Welcome to The Retreat, a gorgeous family holiday home, nestled in the beautiful village of Shaldon. Shaldon and The Retreat offer something special for all ages, from the sandy beach right on your doorstep, numerous pubs and fine dining options within walking distance, to a rather special wildlife zoo, again, in walking distance.

Park the car and throw away the keys, unload your bags and prepare to make some very special holiday memories. Your location is second to none, whether it's lazy days on the beach, adventure and action, or slinking back and relaxing in your beautifully furnished lower ground apartment, The Retreat and Shaldon have it all to offer.

You do have everything you need for that special holiday at your disposal on your doorstep, however, to venture further afield to enjoy all the wonders of south Devon which surround you is a must. Villages and towns such as Dartmouth, Brixham, Totnes and many more are within a very short drive away. All offering something very special, guaranteeing that memorable family day out. Or perhaps a day out shopping in the Cathedral City of Exeter sounds more like it, if so a pleasurable car journey will find you in the centre of this shopping heaven. Not forgetting that the glorious hot spots of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Bigbury are under one hour away. To explore the magic of south Devon is a must.

If exploration and rambling is what you seek, a trip to Dartmoor is a real treat. Mingling with the Dartmoor ponies as you meander through the glorious moors is a memory to treasure. Topping off the day with a spot of good food and light refreshment in one of the welcoming pubs you come across, what a perfect way to finish the day.

Returning to The Retreat is such a pleasure. The splendid open plan living design allows you to all dine, eat and play together in comfort and style, whilst the beautiful bedrooms provide the perfect escape to retire to after a full and action-packed day.

Mr Cooper

We had issues with drainage at this property and poor WiFi. We reported this to Classic who resolved the drainage issue. To get to the car parking area at the back of the property is tight. We used a smaller car which was fine for us. The property is in a great location which was busy at weekends with people visiting the area. Some great pubs nearby. Everything was within walking distance in Shaldon village from the property. The property is furnished well with everything you need. The property is the lower apartment so no good views of the estuary. Welcome pack, in our opinion, could have been better.

Mrs Cogger

The property is in a pleasant, bustling village and is very close to the river/sea with local amenities nearby. It is spacious and nicely furnished with good quality decor.
However, the TV is not connected to satellite/aerial and therefore has no live TV channels - it just has streaming apps.
The wi-fi in the property is not the one listed in the information pack provided in the lounge - Classic Cottages have the details, so you will need to contact them.
The property directly above seems to have a hard floor and no sound proofing, so any movement upstairs creates a lot of noise.

Mr Sambell

We enjoyed our stay at the Retreat.
The apartment was immaculate and fitted out to a very high standard. The beds were comfortable and there is plenty of room in the living area. The only issue we had was that the TV is not set up with any channels and there are no instructions in the welcome pack. The property manager explained that it only works through WiFi streaming but you have to set it up yourself.
Apart from that we had a great holiday and enjoyed the luxury of the apartment.
