Reviews
The Old Stable nestles in a splendid, elevated position with sweeping views across the Yorkshire Dales in the tiny hamlet of Crackpot. This cosy rustic cottage with original beams, roaring wood-burner and a welcoming atmosphere along with a pretty garden, parking, views and wonderful walks right from your door. Perfect for couples or a small group of friends, you can even bring your four-legged companion too.

The Old Stable blends original character with homely comfort. The compact kitchen has French doors opening onto a patio facing the garden, while the sitting-room is just the place for relaxing by the fire after a day out exploring. The TV has Netflix, iPlayer, and there are shelves of books, maps and local information for you to enjoy. Natural daylight fills the cottage, and every window frames a lovely countryside view.
Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms where you can unwind and relax and then, in the morning, awake from a comfy slumber to a beautiful view from your bedroom. Even the spacious walk-in shower room offers a gorgeous view down the Dale.

Outside, steps lead down to a terrace where a table invites you to sit awhile and ponder your day's adventures, perfect for sunny days or balmy evenings. A path, unfenced with a drop, leads to a lower lawned garden surrounded by mature plants, an idyllic place to spend some time listen to birdsong, watch the sheep and watch the ever changing skies. At night it can be just as magical as the owls begin to call and the dark skies fill with a wondrous array of twinkling stars. You never know, you may even be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights

Ms Howes

This is a lovely cottage. In warm weather the outside areas are wonderful, with views over Swaledale and the surrounding hills. In cooler weather the multi fuel stove in the sitting room makes the house feel very cosy. The bedrooms have fabulous views, blinds and curtains, plenty of storage, and comfortable beds, and the bathroom has a really good walk in shower. The kitchen is small but well equipped and also has french windows that open onto the garden. I can thoroughly recommend this as a lovely base if you want to explore Swaledale.
