Viewtown Linhay is a hidden gem offering a walker's paradise for you and your hound. Situated in the Tamar Valley bordering the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the outskirts of the village of Harrowbarrow, it is sited on a working flower nursery offering a peaceful and tranquil setting surrounded by wildlife, beautiful woodlands and rolling countryside. The local Post Office and shop offers a great selection of everyday provisions and you are sure to be greeted with a welcoming smile, good humour and local knowledge. Owing to the perfect location you also have the option of both Devon and Cornwall to explore if you wish to venture further afield.

Viewtown Linhay is only a 30 minute walk away from Cotehele, a wonderful National Trust property that also sits on the route of many other walks in the local area. The estuary will be a memory that will last forever as river watching can see a few hours slip by. Not to be forgotten is Pentillie Castle and Estate and the wonderful Halton Quay. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to planning your holiday, there are simply countless glorious walks to enjoy no matter the season.

Viewtown Linhay is adjoined to the owners' bungalow but is completely separate and is accessed via your own private front door with a well thought out layout offering space throughout. The entrance hall links the front door to the back door where you will find your own private patio with a fitted screen. The gardens are open and free for you to enjoy and you also have your own private walk through the owners' fields which has been clearly marked. An added bonus is that as guests of the owners you have access to a private woodland which is situated yards from your front door.

The main open plan living area is accessed via the entrance hall and has one step up, where you will find the kitchen, dining, living and bedroom areas. The layout offers space and a top-quality finish which will be clear to see with added extras such as the coffee machine and Bluetooth speaker. The bathroom is situated by the bed area and offers a wonderful room with a larger than average walk-in shower, heated towel rail and many other little extras.

Babies up to two years old are welcome and a travel cot and highchair are provided.

Please note that there is a doorway that links to the owners' bungalow but this is locked with a soundproof curtain fitted to give you even more privacy and seclusion.

Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Smith

Delightful, well equipped studio with beautifully equipped kitchen and comfy furniture, and delightfully decorated. Very dog friendly, lots of good walks in and around the property ...the garden is not secure, but full of glorious animals smells...a lead is required if your puppy likes to explore & recall is a bit iffy.....

Mrs Tupper

Although small, perfectly formed with all the comforts of home. Very hospitable and helpful Owners.

Mr Pope

Just the place for a quiet break.

Mrs Chittim

A very quiet and peaceful area, Cotehele (N. Trust) within walking distance, a local pub and ‘corner shop’ close by, relaxing back garden and comfortable cottage, welcoming hosts.

Mrs Cantan

Excellent reception on arrival. Paul and Nancy were perfect hosts from the moment we arrived until it was (a sad) time to leave. The property and surroundings very impressive. Nothing to complain about. Will definitely stay again.

Mr Keable

Our stay was (despite some not great weather) a very happy one. This was largely down to the quality of the accommodation and that the owners had taken great care to think everything through. In the kitchen, or living space or shower room, everything had been thought of. The welcome pack was one of the best we've seen: full of interesting suggestions (eating out, visiting, walking, etc) and advice. The welcome we received from the owners was very warm (including a bottle of wine and cream tea!). The location feels well off the beaten track - wonderfully remote and so quite; perfect for de-stressing. But large supermarkets are quite close. We recommend Viewtown Linhay very highly indeed.

Mrs Burrows

On arrival the property exceeded our expectations. It was equipped to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. Thee welcome gift was a nice surprise. We felt instantly relaxed and at home. It was lovely to meet the owners Paul and Nancy who made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a very pleasant week at Viewtown Linhay and it's location was ideal for touring the area. We visited Newquay, the Eden Project, Tintagel, the Japanese Gardens, Looe and Plymouth.

