Reviews

A luxurious residence with far reaching sea views offering a real home-from-home any time of year, and in the idyllic and tranquil setting of Gillan Creek, Marnylunn means 'mariners cove' in Cornish, which is very apt with charming Flushing Cove only 150 yards from your front door. This beautiful property is simply perfect for spending time in, on, or near the water - whether it be wild swimming or in your heated pool, sailing, kayaking, blustery walks along the coastal path or getting back to nature with the ones you love, this is hidden Cornwall at its best.

This gorgeous property has been very comfortably refurbished by the owner, light and airy in the summer but cosy in the winter. Sheltering in this romantic Cornish landscape you will find your true holiday destination. As you enter the property it opens out in front of you and the house is light and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped with a large American fridge/freezer, a gas range cooker and essential Nespresso coffee machine.

Leading off the kitchen, past the drinks counter with built-in fridge, is the large dining-room which seats 12 people (please watch your step and mind your head on the ceiling). Open the bi-fold doors in the warmer months where steps lead down to the pool area, or just enjoy taking in the view through the picture windows.

The cosy sitting-room with Sonos sound system has a simply gorgeous sofa to sink into with views over the pool, garden and of course the Helford River beyond. The wood-burning stove is a delight for those cooler evenings and ideal after a swim in the cove. Additional comfortable seating is provided by a number of armchairs which can be pulled up too.

The house has three bedrooms all with fabulous super-king size beds and White Company linen. The main bedroom boasts the best views of course and has an en suite bathroom. The further two bedrooms each have their own shower-room and 'zip and link' beds that can be configured as two singles if required and every bathroom has lovely Faith and Nature soap and shower gel too. There is also a handy study space and good WIFI should you need to work on holiday or perhaps tuck yourself away to carry out research - maybe on the night sky which can be astonishing as this is an area of low light density (please watch your head on the low ceiling when descending the stairs from the study to the entrance hall).

The annexe, just across from the front door, provides the perfect extra living space for larger parties, teenagers or grandparents. Set above the garage on the first floor it is wonderfully tranquil. There is a super-king bed (also 'zip and link'), shower-room, kitchenette and living-room with views over the house and to the sea. There is also occasional sleeping for an extra two guests on the day beds in the annexe, please let our office know if you require these beds when booking.

Babes in arms up to six months old are welcome.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mr Sheppard

This is our second stay at this great location. The car didn't leave the drive for the whole week as we walked along the coastal path most days, along the creek. The beach is 5 mins away and a quick walk over to the next beach is only a 10 minutes walk. Once there you can join the coastal path. This is a great area for photography. Lots of wildlife and seascapes to capture. There is a squirrel that runs across the patio every day which is fun to watch. The gardens are huge here and a credit to the gardener. We stewed freshly picked apples from the orchard and ate raspberries from the veg plot. Unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough to use the pool this time. The kitchen is very well equipped which meant we could prepare meals easily, home from home. Tesco deliver to this house too, which saved a journey to the supermarket. This is a great place for celebrating if there are a lot of you. The discounts are well received too for smaller parties. We hope to return.

Mrs Bate

What can I say, Marnylunn had everything four generations could have wished for, spectacular views, peace and relaxation, wonderful location, much fun and laughter,... and the added bonus of a much enjoyed pool. Thank you

Mrs Murphy

Can’t say enough about this place it has everything beautiful house perfectly set out. Every room with own bathroom. Kitchen equiped with everything you would have in your own home. Pool at at a lovely temp and clean with gorgeous surroundings. A little walk down to local cove and view ??. Amanda the house keeper was just lovely and very helpful. A few points to mention as a tip rather than a fault. Pool does not have steps in/out so for me a little difficult. Make sure you do order a shopping delivery on arrival and possible pre-book another for later in week. As although shops are only 5 milea away it actually takes about 25 mins to get there due to speed you have to travel on roads. Also wifi great in main house but Annex doesnt really work. We went to Ship Wreck Arms in Helford for lunch which was lovely and good to go crabbing down by the ferry crossing. Poldhu beach waa nice for a day out but no dogs allowed from 1st july- 31st august as seems same for most beaches now ?? The Three Tuns was lovely for an evening out. Thanks again to the owner Peta for letting us stay in this amazing house and also Amanda for such a nice welcome and assisting when needed ??

Mr Baker

What an amazing property, the house and gardens are stunning with attention to detail. The photos honestly do not do it justice enough. Such a tranquil setting for getting away and either exploring or simply enjoying everything the house has to offer. Communication from the owner is also excellent providing extra information to make your stay even better.

Miss Vickers

Amazing house in a great location for access to coastal walks - if you can tear yourself away from the house and pool! We had a fantastic week walking the coastal paths in between lazing by the pool. The house really has everything you could possibly need for a lovely relaxing holiday. Thank you x

Mrs Heaton

Beautiful house and grounds, peace and tranquility, with a lovely swimming pool to entertain everybody, owner and housekeeper and maintenance guy were all really nice too, friendly.Cove a short walk away from the house.Be prepared for narrow lanes for at least 8 miles to get to the property.Tescos and Sainsburys will deliver.

