Orchard Barn

What a fantastic long weekend. The cottage is perfect for a couple or a small family, superb enclosed garden, great facilities, lovely location with plenty of rural walks and towns to visit nearby. Very comfy bed and will very likely be back again!

Had a great week here. Quiet and peaceful. Very comfortable bed in main bedroom. Huge garden for the dog. Well equipped kitchen. Good to have dishwasher which we used and there is also a washing machine. Emily was helpful and caring.

Had a very relaxing stay at Orchard Barn. The barn was beautifully decorated and well equipped. The location of the barn is very quiet and peaceful, but you can be on the coast in approximately 30/40 minutes. The garden was perfect and the dog loved it. There is a mile circuit walk which starts just outside the barn using the lanes. The Great Wood is around 20 mins drive away and is very picturesque. Good for dogs and children to run around and all on paths. Emma was a lovely, kind and helpful host. We had a wonderful time and would definitely use the barn again.

Orchard Barn is easily the most special place we have stayed. The property has everything you could possibly want and was a proper home from home. The attention to detail was just so good. Even to the Scrabble board with larger tiles. The large enclosed outside space was great for our dog ,and the invitation to pick fruit for our own consumption was so kind. Lots of walks and places to visit nearby. We would love to stay again.

The peaceful location was beautiful - perfect for visiting local places of interest - the garden was large and enclosed - being able to walk from the cottage was a bonus - friendly host who was there if we had needed any help or information - the canal walk was only 15 minute drive away too - a very special place - we hope to return again next year

This is a very nice and quiet place to stay, excellent for dogs and within easy reach of the pub. If we need to relax this is our first choice.

We had a lovely peaceful stay at Orchard Barn. In addition to the cottage being comfortable and well-equipped the garden was large and totally dog proof which made for a very relaxing stay.

Brilliant garden for a reactive dog although not an easy cottage for dogs as only permitted in the small living space and not on furniture, which in my view is NOT dog friendly

Great cottage, great location. The large garden was great for the dog. Loads of lovely walks close by. Was great on arrival to have the nice touches of tea, coffee , sugar , milk and a yummy cake!

Orchard Barn is excellent in all respects we had a very relaxed stay and our labrador enjoyed the large, secure garden and the even larger paddock. We will use this cottage shoul we come to this area again. A very warm welcome from the helpful Emily.

One of the best holiday homes we have stayed at, so much so one of our friends have booked Orchard Barn for their own holiday later in the year through our high recommendation to them.

Lovely cottage, dogs enjoyed the fully enclosed garden and didn’t need to be on leads all the time. Cottage well equipped and in peaceful surroundings. A welcome pack was appreciated and Emily came to welcome us to the cottage. We had only been there 2 hours and booked again for next year.

Having stayed here twice this cottage is perfect in every way. You have everything you need to enjoy and chill out in this peaceful tranquil cottage. The huge garden is so amazing for my two dogs to run and play in, they enjoyed it so much. The freedom you feel, the picturesque walks, the location all helps us unwind. We will definitely be returning. We love orchard barn.

Lovely barn with fantastic enclosed garden for the dogs In beautiful surroundings. Well equipped with good quality bedding, towels and soft furnishings. Easy access to M5 and quantocks. A number of great walks close by, Kingswood just 5 mins in the car. We would be happy to return.

Had a lovely weeks stay, weather was glorious and plenty of walks to do in the local area. However the barn could do with some TLC for example some chipped crockery, stains on walls, carpet needs cleaning. The garden was great and our dog loved it but the fencing on 2 sides of the garden needs a new fence. The wire was stretched in places and our dog could get through, he escaped 3 times. The garden gate needs fixing and BBQ, Umbrella and garden furniture needs a clean.

The barn was very welcoming, owners were very polite and helpful. It was clean and homely with all essentials you would need. Lovely garden.

A great place to stay and explore Somerset. We had some lovely walks on the Quantocks and on the beach at Kilve and Berrow, visits to Hestercombe and Fyne Court and a trip to Minehead on the steam railway. All dog friendly, including some pubs and cafes, and with the great enclosed garden at the cottage, Pebble had a wonderful holiday!

Fantastic garden for dogs, completely safe and locked in. Although there are neighbours the barn is not overlooked at all.

Very comfortable accommodation. Wonderful rural location - beautiful country. The many new roundabouts and poor signage around Taunton a nightmare ! - best to keep away.

The barn was extremely comfortable and in a very peaceful location whilst still being near to amenities. The owners could not have been kinder or more generous and genuinely concerned that we were enjoying our stay. I couldn't recommend this property more highly.

