Reviews
Come away to Yorkshire and experience the authentic, rustic charm of an original Yorkshire stone cottage. Nettlebed is nestled on the hillside with amazing views over Swaledale and well worth the drive through the farm gates and up the steep twisted track to the house.

Once inside, the original stone floor, beamed ceilings and real fire in the range, makes it easy to imagine the first owners of the cottage cooking and baking on this beautiful, blackened range. This lovely sitting-room is a great place to relax after a long day on the hills, either enjoy your favourite show on TV, read a good book, you can even tickle the ivories on the piano, or you could just admire the fascinating mix of eclectic artwork dotted around the walls.

Through the latch door and up one stone step you'll find the kitchen/diner with its bespoke wooden units and worktop. After sharing a meal of fine Yorkshire fayre, you may want to forego the dishwasher and spend time washing up, just to gaze out at the amazing view.

When evening comes around, climb the steep and deep stone staircase to the bedrooms, each with rough-hewn walls and deep windowsills. Choose one of the three country style bedrooms, each with its own fantastic view. The sheep outside are there to count if you can't sleep, or just enjoy the geometry of the dry-stone walls surrounding the fields.

The outside of Nettlebed is a joy to behold with sweeping, far reaching views down the dale towards Reeth. Watch the river Swale meander through the lush green meadows and maybe even spot a deer or a barn owl. In the evening you can marvel at the clear, night skies, dotted with bright sparkling stars and see the Milky Way rise overhead.

Mrs Roberts

We all had the perfect Christmas here and a wonderful holiday and break from our busy lives. The view and setting are magnificent and we loved the open fire and all the books to read, as well as the piano. We especially enjoyed the feeling of space and peace, and the walled garden. We hope to return very soon. Thank you very much for sharing your obviously much-loved home.

Mr Blackburn

We are slightly disappointed, it’s not a cheap place to stay for two nights so we expected a little more of a working Television.

Miss Fielding

Gorgeous location and beautiful traditional old Dales cottage in a completely private location. Cottages like this are extremely rare. Loved every minute. Wouldn’t change a thing!

Mrs Peace

Although the location was great as we wanted solitude, we do not feel the quality of the property was up to the standard that we expected from a classic cottage property. And we have had the pleasure of staying at quite a few over the years.

Mr Liebold

A cottage that is beautiful from the outside in a fantastic location.
Unfortunately, the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The kitchen utensils are in urgent need of replacement. Poor value for money compared to other cottages.

Mr Chadburn

Basic, but charming cottage, fabulous location and a view that can't be bettered.

Mrs Wilkinson

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location

Ms Lawrence

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Lots to do in the area.
