Stella Maris

Stella Maris was a beautiful property to stay in with plenty of room for all the family. We were particularly grateful for the welcome basket on arrival. This was such a lovely touch. The rooms were all lovely, and it was nice that there were so many fresh towels for us to use. The kitchen was also very well equipped. The location of the house is fantastic, and a great base for exploring both North and South Uist and beyond. The garden was also nice to sit and eat our meals in (amazing views too). Stella Maris really was a very special holiday home in a spectacular location. Thank you!

Fabulous location, delighted with the welcome pack which included a lemon drizzle cake. Had lots of sightings of a pair of short eared owls. Had a very special visit from a sea eagle which was hounded out of the bay by a buzzard. Loved our time on Benbecula.

This is a wonderful property, close to amenities but also with a peaceful location. Really well-appointed and a great base to explore the islands

Perfect , wonderful hosts and welcome pack too. We had such a great week, walking and watching the wildlife locally was an added bonus.

If you love the wild places and want to explore the remoteness and beauty of the Outer Hebrides, yet enjoy comfort, access to essential facilities such as a well provided for shop for supplies, places to eat, and even the most obligingly helpful and friendly garage (one car in the party had a tyre air leak) then look no further. Stella Maris is close to perfect: generously equipped and wonderfully located, you can do no better. It is central to all the Islands from Berneray in the North to to Eriskay in the South and all stops in-between so ideal for touring, walking and discovering local artisan crafts, the history and cultural delights that the Islands offer. We found it hard to leave and already yearn to return.

My family and I had a lovely stay at Stella Maris. A very comfortable home where we could relax in the evenings. In a central area to make a good base for exploring the islands. An added bonus for us, we were close to family. We will definitely be back and would recommend Stella Maris to anyone thinking about visiting the Outer Hebrides.

I cannot recommend this property enough, we loved every minute of it, the house is so well equipped, warm and cosy and Joan who manages the property is a delight and so kind and helpful. I already want to plan a return trip. If you are looking for peace and quiet and stunning scenery this is the place, one of the few places I have ever stayed where I was heartbroken to leave! Don't be put off by the weather or the long journey, this place is totally worth it!

Lovely property and much bigger than I expected it would be. There was a generosity of spirit felt as soon as we arrived in terms of the generous welcome pack and amount of basics such as towels, throws, toilet rolls etc which is quite rare in holiday properties - created a very homely feel. The setting of the house is truly amazing with beautiful views out of every window and a step outside taking you straight to the shore line. Local beach (5 mins away) was breathtaking. There is no doubt that it is a long way to travel but if you are looking for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then this has to be it - we are already discussing when we might visit again! Thank you.

There is a very well appointed and equipped kitchen, which was absolutely spotless. The house is right next to the sea and is in a very convenient position. Our hosts were very generous indeed, providing treats or various kinds. Very kind and thoughtful of them. There were plenty of books and games which we didn't use, but they make the house very homely. I would have awarded 4.5 stars but the system only allows 4 or 5.

The property is ideally located to explore the Uists, with services close by. Both short eared owls and hen harriers watched from the garden.
