Leat Mill Cottage

We thought this was an exceptionally lovely cottage which was well equipped with everything in working order. It was a pleasure to spend time in this cosy environment! There is plenty to explore and we enjoyed some wonderful walks. We would certainly highly recommend Leat Mill Cottage and would love to go back!

Located in a most peaceful, tranquil setting, Leat Mill Cottage is the perfect place to relax. Ideally placed to explore Devon and Cornwall, or to simply enjoy excellent local walking or, as did my son and I, some of Devon's best fishing! The owners are open and friendly but this does not compromise respecting their guests' privacy and solitude. A beautiful place, and one I intend to return to at the first opportunity.

Have been to this cottage quite a few times over the years, and everything always comes up to expectations. Owners very friendly and welcoming and the place is always spotless. We love staying there.

First time staying at this lovely cottage and would definitely stay again. Beautiful countryside, peaceful location and very relaxing. Thoughtful touches provided by the owners including a welcoming cream tea on arrival were most appreciated. We had a very enjoyable week despite the heatwave!

We have stayed twice and booked for a third time in September. We love everything about Leat Mill Cottage, from the thoughtful touches like fresh fruit, flowers, and a dog bowl filled with water ready for our little pugs after a long drive, to sitting on the sofa watching a woodpecker feed at the bird feeder. It is also extremely quick and easy to settle into with parking very close to the cottage, and lots of cupboard space. We were fully unpacked and sitting in the lovely garden, enjoying the cream tea kindly provided by the owners, within an hour of arrival!

The cottage was set in a beautiful location and was very peaceful too. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need. It is well situated for visiting different places in Cornwall and Devon. The hosts were really helpful and available on site should they be needed. They left a delicious welcoming Devon cream tea. We have stayed in Leat Mill Cottage a few times now and would definitely return again. It is in a lovely location and provides everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The decor, furniture and equipment are excellent. It is always totally clean and immaculate inside and outside. The Wi-Fi is very good. The owners are friendly and helpful but discreet.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. Everything was perfect, the cottage was spotlessly clean, the chairs and bed were wonderfully comfortable and our two small pugs could wander around the enclosed garden without being able to escape! We liked it so much we have booked for next year.

We have had a fantastic stay at Leat Mill Cottage. The cottage was very well cared for, well equipped and so clean! The sofas and beds were very comfortable and it was lovely to have a cream tea, fruit and fresh flowers on arrival.

Leat Mill Cottage is a lovely place to stay and we really enjoyed our holiday. It is in a quiet location, but with easy access to the village, with some nice walks, pubs and local shops in the vicinity.

The cottage is in a great location surrounded by woods and farmland. Lifton is a lovely village with good shops and pubs. There are some good walks from the front door along the river and around the village.

We have been going to Leat Mill Cottage for nearly 30 years. It is in a beautiful and tranquil setting, and the hosts Liz and Gerald have always made us very welcome, and to us it has been our home from home. The cottage is lovely and very well equipped with everything you need to ensure your stay is comfortable and relaxing, going home with batteries fully charged after your stay! Stayed here twice now, great for touring into Cornwall & Devon, if you are prepared to do so there are lots of places to visit within an hours drive. The setting itself is very quiet and peaceful.

A delightful Gem - situated in a quiet countryside setting therefore a superb location to get away from the stressful humdrum of todays busy life. The owners Mr and Mrs Brown do indeed go that extra mile to ensure your stay is warming and comfortable. Welcome cream tea was most enjoyable.

We loved our stay at Leat Mill Cottage. The cottage was extremely cosy and clean. We were treated to a cream tea on arrival which was an unexpected treat. The owners were very helpful and kind, we hope to return again one day soon.

Friendly and warm reception by the hosts. Very clean and lovely cottage, ideal for small family. We enjoyed the night sky, access to Tamar valley and Cotehele, canoeing on river Tamar, coast path walks and Dartmoor National Park. We felt home away from home. Great stay!

The owners are attentive to detail and always on hand to help if required but never intrusive. We have stayed in this cottage several times now and also in the owner’s other property, Leat Mill, and would thoroughly recommend both. We were especially pleased with the cleanliness of the cottage this year with regard to feeling safe from covid19.

A fantastic, warm and cosy cottage, in an idyllic location with both coast and moor in easy driving distance. We liked to have a Devon day and then a Cornwall day. Strawberry Fields Farm Shop was excellent. Thank you.

Lovely light and airy cottage in an idealic spot. The owners have done an excellent job of turning the barn into a perfect holiday cottage. We had some great walks on Dartmoor and on the cornish coast with the dogs who also loved the nearby river. The Lifton hall hotel serves great food and is only a short stroll from the cottage. The owners were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome.

On arrival we had a lovely welcome by the owners and there was a clotted cream tea waiting for us in the kitchen . There was a superb log burner in the lounge which made our evenings very cosy . It was a great location in which to explore Devon and Cornwall.

This cottage is in an excellent location very peaceful and secluded. Very clean and well equipped the owners have thought of everything if you want a peaceful relaxing holiday this is the place to go.

