Reviews

The Piggery at John Bulls House is the perfect retreat for couples looking to stay at the foot of South Downs National Park. Situated in a quiet, rural and secluded location it gives easy access to the A23 London to Brighton road making it a great base for touring Sussex and the surrounding counties.

All on one level this once farm building has been lovingly converted to provide contemporary and luxurious accommodation throughout.

As you step through the front door into the open plan oak beamed living area there is a state-of-the-art kitchen with everything you need to rustle up your favourite meals. Enjoy time together around a large dining-table or curl up on one of the sofas whilst you read a book, watch a film or simply take in the views of the garden and pond.

The bedroom is wonderfully spacious with a sofa and king-size double bed that has been dressed in Egyptian linens for that blissful night's sleep and long lie-ins. Adjacent to the bedroom is a fully tiled wet-room complete with a large rainfall shower, perfect for soothing aching muscles after a day's exploring or a wake-up shower in the morning.

Step outside to the garden and take your morning coffee on the patio or fire up the barbecue for al fresco dining before enjoying heavenly moments beneath the stars in the Scandinavian (eco-friendly) wood-fired hot tub.

The Piggery really is the ultimate couples' retreat - the owners have even provided dressing gowns and champagne glasses, to make sure you feel well and truly pampered!

Babes in arms under six months old are welcome at The Piggery at John Bulls House.

If you require additional accommodation, you can book Kenny's Hut (4920) a beautiful shepherd's hut that sleeps two.

For the ultimate pampering experience at The Piggery why not book a beauty treatment? The owner can arrange for a beauty therapist to visit, and guests can book a range of treatments direct including facials, body massages and Indian head massages to name just a few.

Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Sharp

A very comfortable, well furnished cottage with eveything you might need and some nice little touches such as the tulips and the prosecco. Very helpful yet unobtrusive host. Waking up to birdsong and ducks on the pond was charming. The location is good for walking and garden visits eg Nymans, Leonardslee Gardens, Knepp Estate. Also several pubs with good food as well as a good farmer's shop just a short drive away.

Mr Male

This is a stunning property in a really beautiful location, with so much to do locally and great countryside walks straight from the door. Despite the warm temperatures the Piggery remained cool inside and had lots of outdoor areas to choose from. We loved the hot tub and it was nice not to have the noise of the pumps to distract from the birdsong. The ducks were also great entertainment!

Miss Crompton

September 2023. Just back home to North East England after the most glorious 2 weeks stay at The Piggery. What a fabulously calming and cosy place…both indoor and outside spaces were super. Loved being greeted by the ducks every morning, sunning ourselves on the loungers listening to birdsong in a quiet moment of peace, then sitting under the stars by the fire pit or in the hot tub with a nice glass of wine from the local Bolney wine estate in the evening, followed by a snuggly bed to dream of tomorrow’s jaunts in the beautiful local area….just the most perfect holiday routine. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for letting us share their most tranquil part of West Sussex. Highly recommended to recharge, restore and reconnect your soul. Allyson and Darren, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Gunning

A beautiful property in a peaceful location. The cottage had everything we needed for a few nights away. We loved how close it was to places including Bolney Wine Estate and Leonardslee Gardens too. Definitely recommend for couples looking for a country escape.

Ms Granger

Great little guest cottage on a beautiful property centrally located to anywhere you'd want to go in Sussex or Kent!
