Spinneywood
Perhaps the most astounding views one would be lucky enough to experience on the Cornish coastline, this beautifully appointed cottage sits in an elevated position overlooking Gillan Creek, just south of the Helford River mouth, a location completely unspoilt and undisturbed. There is exceptional attention to detail inside and out, with a panoramic sun/snug room which gives unparalleled views of the sea and the sky, pioneering in the art of sublime escapism.
The kitchen/diner area is open plan and perfect for socialising with your loved ones. There is a big table for everyone to gather round for a holiday feast, complete of course with stunning sea views and French door access to one of the external seating areas where you can enjoy your meals in the fresh oceanic air.
Dawn and dusk here is completely captivating. You can watch the sun rise from the comfort of your stylish bedroom, whichever you choose - each offering a slightly different aspect, but all beautiful in their own right. Time runs away as you watch the streams of colour from the sun fade to oranges and pinks, and there is probably no better place to get a clear view of our Milky Way with no light pollution, for a magical experience that you will never forget.
There are gifts in every season in this very special place; in spring the garden comes alive with flora and fauna. In summer, the ocean reflects the blue skies, and the cove is not more than a five-minute walk down the valley from your doorstep. In autumn, kick through crunchy leaves but don't put your sandals away just yet, as the sheltered cove is the perfect place to swim and by local opinion, this is the best time of year to do so! During the cooler wintery months, retreat from the elements and watch commanding storms showcase the famous Cornish 'horizontal rain', turn to vibrant rainbows. Or perhaps curl up by the flickering flames of the log-burner on the big comfortable sofa, and you can still see the glimmer of the ocean!

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.
Mrs Cox
We had an excellent stay at Spinneywood. The property had everything that you would need and was even better than the photos. The view was breathtaking. Would love to come back one day.
Mrs Lowe
We loved our stay at this idyllic house. It was very well equipped - everything you need to cook up a gourmet meal, or bbq in the garden, whatever takes your fancy. We were a multi generational group and there was something for everyone . The views are incredible . We went to the little beach at Flushing (a few minutes walk) and at Gillan (a couple of minutes further on) every day .It was never crowded as there is no public parking. There is plenty to do if you enjoy messing about in the water- swimming, kyacking, paddle boarding etc. The water is clean and clear. We also did lots of walking to Helford, Porthallow etc. There are lots of options. We ate out at The Shipwrights in Helford - very good , but the rest of the time we were more than happy to stay at Spinneywood enjoying the wonderful surroundings. The driving around the very narrow local lanes can be a bit hair-raising but it does mean that it’s not crowded anywhere ! We will definitely be back hopefully next year.
Mr Babbs
Spinnywood is a wonderful property. The views from the sunroom, patio and BBQ area are fabulous. Plenty of room for 6 people to move about and our dog loved chasing the rabbits! There is a short walk though the field down to the little quiet beach. I would highly recommend a week away in this wonder holiday home.
Mrs Rennison
Wonderful week spent at this beautiful house. We walked from the house each day and the walks were both scenic and showed so much of the variety of the local area. It was however so hard to pull ourselves away from the glorious views from the sun room where we lost hours just watching the changing light across the creek and sea, utterly mesmerising. Will definitely book again, such a wonderful place.
Mrs Spurdens
This is a real 5 star holiday home that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend. So nice to find a dog friendly property of such great quality. It really is as good as it looks in the pictures.
Mrs Pickford
This property is in an amazing tranquil location with views over the beautiful Gillan creek. The local roads are narrow ( but fairly quiet when we went) so it takes a long time to drive anywhere. But we didn’t feel the need to go far because of the location. Recommend Shipwrights Arms and Cadgwith Cove Inn ( we walked to Cadgwith from Kennack Sands there is very limited parking at Cadgwith) Spar shop in St Keverne good for essentials.
Mr Grace
Spinneywood is one stunning house, very comfortable and cosy with the most stunning views across the bay from the conservatory while relaxing on the sofa. The garden is amazing and well maintained, and having been a landscape gardener for many years, you appreciate a good garden and a good garden makes a house. The property is very well located for exploring the surrounding area and coastal paths.
Mr Healy
Lovely location and view, and house was very comfortable even with 5 adults and a dog. Plenty of comfortable seating, and separate spaces. Good service from housekeeper.
Mrs Furlepa
Lovely accommodation with excellent views of the sea. Access via the narrow lanes was sometimes difficult when faced with oncoming cars and tractors