Mr Poulton Poulton

We thoroughly enjoyed our spring break at Viewtown Linhay which is situated in peaceful countryside and in an ideal location for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Our stay was even better than we had hoped for with everything we could possibly need provided in this comfortable property with views over the garden to countryside beyond. Paul and Nancy had even left us a cream tea as well as wine and milk and gave us homegrown flowers on departure. Although we travelled further afield, you could easily spend days just exploring the immediate locality- the lovely gardens and house of Cotehele are very near, for example. Moreover, this property has an electric car charger, which made things really easy for us and will certainly be even more of an asset in the future. We would love to come back again to Viewtown Linhay!

Mrs Smith

The perfect peaceful holiday hideaway. An OS map of the area would help with local walks.

Mrs Warren

An excellent cottage, well cared for, friendly hosts, beautiful views from the summer house. Loads of interesting places to explore without driving.

Mr Rodgers

This was our second stay at Viewtown Linhay and was every bit as enjoyable as the first. The property was spotlessly clean on arrival and is furnished and decorated beautifully. The views from the garden and patio are lovely; there is also a great little summerhouse that we enjoyed our coffee in each morning. Nancy and Paul, the owners, are great and made us feel so welcome. They provided us with a delicious welcome pack on our arrival and some beautiful flowers on our departure. There are lots of nice places to visit nearby. We visited Polperro for the first time and can definitely recommend the fish pie in The Three Pilchards pub. The beaches at Whitsand Bay are really nice. Thanks Nancy and Paul for a fantastic holiday.

Mr Dunn

Outstanding accommodation. Great location. Very friendly owners. Can't recommend it enough

Mrs Brass

This was our third visit to Viewtown Linhay and I'm sure we'll be there again. It is a comfortable place with a very good lay out and high quality fittings and equipment. The garden provides a beautiful view from the window, and is a lovely place to sit, either on the patio or in the summerhouse. The owners are friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Guests are invited to stroll in their pretty market garden, and nearby wood and there are lots of wild birds to lift your spirits.

Mr Jones

Really happy with everything. The friendliness of the hosts was second to none. The location was good for ease to reach many locations. Would not hesitate to book again.

Mrs Connolly

Lovely cottage. Lovely setting. Lovely owners.

Mr Green

A splendid holiday home, comfortable and well furnished in a lovely location. Owners very helpful but not intrusive. One of the best places we have stayed.

Mrs Mortimer

We absolutely loved this property. We loved our long weekend at Viewtown Linhay. The photos and description really don’t do it justice. It was so clean and welcoming. The cream tea and wine left by Paul and Nancy were very welcome and delicious. Although this property is adjoining the owners’ property you are assured total privacy and they are welcoming and on hand if you need anything. We loved exploring this part of Cornwall and enjoyed Cotehele house and mill, Rame Head and Edgecumbe Country Park. We will definitely be back. We loved it. Thank you for the lovely flowers.

Mrs Muscroft

This really is a delightful hidden gem, so pretty, well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Thoroughly recommend.

Mr Hall

A perfect spot for a weeks holiday to explore the area. Lovely greeting by Paul and Nancy including wine, scones and cream. The perfect start to our break. Nothing was to much trouble. Fabulous modern and clean property with a lovely garden to relax in. Ideal location for us to visit lots of places - Torquay, Plymouth, Bude, Dartmouth, Eden Project, Newquay, Padstow, Looe. I'd thoroughly recommend Viewtown Linhay to anyone who's looking to explore the area - you won't be disappointed.

Mr Gordon

An immaculate, stunning self catering accommodation, Nancy and Paul were the perfect host providing the best hospitality for their guests.

Mrs Martin

A lovely place to stay so peaceful with everything you need.