Leat Mill Cottage is a very comfortable cottage with everything there to have an enjoyable holiday. It is well looked after by the owners, who, although they live just over the lane, are very discrete and never intrude into the holiday. We have stayed in this location 3 times now in both Leat Mill Cottage and in the owner’s property and would go again. The location is quiet and beautiful.

25 years plus is testament to the pleasure and satisfaction we obtain from this property.

Superb location.

Leat Mill Cottage was excellent and in the perfect quiet location. It was cosy and comfortable and felt homely. We knew the location as we stayed, a few years ago, over the lane in the owners' other cottage so knew what to expect. We found the cottage exceptionally clean and enjoyed the attention to detail. The owners introduced themselves when we arrived and then did not interrupt our holiday in any way apart from secretly topping up the bird feeders, which we appreciated. The weather wasn't kind to us so we made good use of the wood burner which was very efficient and easy to light. The wifi was excellent with a strong fast signal. I wouldn't be surprised if we returned there in the future.

The cream tea and fresh flowers on arrival were unexpected, but an absolute delight. The cottage had absolutely everything you would need and more. Absolutely spottlessly clean and beautiful furniture all so in keeping with the cottage style. A truly magical stay! We have found a little piece of heaven on earth.

Lovely cottage, great for dogs as the river is shallow. Very close to Lauceston and the farm shop has a wide range of goodies.

A charming cottage in a peaceful setting. The river just yards from the cottage offered a soothing feel of calm, yet locational wise a short drive from A30 and brilliant to get to most places.

A comfortable cottage in a beautifully peaceful location - a lovely place to relax. We found that we could get everything that we wanted either at the village shop or the farm shop and, as petrol is sold in Tinhay, we didn't have to visit a town or supermarket at all during our stay.

Lovely Cottage to relax in and in a beautiful setting, great places to visit and explore. This was our 2nd holiday at the cottage and hope to go back again.

The owners of this property were lovely, We were made very welcome , and with a cream tea. No complaints, couldn't be bettered.

Excellent location for getting access to the moor and to the beaches. Although close to the A30 it is a truly peaceful place and great for a relaxing break. The cream tea on arrival was a nice touch. Would recommend the farm shop in Lifton for all your essential supplies.

This was our second stay at this cottage and again it was very relaxing. We normally do cottage visits in the winter but this spring stay rewarded us with more birds in the garden and spring flowers everywhere which was lovely!! A cheeky chaffinch came and knocked on the window twice while we were there!! A visit to Tavistock is always a must and not too far away. Also a visit to the Tamar Otter and Wildlife centre is recommended. All in all, a lovely 4 night break.

We return to this cottage yearly because of its amazing high standards of furnishings and equiptment. Lovely log fire and idyllic position on the Devon/Cornwall border. Close to all attractions and both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moors. Unique holiday cottage.

We really loved this cottage. The cosy lounge with the wood burner was very welcoming, You can sit and watch the birds on the bird tables outside. The bedroom was comfortable. The area is lovely and quiet (just what we like). There is a wonderful farm shop not too far away where you can stock up on all sorts of goodies!! We love this area and hope to stay again soon.

Very pretty cottage and lovely comfortable lounge with wood burning stove. Great warm cosy evenings. Nice finishing touches like the cream tea when we arrived and fruit in the bowl. No need to take tea towels, washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets - all thoughtfully provided.

From an Australian perspective, Leat Mill Cottage represents the quintessential 'escape to the country'. Charming accommodation with all the mod cons and picture windows looking out onto all the positive aspects of rural life - birds, cows, a stream ideal for skipping stones, country lanes, a nearby town for groceries and a lovely pub meal, congenial hosts - and wait for it, silence! Far from the A30 for noise but near enough to connect to all the Devon and Cornwall locations.

Leat Mill Cottage is 5* quality with everything you could want provided, even a cream tea and log fire on arrival. Little seat by the stream, central to Dartmoor and Bodmin Moors with a well stocked village shop and farm shop. Owners very friendly, an idyllic place we will come back to.

Any excellent property. The owner met us when we arrived and had thoughtfully left a pint of milk in the fridge, some fruit, flowers and scones, cream and jam. Every detail was thought of. Better than home is the best way to describe it! The location was lovely near to the river but not too far from towns so you didn't feel as if you were in the middle of nowhere. The owner also gave us some fresh mushrooms that he had picked that morning. It was nice to see the photograph of the cottage as it originally was- old farm buildings. A lovely stay would definitely recommend.

A beautiful cottege, with really hospitable owners. In a very cold spell, it was cosy and very comfortable. The spa bath was a treat.

Little Leat nestles in a small hamlet of properties and whilst the other properties are close they are not overly intrusive, it would however benefit from a private/enclosed garden area. The location suited us well and there were a good number and range of excellent places to eat. Overall we’d definitely stay at Little Leat again.

This cottage was by far the best we've stayed in. A beautiful location and very well equipped cottage. A lovely cream tea was provided by the owner on arrival together with a pint of milk, very thoughtful. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone.