We loved our stay at Orchard Barn. Lovely setting, the best dog friendly garden, gorgeous paddock to wander through (golden with buttercups during our stay). We enjoyed exploring an area new to us, especially walking in the Quantocks. We found the local pub(about a 20 minute walk) very friendly and a good place to eat. We loved Orchard Barn. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the cottage was incredibly well equipped. Decent cooking equipment, sharp knives, teapot, large cafetiere and a dishwasher were all provided. The washing machine, and line was very useful although will remember to take a few pegs next time. WiFi was excellent. Books, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc all provided. Great walks within 20 mins drive or straight from your doorstep. It was a perfect relaxing holiday if you have a dog and just want to sleep in, walk, relax in the garden and eat lovely food. To be honest, we chose Orchard Barn purely because of the enclosed garden and quiet location. I have a highly energetic, noise sensitive border collie and although I always take him on holiday he often has to spend all week on a lead or long line as the gardens are not secure. That meant we were always having to watch him and he couldn't explore on his own. The garden at Orchard Cottage really was secure (high stone walls on two sides and 3'6" or 4 foot wooden fences with sheep wire on the other two sides. There was also an orchard and meadow (with ponies) to walk in too. Our hosts were amazing too. We didn't really have any issues but on the few times we contacted them, they responded immediately. Orchard Barn was our first time to Somerset (normally we go to Dorset, Devon or Cornwall) and we loved the cottage and the county. So much so, we are going back later in the summer and no doubt next year too. The interior decoration was a little dated and a bit busy with so many pictures, cushions and lamps but this was not an issue. Our only problem was that the leather sofas were not very comfortable and really need upgrading. Maybe the cushions have just lost all their support but they seemed too low and the seats were not deep enough to be supportive. Just generally uncomfortable. This was the only thing we muttered about all week!

What a lovely cottage in a perfect location for country walks and day trips further afield. The cottage was exactly as described, with a large enclosed garden and easy access to brilliant walks. The welcome tray with a personal note, cake and treats for the dog was a lovely touch. We found the cottage super comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, a great shower and comfortable beds. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful stay in April. 2 adults, 2 children and one daft dachshund. The barn was ideal for what we needed. We could cook and eat in comfort, beds were cozy and the outlook was beautiful. We very much enjoyed the orchard and paddock and surrounding walls, as well as good road access for visiting and exploring the area. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and warm and we hope to return soon.

Lovely cottage in a pretty and quiet village, which was very easy to find and not too far from the motorway either. Thr cottage was very clean, cosy and warm and I had everything I needed for myself and my dog for the week and my dog loved to stretch her legs in the big, enclosed rear garden.

This is our 2nd stay at Orchard Barn....it is lovely to be able to take 3 small well behaved dogs & know they are safe in the enclosed garden....Emily is just a call away if we needed anything... Excellent stay...

Orchard Barn is situated very close to Oak Tree Barn with shared access and parking. The front of Orchard Barn overlooks the parking area and in not private. The garden was nice for our dogs, safe enough, although very small dogs maybe able to get through the wire fencing, the septic tank is in the middle of the garden. The cottage is very compact wifh limited space and the shower room is very small. The cottage is in need of a deep clean, wooden beams and lampshades were coverd in dust and cobwebs. Cutlery and baking trays had to be washed before use. Orchard Barn is not as private and seclided as we were lex to believe and we were very disappointed.

The cottage was just perfect! Very clean and fully equipped. Excellent sized enclosed garden for dogs or small children.

Dogs love the garden, we love the quiet and also the ability to relax in the garden taking in the sun and the wine. Recommend the Maypole and the inns. Also Pynes farm shop in Birdgwater.

The cottage is situated in a lovely part of Somerset. Wonderful walks all round. The closed in garden was fabulous for our two dogs. Emily the owner couldn't have been more helpful especially when we needed help a couple of times. The welcome pack she provided ( tea cake,biscuits for the dogs ) was a lovely gesture. The beds also were very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a very relaxing week, and hopefully will return soon.

Nice cosy cottage with a lovely enclosed garden especially waking up to a green woodpecker sharpening his beck on a stone. Plenty of room for two/three people for your holidays

This was our second stay at Orchard Barn. It is so peaceful and our dog loves the safe garden and looking for rabbits in the paddock. We had a friendly welcome and appreciated the milk etc. that had been left for us. The cottage is well equipped and we had everything we needed. We loved walking in the Quantock Hills especially the combs when the weather was very hot.

The owner,Emily is one of Lifes treasures. The welcome pack and handwritten note begin a journey,where you encounter such a caring and helpful host, who does absolutely everything to make your stay one to remember. The grounds are spectacular and perfect for dogs as they are easily confined in the garden. My border terrier loved a flood lit prowl last thing at night before bedding down. The cleaning is really good and having facilities like dishwasher, and washer dryer, so handy if you are staying in the winter months. I was warm, happy , well looked after and left feeling the world was a better place and inspired to become more caring in my own life. Thank you Emily!