Mr Harman

The property surpassed expectations! It was so lovely I want to redecorate my home to be just like it. The photos don’t do it justice. It is light, airy and so clean. It was bigger that it looks but it also had a fabulous garden we could use, birds on the feeding station and the most lovely crockery. Everything you need was there. A real home from home. The owners were so generous and friendly. The location was excellent, under an hour to Looe and the same to Bodmin. The little woods to walk round was a lovely way to end the day. The eucalyptus plantation is lovely also. The air is so fresh and clean, we slept really well. A very quiet and peaceful location. We loved our day at Cotehele, lunch at Calstock and shopping at Tavistock. We drove home over Dartmoor, which was also breathtaking. I think we really did leave a little of our heart here.

MRS MORTON

Beautiful cottage in lovely quiet area. The cottage is very well equipped, modern and comfortable. The garden was a treat to sit in the evenings with local pheasants pacing around. The owners, Paul and Nancy were very welcoming and helpful. One of the loveliest cottages we have stayed in. Peace and quiet within a lovely area. Would love to stay again

Mr Greybanks

The perfect stay in a beautiful part of Cornwall. Ideal for walking and visiting lots of places of interest.

MR SIBBICK

A lovely and very well appointed property with excellent personal touches provided by the owners. We very much enjoyed our stay at Viewtown Linhay - in spite of the weather!

Mr Suhanda

Everything was in place. The host were a really lovely couple. They greeted us with cornish cream, jam and scions along with the wine. On our exit they gave us the flowers from there garden which was a nice gesture. They ensured they helped with all neighborhood details. They provided access to visit the entire farm which was beautiful. The location is very nice and beautiful. It is a value for money.

Mrs Richardson

A well equipped , well designed property , extremely comfortable in a beautiful spot in the Cornish countryside. Very friendly owners who kindly provided lots of extras such as wine, milk, tea, coffee with a beautiful display of freshly cut flowers from their flower farm. We had a wonderful week's stay there.

Mrs Cobb

I deal for one/two people who would like peace and quiet in a clean, well kept spot with lovely garden.

Mr Eaton

Lovely stay. Property was comfortable and clean. Would definitely recommend this property. If you want a peaceful holiday then this property is ideal.

Mr Pope

Wonderful reception from the owners, including cream tea and wine on arrival and bouquet of alstroemerias on departure! All very much appreciated.

Mr Burt

Very clean and well equiped

Mrs Hossent

This cottage is ideal for couples seeking an escape to a place of peace and quiet.

Mrs White

We had a lovely stay. The owners have gone above and beyond to make their guests feel at home. Their attention to the smallest detail is impeccable and the standard of decoration and equipment on offer is one of the best I have seen in a holiday cottage. The welcome gift of home made Cream Tea's and a chilled bottle of wine were also very much appreciated after our long journey. I can not recommend this apartment enough, we hope to be be back again soon...

Mr Harker

I would like to thank the owners (whom, due to a span of time, memory has forgotten their names) who were so welcoming to me, and gave me a set of flowers as I was leaving. Truly a lovely couple, and I was delighted in their stay. Great place, great people, great holiday.

Mrs Chalmers

A real home from home. Spacious and well-appointed.

Mrs Lloyd

We had a wonderful holiday at Viewtown Linhay. This is a beautiful and well thought out conversion with good quality furnishings and fittings. The property is really well equipped and the Owners, who are very friendly and helpful, made us feel really welcome. We enjoyed total privacy with a lovely outlook onto the garden and use of our own private patio. With Cotehele within walking distance, the area is very atractive and superb for walking and cycling. We were able to store our bikes, when not in use, in the Owners garage which was much appreciated.

Mrs MacCallum

Thank you for a wonderful week in superb accommodation. There is nothing to beat Cornwall in the sunshine!

Mrs Brass

A perfect country retreat. The furnishings and equipment were well above our expectations. The owners are friendly and helpful, and the garden and grounds are a pleasant and peaceful place to relax.

Mr Young

A warm friendly welcome was just the start of a wonderful stay at this cottage. Everything catered for from fresh flowers, wine and home made scones on arrival to a fully equipped barbeque to use on the patio. Quality furniture and fittings, a very comfortable bed - all you could wish for and more.