Mrs Brisdon

Marnylunn is a wonderful accommodation - adaptable for a variety of needs with the added annex. The owner and housekeeper couldn't have been more accommodating. Such a wonderful part of the Cornish South coast bringing River meets Sea together with wonderful walks and just perfect for messing about in boats - whether in the cove/river or further out to sea. Easy boat and canoe hire available right on your doorstep and well worth doing. Such a beautiful house and gardens with a lovely heated pool. Hope to be back again for future visits! Many thanks!

Mr Bird

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Marnylunn, this home is stunning inside and out. The furnishing inside are top quality and comfortable and the grounds outside are amazing with the views and heated pool being the cherry on the cake, even though we stayed in July being heated was a welcome asset thanks to the great British summer weather ! Thank you to the owners, housekeeper and Classic for a lovely stay, we will be back for sure.

Miss Smith

Had a fantastic time, property had everything you needed, fantastic gardens, loved the pool ,cove just down the road, can't wait to go back.

Dr Parkyn

Lovely well equipped house everything provided. Plenty of space ideal for a family holiday. Pool fun especially for the children! Beautiful garden full of flowers bees and bird song and seasonal vegetables to be harvested by guests! Quiet cove just a couple of minutes away.

Mrs Penn

Best equiped holiday home we've ever stayed in. Everything you could want in the kitchen, great bathrooms & very comfy beds. The setting and views are amazing with the lovely garden to wander round. A great home away from home. The annex is a little gem! Do make sure you take the 5 minute walk down to the cove, then wander along the coast path to the right - its beautiful.

Mrs James

Great property in a fabulous with excellent facilities. We took advantage of all that was on offer. We ate fruit and picked flowers from the garden. Amazing local walks to some fantastic eateries. We recommend a walk to the Holy Mackerel in Helford or Fat Apples for lunch. For an excellent dinner try The Ship Inn in Mawgan. We rented a boat from Sailaway in St Anthony and enjoyed fresh mackerel for tea. For something really special try a cruise abroad Tethra (Blue River Table) on the Fal. Enjoyed our stay immensely and would love to return.

Mr Sheppard

This is a beautiful place to stay and the gardens are spectacular. Great location for walking from the house. The beach is just down the road. The directions to the house, around country roads, were very clear and easy to follow. The last bit is a lot of single track roads but there are passing places, just watch out for supermarket delivery drivers!! I did a google map virtual tour of the last bit of directions and so I knew where the last sign was to Flushing, which was otherwise hidden in the hedge and we may have missed it. The pool was great in October as we had good weather. The walks from the beach around the Estuary are stunning especially round to Gillan Cove. We totally relaxed and beach combed a lot. This is far better than the photos show and the wildlife and coastal views and star gazing is a photographer's paradise.

Mrs Gleed

Beautiful location with views of Helford River running out to sea. Marnylunn is a spacious property within walking distance to the coastal path. The additional use of an Annexe for two created privacy within a family holiday. The kitchen is exceptional including a wine fridge and ice maker for those summer evening around the pool or sitting by the fire pit.

Dr Craig

We had a fantastic stay in Marnylunn. The cover had been left of the pool for our arrival which made for the best wow factor and our children bee lined for it. The views are sensational, the garden is larger than it looks and has a small but prolific orchard, the kitchen was superbly equipped and there were plenty of little extras to make us feel spoilt. The mouth of the river is just at the bottom of the road and we popped down there every day. We have already booked to stay again.

Mrs Bennett

We absolutely loved our week at Marnylunn. A beautiful house set in an equally beautiful location, with stunning views to wake up to, we couldn’t have asked for more. The house was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable We wanted a peaceful holiday and got it. We did take a few trips out to Falmouth and Penzance which were easy to get to by car. The last few miles is down narrow lanes but drive slowly and with care and you will be fine. Owner even texted with some useful information the day before which was nice. Will definitely look to return to Marnylunn.

Ms Gunn

A beautifully refurbished home in a unique and very peaceful setting. It was amazing to wake up every morning and look down the valley, over the garden, to the boats sitting on the river below. The house is very private but not isolated. It's tucked away down country lanes , so it takes a while to get anywhere. But really, the generous swimming pool, the garden (including fruit and veg to pick), the brilliantly equipped kitchen, the comfy living room, the barbecue and fire pit, the cove at the bottom of the road for swimming, proximity to coast path, and boat hire on the river means you don't need to go anywhere. A really special experience.

Dr Grimsell

This property is beautiful and decorated to a very high standard. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. The wifi worked well and information at the property explained everything very clearly. There was also a folder detailing places to visit, restaurants etc which we found very helpful. The kitchen has everything that you need to cook including cake making equipment. We really enjoyed the fresh scones, clotted cream and jam that were waiting for us. We made full use of everything including the fire pit and barbecue. I appreciated the text messages from the owner who was happy to be contacted in addition to the housekeeper Amanda if we needed any information or help with anything. We had an amazing stay at Marnylunn and enjoyed the quieter area of Cornwall where it is located.

Mr Upton

We had a lovely week at Marnylunn. Great house, great setting, great pool. The location is a bit out of the way, which on the plus side means it is very quiet and "local" but on the minus side means it is 20 minutes driving to get to a main road. But Flushing Cove, 200m down the lane, is really nice. Helford, 10 minutes drive, is similarly nice. The area is great for walks. For a quiet time away from it all, you couldn't choose a better house.
