Reviews

Chynhalls Farm House is a charming 300 year old, Grade II Listed, Cornish thatched cottage in the beautiful fishing village of Coverack, recently restored into a fine example of an authentic cottage with huge character and boasts an expansive headland garden and an enclosed courtyard garden.

Situated on the serene and unspoilt National Landscape (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) on Coverack headland and looking directly out over the bay to Coverack's famous sandy beach and picturesque fishing harbour, it has stunning 270 degree views of the sea.

The cottage is one of the oldest in the village and was a farm for over three centuries, when the headland was used only for agricultural land and livestock grazing. It has been said that the original footings and key stones were salvaged from a monastery on the headland in the 12th Century which was subsequently torn down and ravaged after the Medieval Inquisition.

With Mears beach practically on your doorstep and only a few minutes' walk to Coverack's main beach and harbour with the local Paris Inn pub, it is the perfect place to stay and soak in the unique and peaceful setting and its spectacular, clear starry nights. The property is a wonderful eclectic mix of traditional and modern, and every divine luxury has been lavished upon.

This gorgeous sanctuary offers a spacious and calming retreat with original features such as ornamental fireplaces, beamed ceilings and traditional thatched roof. Entering via the sunny courtyard, you will be met by the light but cosy living area which leads on to a maze of charming rooms and spaces. The enchanting, sea blue snug offers a hideaway to snuggle down and has wonderful outlooks over Coverack and beyond.

The kitchen, separated from the living area by a marble stoned hall and pantry, is light and airy and everything you'd expect from a traditional cottage kitchen. The pantry has plenty of space - perfect for keeping the champagne cool on the wide, slate shelves. There is a hand-built oak kitchen, with many modern appliances. The traditional Aga (lit from early October to the end of April) and belfast sink are accompanied by the modern Bosch hob and Samsung dual cook oven, along with a Bosch dishwasher, large Bosch family fridge/freezer, Bosch washing machine and Smeg drier.

The long dining-room looks out over the pretty courtyard which is a fabulous sun trap. This high beamed room provides a tranquil space for a sunny breakfast and atmospheric candlelit family dining. There is plenty of additional living space in the conservatory too, which has a sublime view out to sea - it's as perfect for summer evenings as it is for winter days, or to have a little peace and quiet hidden away from the rest of the house.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mr Blake

The definition of brilliant location in an area of unspoilt perfection. High quality accommodation that will just keep encouraging you to return…our second stay.

Miss Kildunne

Coverack is a lovely quiet location to spend with family. The cottage is situated right by the coastal path with beautiful walks, harbours and coves all not too far away. The cottage itself is equipped with nearly everything you need apart from a microwave! Also check all the amenities you require prior to booking. Unfortunately there wasn’t any outside seating when we were there so alfresco dining was out - we went for picnics instead. Also we didn’t have access to TV apps such as Netflix which if we had known we would have brought a better device for my little one. Beware the ceilings are low and banging heads became a little tiresome esp for my 6ft tall husband. We had a lovely holiday but unfortunately the cottage didn’t feel quite right/comfortable for us as a family.

Mrs Byrne

A lovely place to stay with spectacular views outside the cottage. Very spacious downstairs. The fireplaces don't work which I hadn't fully taken on board at the time of booking. Probably ok in summer but in winter would be nice to have even an electric stove type fire in the hearth to add cosiness. Lots of lovely beaches nearby and Coverack is friendly and also very pretty, even in late November.

Ms Harris

If you are looking for a property with period features then this could be the place for you. On our visit we were disappointed with the sea views from the property.

Mr Brewer

A delightful cottage in a splendid situation close to the lovely village of Coverack.

Ms Graves

This is a lovely property with wonderful walks and surprises around every turn. We absolutely loved our stay here. Thank you so very much.

Mr Blake

Excellent character property with easy access to x 2 beaches and the quiet village of Coverack.

Miss Argles

We very much enjoyed our stay at Chynhalls Farm House. The cottage is in an unbeatable location and we were able to watch the sun rise over the sea quite literally from the door. The cottage had everything we might need and the extra touches such as the delicious cream tea awaiting us on arrival were greatly appreciated. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Mr Bradbury

This is a beautiful house in a stunning location but just a short walk from Coverack with its pub and general store. You feel as if you are staying as a guest in someone's home and as such goes beyond a holiday let into a more personal experience. I would certainly recommend this property and hope to return.

Mrs Mountain

A lovely cottage on a quiet road. No traffic noise and a beautiful beach just a short 5 minute walk away made this an absolutely idyllic place to stay. Would recommend!

Mrs Pallister

Glorious location, no need to get the car out and a very easy walk in to the village of Coverack.

Ms Holmes

Beautiful old farmhouse filled with character and comfort in a wonderful position on a headland a short and stunning stroll from the village.

Mr Vanderpump

We loved the house. It was very spacious with a great position for walking into Coverack or down to the beach.

mrs thomas

A charming old farmhouse in a beautiful and peaceful location with stunning walks from the door, but please beware some of the ceilings are very low! Also dog friendly but garden is not enclosed which may be an issue for some.

Mrs Baines

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful setting and would definitely return.

Mrs Dear

A beautiful property with fantastic views. Plenty of space for a family to enjoy a break without getting under each others feet. Such peace and tranquility, a great 'get away from it all'.
