For a touch of off-grid magic, look no further than this stunning escape with highlights including a private beach and al fresco wood-fired bath. Set among the wilds of Argyll and Bute, nestled in the west of Scotland with breathtaking views over the sea and misty mountains beyond, this traditional croft offers a romantic escape for two away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

With no electricity and no Wi-fi, Na Mara Bothy offers the perfect digital detox - a chance to reconnect with nature and each other. Handy battery packs are provided for you to charge essential devices while enjoying a more sustainable escape.

Meaning ‘of the sea’, dog-friendly Na Mara Bothy is well-named, being just a few steps away from the shoreline, and hidden away down tranquil winding lanes on a historical estate dating back to the 8th Century, it’s as peaceful as you can get with just grazing sheep as your neighbours.

From the moment you arrive, everyday worries will slip from your shoulders as you step into the rustic open plan living area. At one end, there’s a well-equipped kitchen with curving hand-built wooden worktops, gas oven and hob, gas run fridge and Belfast sink – the ideal space to rustle up meals to impress your loved one. Next to this, there’s a dining -table with pretty views from the adjacent window that’s perfect for hearty breakfasts and planning adventures, as well as peaceful evening meals, in the glow of the battery-powered fairy lights, where you can reflect on the discoveries of the day and the setting sun.

At the other end of the room, there’s a cosy sitting-area, complete with a midnight blue sofa swathed in cushions and throws and a welcoming gingham armchair that’s perfect for a spot of reading. Whether you’re sipping a glass of wine or enjoying a board game by lantern light, there’s a roaring wood-burner to curl up in front of – blissful for both humans and four-legged friends – that effortlessly heats the whole property. Dogs are treated too, with a comfy bed, basket and bowl on hand to make their stay just as perfect as yours.

As the day ends, you’ll discover the sumptuous double bed up among the eaves via a short climb up a whitewashed ladder staircase - a haven for drifting into a deep sleep with just the sound of the waves as your soundtrack and sink into the emerald-green armchair before sleep calls. You’ll find the rustic shower-room just outside - a charming wooden lean-to complete with WC, sink and rainfall shower with plenty of hot water to wake you up in the morning and wash sandy toes after a day on the beach.

Mr. Morrison

Had a wonderful unique stay at the Bothy. The beach is beautiful and secluded, it's a shame the weather was always in flux but that just meant we had to make the most of the calm sunny moments. The outdoor bath was good fun. It is a bit of a walk from the car to the Bothy but we got lucky and bumped into Darren who gave use a lift in his pickup with our bags.

All in all would recommend a stay here for the adventurous types and we would be up for staying again.

Treat yourself to a memorable off grid experience in this stunning place.

Mr Lewis

Lovely location, great taste of off grid accommodation with stunning views and climate to match. Dress for rain, expect snow and pray for sun. What ever the weather chucked at us we had an experience that has deepened our enjoyment of life without the need for Wi-Fi, tv, radio, drinking or hot water from a tap, central heating and electric lights.
The outdoor bath must be tried once, the beach must be visited every day and the 5 minute walk to the car over the hilly sheep filled field should be planned.
