight spaces. A bit further out of town but a quick 10 minute walk to anywhere we wanted to get.

Mr Lyons

A superb property as described and a real home from home which made for a relaxing and very enjoyable stay. Location is nice balance of being slightly up out of town centre but still offering close access to it and the main Porthmere beach (but if you’ve not visited before St.Ives it is hilly).
Just be aware parking is not easy as via narrow rear lane and the entrance to rear area of property is awkward due to wall opposite and width of entrance even with gates tied right back. I advise only suitable for one decent sized car parked at an angle if you want to close gates for privacy. If you have a second car I recommend using St. Ives Rugby Club a few minutes drive up the road. Good day and week rates.

Miss Lyne

A great house - very comfortable for up to 7 people. The house has been renovated to a very high standard - the beds and sofas are really comfortable. It had absolutely everything we needed and more.

It’s located on the hill behind state Modern. It’s a steep climb back but the no. 1 bus goes right past the house. It stopped at 6 as we visited out of season but I’m sure it’ll run later during high season.

The house comes with parking but unless you’ve got a small car it’s not useable. We’ve got a BMW X2 which we got in but couldn’t shut the gates behind us which isn’t very secure. We parked at the caravan site directly opposite for only £6 a day good value and very convenient. They said they provide parking all year round. It wouldn’t put us off booking this house again.

Miss New

Lovely spacious property with clean and modern decoration which made our stay pleasant and comfortable. Parking space although small was a great asset. Bit of a trek up and down the hill especially if you have a dodgy hip like me. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

Mrs Hughes

We had a lovely time, the house was very comfortable and well decorated. Thank you, Belinda

Mrs Chandler

We had a fantastic stay at Tre Lowen Chy ! It was so comfortable and fitted the 6 of us with plenty of space. Lovely touches for children with the board games , plastic tableware and fab accessories in the kids bedroom! The house was one of the best we have had the pleasure of staying in and Aspects were so easy to deal with. We will most definitely book again with them. Thank you. Mrs Fenton

Just spent a great week in St.Ives staying at the wonderful Tre Lowen Chy, with the sun shining everyday. Tre Lowen Chy is a very comfortable house with ample space to relax. It is beautifully furnished with great attention to detail. Careful maneouvring into the rear parking space is required as space in the access road is tight. Great location to walk into St.Ives and venture on coastal walks.
