Reviews
Nestled within the wild and rugged beauty of Dartmoor National Park, Urgles Farmhouse is surrounded by its own wildflower filled fields and grazing Belted Galloway cattle, offering a peaceful retreat where guests can slow down, reconnect with nature and embrace the changing seasons. Combining traditional farmhouse character with stylish modern touches, including contemporary lighting, charming patchwork bedspreads and carefully selected furnishings, this welcoming hideaway provides the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy the Devon countryside. Once discovered, Urgles Farmhouse is sure to become a favourite escape for both guests and their four-legged companions.

Step through the original front door and leave the everyday behind. This is a home where you can settle in and enjoy the simple pleasures of a countryside escape. Spend evenings gathered around the dining-table sharing stories and planning tomorrow's adventures, or curl up with a good book or favourite film as the wood-burner brings warmth and cosiness to the room.

The characterful kitchen is a real talking point, featuring free-standing Paul Metalcraft aluminium units and beautiful slate flagstone flooring. Spacious and well-equipped, it gives the family chef plenty of room to rustle up a hearty Sunday roast, bake something delicious or prepare a feast after a day exploring the moors.

As night falls, step outside and look up. With little light pollution, Dartmoor's star-filled skies are a sight to behold making a spot of stargazing an absolute must before heading upstairs to discover the three inviting bedrooms.
Each bedroom retains its original charm with wide floorboards and one featuring a beautiful ornamental fireplace. Bedroom one offers a flexible 'zip and link' bed, which can be arranged as either a super-king or twin, while bedroom two features a comfortable double and bedroom three is a delightful twin which can also be made up as another super-king. Waking up here is a pleasure; from the sound of birdsong, views across the surrounding Dartmoor landscape and the sight of wild ponies grazing.

The farmhouse also boasts a rather special family bathroom, with traditional character. The beautiful cast-iron bath has been thoughtfully encased creating a real focal point, even the toilet seat is worth a second look for its wonderful carpentry! Generously sized, the bathroom also benefits from a separate shower cubicle, perfect for speeding up those busy mornings before heading out to explore the moors. And there's no need to worry about queues, as a handy second toilet can be found in the utility-room just off the kitchen.

Outside, the gardens wrap around the farmhouse offering plenty of space to enjoy the fresh country air. The front garden is perfect for a summer barbecue, a relaxed afternoon in the sunshine or a chilled sundowner as the evening draws in. Set out on walks from the front gate directly onto a very peaceful part of the moor with many interesting birds, ponies and roaming deer. Or explore the ancient Oak woodland, climb a tor or two with views of the sea and a wonderful rushing river with fabulous, secluded pools for a spot of wild swimming - all within easy walking distance.

One final thing to remember; when you venture out to explore, please ensure all gates are closed behind you, otherwise you may find a few unexpected hoofed visitors dropping by where your herding skills will be put to the test.
