Barn Cottage
Set within one and a half acres of private grounds, this gorgeous cottage was originally part of Polcoverack Farm and housed the mill wheel and grinding stones. A water wheel was once turned by water from the brook in the garden. It was the first mill of three within the valley, with the mill shop by the beach being the last.
The land surrounding Barn Cottage is a real secluded sanctuary and a piece of Cornish heaven. Explore under the canopies that shelter you from the elements and discover the array of trees, shrubs, foliage and flowers that are abundant throughout this ethereal utopia. It is a year-round experience; in spring the garden comes alive with a façade of colour from the gorgeous untamed wildflowers. In summer, the giant gunnera is a magnificent display that towers high. In autumn the hydrangeas cast pops of vibrancy. In winter the mature woodland dominates the landscape. A little brook runs through the grounds, please take care and do not leave children unattended.
The experience doesn't end with the garden, as you enter through the front door you will be greeted by a spacious entrance hall; this is a hybrid space that can also be used as a dining or additional lounging space complete with a large dining-table and some comfy chairs. Perfect for putting down your walking gear after a day on the coastline or for entertaining guests at supper with drinks, nibbles and some games of course!
Take care on the steps leading to the gorgeous open plan living, kitchen and dining space. Sink into the sofas and get snug in front of the toasty new log-burner. There are French doors that lead out to a private walled patio area which is the ideal space for al fresco breakfasts or afternoon aperitifs.
The kitchen is very well appointed and has everything you need to cook up holiday treats. There is a fabulous rangemaster cooker and is a great social space. We love the little touches throughout that make Barn Cottage such an interesting cottage as a base for your holiday. The walls are graced with history, including precious historic architectural boat plans which give a nod to the previous generation of the family. The gentleman who created them was a naval architect and a keen sailor. A fascinating marine artefact and a real conversation starter!
Upstairs is humble, classic and comfortable. You will find a family bathroom, bedroom one has a super-king 'zip and link' which can be made up as twins if you prefer. Bedroom two is just down the hall and is a relaxed double. You will see the chimney from the log-burner, but rest assured this does not get hot and is perfectly safe.

Miss Young
Our stay at Barn Cottage was more than we hoped it could be. The location and cottage were perfect, it was so quiet and relaxing and just what we needed. We will definitely be returning to this cottage as loved everything about it
Miss Cresswell
Quiet location, nice seating area and shady garden, large comfortable beds, lack of basic items, could be cleaner. Very bumpy track to get in/out.
