Reviews

There are fabulous views over the sailing waters around St Mawes from both the garden and first floor living-room of this contemporary eco-house, set on the edge of St Just in Roseland on the beautiful Roseland peninsula. Looking out over green fields to the sea beyond, the wonderful sight of yachts clustering on the water in summer races and frothing waves in winter winds will prove fascinating to watch and guaranteed to delight.

Unassuming from the approach road, Chyandour looks part of a terrace of small Victorian cottages but once you’ve turned downhill and into the quiet cul-de-sac at the rear of the terrace you see the unexpected sight of a row of tall, timber-clad modern houses with peaked apex rooflines and glass-fronted balconies. Big rooms, high ceilings and an open plan living area make this a wonderfully hospitable holiday home, perfect for families and couples alike.

There are delightful creekside and coastal walks nearby, beaches galore and the iconic sailing town of St Mawes, with its fabulous restaurants, shops and galleries, just a five minute drive away.

Steps lead up from the parking-area to a smooth green lawn bordered with colourful shrubs and a patio set with outdoor dining furniture and a barbecue, a wonderful spot for family feasts on mellow summer evenings.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Binyon

Chyandour is in an excellent location and has beautiful views over Mylor Harbour and the sunsets from the West facing balcony! It is clean, very well maintained and extremely comfortable. It has everything you might need for a holiday on the Roseland, I tried to think of something they had missed and no, I couldn't come up with anything! We have stayed in many cottages over the years in Cornwall and this was was the best we have had the pleasure of staying in. We tried to extend our stay but it was booked for the following week! We will see you next year!

Mrs Preece

A beautiful well equipped cottage with wonderful sea views and amazing sunsets. There are Lovely beaches and coves nearby with plenty of places to eat and have a drink with a view.

Mrs Hansen

What an amazing holiday cottage! The space is amazing and the view is breathtaking. We stayed as a group of six and there was more than enough space. The decor was lovely and it felt very much like a home from home. We would love to come and stay again. Highly recommend!

Ms Savege

Beautiful house, for very mobile adults, with no children or pets.

Mrs Townsend

A wonderful well appointed property with a great view from the balcony. Fixtures & fittings are of a high standard, the beds are extremely comfortable & the lounge / living area upstairs was perfect for evenings in

Mr Johnson

Lovely accommodation, there is everything you need to enjoy your time staying there. The view (especially at sunset) is spectacular and the way the house set up is great. Amazing church just a very short walk downhill, bit steep coming back up - but well worth a visit. The only slight downside is there isn't a pub within 10/15 walk, loads of nice ones within 10 minute drive though - we knew this before we booked though.

Mr Rees

The welcome pack was very welcome. On the day we arrived the sun was shining. We sat on the balcony taking in the wonderful view of the rolling hills and the creek. The house was well equipped with everything we needed for a weeks holiday. Comfortable beds with white Cotton sheets & nice fluffy towels. A well kept garden with good garden furniture. Short walk to a lovely cafe selling all things nice. The only downside in our opinion is the bathrooms, they need upgrading & unfortunately smell really damp.

Mr Sullivan

This is a really lovely home in a perfect location for exploring walks nearby, St Mawes, Portscatho and with King Harry Ferry nearby for ease access to the west of Cornwall. Very comfortable and homely. Regrettably the house was quite dusty on arrival with dead flies on the floor. We have 2 dogs so we're always conscious to hoover and keep places we're visiting clean of hair and dust, so it was a shame that some areas hadn't been cleaned for a long time, let alone recently. All that said, we would definitely go back, it's a lovely home. I can't remember if the description mentioned it but beware the open tread staircase, one of our dogs wouldn't touch it and carrying him up and down got tiring!

Mr Lamper

We always use Classic cottages as you are guaranteed a really good property that comes exactly as described

Mrs Slade

The property is extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped and it easily accommodated 4 adults and a large dog. The views are fantastic and there is a lovely teashop a short walk from the property. A scenic walk along the coast path will take you into St Mawes, where there are lots of restaurants and shops. There is also a ferry in St Mawes which will take you over to Falmouth, where there are lots more shops and restaurants; including a cinema. We had a fantastic week at Chyandour and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful holiday away from it all. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Mrs Hart

We had a lovely family holiday the property exceedef our expectations and the view from the balcony was fabulous. Had everything in the property you would need a bbq in the garden if you didnt want to eat out every night and a garden to enjoy. You do need a car to get anywhere especially if you want to eat out in the evenings as there is no pubs in walking distance. But apart from that a beautiful property.

