Reviews

The Tea Hut is situated up a private drive in High Hurstwood. Nestled in the picturesque Sussex countryside it is a great base from which to explore Ashdown Forest and the local towns of Crowborough and Lewes.

This beautifully renovated self-contained studio has an open plan design which cleverly incorporates the kitchen, dining, sitting and bedroom areas. There is also a separate shower-room with large shower. During the colder months take advantage of the under-floor heating and cosy up next to the wood-burner.

Outside is a courtyard with your own table, chairs and barbecue. It is a lovely spot where you can soak up the sun or enjoy al fresco dining. There is also a lawn and seating area which can be used privately.

The surrounding woodlands lead to some great walks. Within the grounds is a well-kept tennis court, available to use by prior arrangement with the owner next door.

If you fancy having a go at some pottery, the owner has her own studio and can offer pottery and ceramic lessons. Please book in advance.

Just across the courtyard from The Tea Hut is Medleys Barn (4476). This stunning barn conversion has two bedrooms and can be booked together with The Tea Hut to accommodate six guests.

Ms Gray

I had a wonderful break at the Tea Hut, which is very comfortable; lovely bed and woodburning stove. The cottage is charming, had everything one needs and perfect for pets. It was easy to reach Lewes, Rye, the coast, walking on the downs and local pubs and restaurants. Lovely hosts.

Mrs Jepson

Miss Gray

A wonderful spot to relax. Perfect with a dog. Access to the woods and walks for the dog were just wonderful. Walked straight out and never did the same route twice. Wood burned was great and it was lovely and warm in the Tea Room with the underfloor heating. The bed was super comfy and we had a relaxing time in a perfect spot for us and the Dog. Thank you.

Mrs Pool

A fantastic location for exploring this part of Sussex with many National Trust properties and the coast within 45 minutes drive away. This studio style property has everything you need to get away from it all and our hosts were friendly and welcoming but gave us space to enjoy our holiday.

Mrs Chaderton

Delightful open plan cottage for two, perfectly situated to explore East Sussex. It is quiet and relaxed, with an excellent pub a mile or so away (sadly uphill on the way back!). We didn’t know the area so enjoyed exploring the Ashdown Forest and a few of the local castles and villages.

Mr Smith

We had a fabulous time staying at the tea hut! The accommodation was exactly what we needed for our break with our baby. The peace at night was very welcoming and the woodland walks during the day were breathtaking.

Miss Jefferis

Lovely place to stay, well furnished and very clean. The grounds were also lovely with local walks & pubs to visit, as well as Ashdown Forest a little further down the road.

Mrs Sinclair

The owners are both friendly and helpful, with just the right amount of contact when necessary! but happy to leave you alone to enjoy the stay.

Mrs Godfrey

A delightful cottage. Perfect for a relaxing break in the countryside. Would thoroughly recommend.
