Lucaster
Managed by Classic Cottages
Once inside, a spacious entrance hall warmly welcomes you, leading through to the light filled sitting/dining-room at one end, with its picturesque view out to Fishbourne Green and cosy wood-burner for extra warmth on a chilly evening. At the other end is the pretty, modern kitchen/breakfast-room, fully equipped with everything you need to rustle up a family supper. A stable-door from the kitchen leads out to a porch, (handy for those sandy buckets and spades) and you'll find a fully enclosed patio at the rear filled with flowers that attract an array of beautiful wildlife. With outdoor seating and a raised decked area with an additional bistro table, there is plenty of space to dine al fresco while soaking up the Island sunshine.
Guests should note that the ferry is within sight and sound of the cottage, although this is generally unobtrusive.
All three bedrooms are located on the first floor. Bedroom one is a charming double bedroom overlooking the garden, complete with a cosy window seat - giving you the perfect vantage point for watching the red squirrels feeding below. There is also an en suite shower-room for your convenience. Bedrooms two and three are both beautifully decorated twin bedrooms, each featuring picture-perfect shutters that enhance the cottage feel. Completing the accommodation is a family bathroom with a roll-top bath to enjoy a nice long soak after your day exploring the Island.

We have just had a week at Lucaster for Easter. Family of 6. Excellent location for the beach and ferry port.
Good pub more or less next door - The Fishbourne - nice food. Walked to Quarr Abbey from the house which took about 15 minutes which was lovely. Worth a visit to the cafe.
Mrs King
This cottage is in a superb location, a stone’s throw from a small beach and right near the ferry point. No noise from ferries at all. A lot of red squirrels to watch in the garden and friendly neighbours. Great for walks from the door too, lovely walk to Ryde passing Quarr Abbey. Would definitely stay again if visiting the island.
Mr Bates
Lucaster cottage was lovely,we had gorgeous holiday, lots of super walks and plenty of places to visit. Hope to revisit sometime in the future. Our dog Alfie especially loved the beach near us. M&V Bates & Alfie dog
Mrs Truscott
Lucaster is delightful, situated close to the Fishbourne ferry but noise is not a problem at all and it is interesting to watch. Red squirrels abound in the area and were busy stocking their larder in the garden whilst we were there, fascinating little creatures! A one minute walk takes you to the shore to watch the world go by and the Fishbourne Inn is only yards from the house. Would book again without hesitation.
Mrs Wells
This could be a lovely cottage if they actually employed someone to clean it properly.
I don't expect the floor and furnishings to be covered in white dog hair. (Our dog is black so we could see the floor hadn't been hoovered or swept.
We had to clean the floors on our first evening so our two young grandsons could play on the floor.
Bathroom not cleaned.
We had to have a maintenance man out to hammer down screws which were sticking, pointed end up, out of the patio!
Numerous lights either had no bulbs or just didn't work.
Light in en suite didn't work which meant showering by torch light as also no window.
Couldn't use dining table as so old and rickety.
We paid nearly £1.5k. Very disappointed.
Mrs Chandler
Location was great fishbourne beach was just down the lane which was perfect for cooling off, our children and dog really enjoyed it!
Quarr abbey was also a short walk away which was perfect for an evening stroll.
We all really enjoyed our holiday and found Lucaster to be perfect for us and was plenty spacious enough as we are a family of five with a golden retriever!
Mr Jordan
Our second visit to Lucaster, as we loved it so much a couple of years ago, and it didn't disappoint this time either.
Love the new kitchen, everything was perfect for us, including the weather, so couldn't have been better.
Already thinking of booking up again for a possible winter break over there. as there's so much more we'd like to do and see.
Thank you to Classic Cottages and obviously the owners for letting us stay in your beautiful home......
Mrs Watts
Very comfortable cottage in an excellent location. Although just round the corner from the ferry terminal it was very quiet.
Close to a beach and a pub, not to far to travel to anywhere on the Island. Happy holidays
A real bonus for us was being able to watch the red squirrels scampering around the garden.l
Mrs Baylis
Great location with some good walks direct from the property
Comfortable house, plenty of facilities and amenities
Mr Ward
Great location, lovely characterful cottage on a beautiful island.
Mrs Smith
We had a fantastic week at Lucaster celebrating my 50th birthday. The house is beautifully furnished and very comfortable with everything that you need. The garden is very pretty and tranquil and a great spot to catch a glimpse of the red squirrel. The property is in a great location, very convenient for the Wight Link ferry and for easy access to the rest of the island.
We loved every minute of our holiday and hope to return very soon. xx
Ms Cleverdon
Lovely comfortable house in a perfect quiet area.
Mr Sammons
Quiet, comfortable and well set up. Only a couple of minutes from the fishbourne ferry. Very short walk to the foreshore, ideal for an evening stroll. Would happily recommend it.