Stunning garden, fully enclosed and absolutely safe for dogs. Very friendly pony’s in the field opposite the property who love a scratch or two in the morning.

A lovely, peaceful cottage perfect for those with a dog. Our dog loved the big garden and the paddock. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and the shower was good. It was easy to get to North Petherton for any shopping. The Quantocks is a beautiful area for walking although driving on the very narrow lanes is quite scary!

Superb and very private get away for a relaxing break. Very quiet and peaceful with no light pollution and very little road noise. We felt very welcome with the roses and cake and there was tea and milk as well. Very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine and all necessary soaps provided. Beds were very comfortable. The garden was well set apart with S tone walls to 2 sides and huge which was a real treat for the dogs and there was a supply of charcoal and wood for the barbecue and fire pit. Lots of places to visit and eat out either in Taunton or Bridgwater direction. Burnham-On-Sea was quiet enough to feel comfortable and safe during the pandemic. The book with local dog walks was really helpful. Totally recommended

Despite the negative points we had a lovely week in the barn, especially after being in lockdown since March. Emily and her husband were very kind and helpful with the extra rug for our disabled dog, many thanks to them for that. The change of scene has really cheered us up. Despite the very narrow lanes it was easy to get back to normal sized roads when you wanted to get out. Every convenience at North Petherton.p

We had a wonderful stay at Orchard Barn. It was well equipped and comfortable. The garden was lovely so Piper the dog was very happy! We would certainly book again if we are back in the area. A special thank you to Emily who dealt with an issue immediately.

We have been on holiday there several times, the Skye terriers love the garden. The change to the door to the garden was very welcome and we enjoyed meals there in the evening. The local church is really worth a visit and so is the Maypole Inn, Monkton Elm garden centre do a great breakfast.

It was brilliant we had a good time and enjoyed our selves would recommend this to every one to try THANK you for a good time .

This is our second stay at Orchard Barn and we have come back and already booked to return this year. It is a haven away from it all. We love the totally secure garden and so does our dog....we love the walks around the beautiful village...we find a new route each time we are out. Emily is a wonderful host and on hand for anything. The welcome tray on arrival is lovely and treats for the dog too. The new door to the back garden was very welcome. We just love it here.

Orchard Barn provides everything needed for a comfortable stay whilst conveniently positioned for trips into Taunton and for exploring the numerous NT properties all within a short drive . Lovely quiet area with picturesque walks and a super welcoming pack. Would definitely recommend for a short stay and will rebook for our next visit to family in Taunton. Our 4th stay at Orchard Barn and we will be back again... love it all, the cake on arrival...the garden is perfectly enclosed for our dog too which is a massive plus for us... Thank you classic cottages also for the lovely anniversary card which was waiting for when we arrived... such a perfect start to our weekend. We just love it here.

Orchard barn was a perfect get-away with the dogs, a lovely warm welcome with a beautiful Christmas tree and some Christmas cup cakes, milk in fridge and a clean well presented property. Walks from the door step and beautiful Quantocks close by, we had a lovely break and would highly recommend this cottage.

The owner Emily came to see us after arriving. She made us feel really welcome and told us where everything was, she even advised us on some good walks for us and our dog. There was some lovely welcoming gestures ie cake and dog treats. The barn was lovely and well furnished. The garden was excellent for our dog as enclosed and a really good size.

Little slice of heaven. If you want to sit in the garden listening to the birds and nothing else, this is the place to be. Absolutely wonderful to relax away from the usual chaotic lifestyle many of os have.

Loved the large walled garden and homely touches such as the bird table buy the patio doors. The place felt 'home from home' and the bed was comfy. Nice to be able to bring the dogs with us too.

Emily came to see us at the cottage just to check that everything was ok - the cottage met all our expectations and was perfect for us and our two dogs, and we would definitely like to return! Just perfect - wonderful walks directly from the cottage and the cottage garden was brilliant, we never had to worry about our girls escaping because it was really safe and secure! Thank you. Real peace of mind.

Lovely peaceful setting. Ideal for dog owners, with super secure large garden area. Plenty of contrasting woodland and beach walks and excellent variety of places to eat, relax and enjoy. Friendly owners and a warm welcome with lovely extra touches.

I loved it-my first ever holiday on my own.The family were extremely charming and I hope to go again. It was so peaceful and my chihuahuas loved the country walks. It was perfect.

I think I have covered it all on the previous page. I would give 5 stars for the garden and 2 for the cottage so I have gone with 3 overall but if you publish the stars you should highlight the downsides (shower room, lack of kitchen cupboard space, no laundry room, a bit cramped) as well as the upsides (lovely garden, nice main bedroom).