Mr Wright

Good

Miss Mayne

We loved everything about the property with the stunning views and peaceful setting however it would have been nice to have a couple of pubs in walking distance as St Mawes is about 2 miles away long a busy road with no pavement or walking the coastal path through fields. Neither of which is suitable of an evening. There is a bus service for St Mawes you need to stand next to the telephone box and the last one in is 6:45pm. Also to be noted that its very difficult to get taxis during the evening. So its OK if you're happy to drive everywhere. It would be handy to have these details in the accommodation as we were unsure where the coastal path started from and also the Bus timetable.

Mrs Crosby

This cottage was everything we expected, & more….. We were 4 adults, 2 children 10 & 12 years old, plus large German Shepherd aged 5!!!! There was room for everyone. The property was lovely, clean airy & well equipped….. The views were spectacular. The surrounding countryside was glorious. Perfect in ever way for autumn half term break….. ??

Mrs Jarvis

Beautiful house, brilliant view, great location. Would definitely stay again.

Mr Lamper

Absolutely fantastic cottage, has everything you need and is so peaceful. Highly recommend

Ms Lansdell

This property exceeded our expectations in terms of facilities, comfort, location and the view! We hope to return next year.

Mrs Williams

would highly recommend despite our few gripes!

Mrs Adams

Great view from living area and balcony. Well equipped and beautifully appointed base in this pretty part of Cornwall. We went with our 2 grown up children and their partners and had a great family time together. No nearby pubs or restaurants but St Mawes is possible to walk to. However the house is so lovely and kitchen well equipped for cooking to be enjoyed together with the great view in the background.

mr potter

Good location, easy for St Mawes and over to Portscatho side of the peninsula. Lovely views, West facing garden. Quiet.

Mr Mullins

It was like home from home, but with an idylic view.

Ms Morgan

Good cottage in a lovely location.

Mrs Loftus

A wonderful location for a family holiday with easy access to beautiful beaches.

Mr Smith

Lovely peaceful location. Comfy seating and bedding. Balcony gets afternoon sunshine. Very handy for St Mawes. Be aware the staircase is polished wood, open tread with a turn at the top, if you have any mobility issues.

Mrs Velázquez

It was amazing - the view is even more beautiful than the pictures. The property had everything you could think of - cooked amazing food every night- even found fresh lobster at the farm shop. Would love to stay again

Miss Frappell

Well appointed cottage in a stunning location. Really quiet and relaxing. Great places locally to explore. The view from the balcony was worth every penny.

Mrs Stephens

We had a lovely stay. The house is perfectly situated for walking coastal paths, wonderful scenery and great food, pubs, restaurants and foodie takeaway. Very comfortable and the views from the lounge provided us with a lovely array of sunsets and changing skies. We will definitely return.

Miss Dean

Beautiful cottage but be warned the beds are very hard!

Mrs Cooke

We do not feel this property was presented to its full potential, but we were grateful for the opportunity to get away and have a break.

Mr O'Neill

Fantastic cottage in a fantastic location. Loved every minute.

Ms Moxey

Lovely spacious house with great views. Good base for exploring the area.

Dr Grigg

Fantastic views, beautifully clean and comfortable base for the weekend break

Mr Truman

An excellent cottage, well equipped with wonderful views. Would definitely book again.

Mrs Storer

The view from this cottage is stunning. The property is beautifully decorated and well equipped, with very comfortable beds.

Dr Balan

Chyandour is a wonderful property to stay, close to the pretty town of St Mawes which has easy ferry access to Falmouth and Place for day trips, and we also found that it took just a few minutes drive to beautiful beaches nearby on the coast. We loved our stay in the house which is meticulously kept, fantastically well equipped and we certainly didn’t feel that we wanted for anything during our stay. Would highly recommend.

Mr Sargeant

Spacious property with 3 good sized bedrooms and living area. Small balcony that fits 4 adults and with good views of the sunset over the estuary. Short walk to the beautiful church and estuary but beware quite steep in places. Fantastic walk from property to St Mawes along estuary. Would recommend having a car. Utilised Classic Cottages suggestion for ordering supplies from Cornish Food Box. Slightly pricey but very good food. The meat and fruit and veg, in particular, were excellent.

Mr Humphrey

This is a very clean, comfortable and well-equipped cottage with stunning views across the water. In easy access of lots of beaches and fun days out. Would highly recommend.