Mrs Griffiths
We really enjoyed our stay in the Isle of Wight and hope to come back again. Lucaster is a very pretty house - ideal size for 3 (+1 for the weekend) and a Cocker Spaniel. Lucaster was well looked after and clean with pretty decor of cool pastel shades - just right for the age and style of the house and the boat theme suited the location. The house is in a lovely position on the village green and is so convenient for the Wight Link ferry which terminates almost at the end of the garden. It was great watching it manoeuvring into the harbour and disappearing around the corner back to Portsmouth. The ferry isn't intrusive or noisy - infact I miss it now we're home!
Fishbourne is a good location for exploring all the towns, villages, historic sites as well as the beaches. This is a great dog friendly time of year as the beaches are mostly all unrestricted.
The area and the accommodation truly worked for us - thank you Classic Cottages.
Mrs Gunning
Lovely location and comfortable accommodation. En suite bathroom very small.
Mrs Troughton
Great property, lovely atmosphere and well decorated throughout.
Ms Tench

Mrs Paul
Lovely house in a great location with a very good well run pub within a few yards from the front door
Mr Button
This is an exceptional holiday cottage and I would not hesitate to book it again. It is an amazing location and we loved everything about our experience. These are such difficult times and to still be able to enjoy a break away in such a wonderful property was a real joy. I cannot speak highly enough of Lucaster and if we could spend even more time there we would love to do so. Simply perfect - Thank you
Mr Stevenson
A perfect location for a quiet and relaxing break, being next to ferry port has great advantage
Mrs Atkins
Lovely quiet location, near the coast and the ferry. The ferry could not be heard from the house but it was interesting to watch it when at the sea front. Private garden, good parking. Lovely light filled bedrooms and bathroom. The kitchen is well overdue a renovation. Enjoyed the walks to Quarr Abbey.
Barrett
Beautiful convenient location, cosy attractive property with a lovely pub next door!
Mrs Sorrentino
Lucaster is a perfect little cottage in a lovely location. We had a truly memorable stay, we hope very much to return. The location was lovely and our 10 year old loved running down to watch the ferries come in. Just past there was a lovely stretch of beach which was so peaceful. The cottage itself was perfect and we had everything we wanted.
Mr Jordan
We absolutely loved our stay at Lucaster. Felt at home as soon as we got there. Its a lovely cottage in beautiful little hamlet..... really can't wait to re-book in the future.
Ms Walker
The entrance is someone else's drive. Child and pet hazard
Ms Grenham
From reading other reviews I agree that the position of the cottage was excellent with quay just a few steps away, the pub was also excellent and it was a very quiet and relaxing area, but i find it hard to understand why there were cobwebs hanging from every ceiling, and they were not new by any stretch, there was thick dust on the blinds in the lounge, other than the settee you would have to be the size of a child to fit in the chairs,so if there was four adults there would be not comfort. Please could you tell me where you store food that to us mere mortals that cannot afford to eat out every night need to cook with ? I understand it's a cottage but there is nowhere in the kitchen for this,as for the kitchen I had to go and purchase some for to clean the sink and washing up bowl before I used it,apart from changing the beds I could not see anything else the cleaner did,I would say the ensuite bathroom had not seen any limescale cleaning products for many many months, the inside of the shower was disgusting. If you think that these things make it a quant cottage then I suggest you go and have a look at it and see if you would be happy to spend £720.00 on staying there, that's unless someone flew in and gave it a massive spring clean after we left. The simple way to descibe this property is dated and grubby, and needs some money spent on it,I don't want to go on holiday to stay in a place that is far below the standards of what I live in,and I can assure you we both work and live in a small semi, and please don't tell me that it is the season for spiders, their webs have been hanging for months,it's a shame because the spare rooms were decorated well, shame about the downstairs.if someone does go in to have a look put your fingers on the radio knob,it's so dirty my finger got stuck !
I have stayed with classic cottages in Cornwall many times so I expect better from you, your standards are usually much higher. On a positive note the lady that booked the holiday for us was excellent, very efficient and friendly,a joy ! So was the lady that booked the ferry for us,nothing was too much trouble for her.
Service that is rare these days but very much welcomed, thank them both from us.
Mrs Balaam
A very quiet location. You can’t hear any noise at all from the ferries although they are very close. We loved going to see them arrive and depart.
A very frequent bus service into Ryde or Newport from Fishbourne Lane.
Mrs Harris
Outstanding location a few steps from a great pub, an idyllic beach and Quarr Abbey. The ferry was not obtrusive and actually added to the charm.
Mrs Wilson
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. 4 kids loved it. I even saw a red squirrel in the garden. Good location between cowes and ryde. Would go again.
