Reviews

Arguably the most picturesque cove on the Lizard peninsula and still a thriving fishing community, friendly Cadgwith welcomes visitors all year round.

At Kinsale, a pretty, detached thatched cottage just a short uphill walk from the excellent local pub, you feel at home the instant you step inside. Window seats, exposed stone walls and a huge inglenook fireplace; low beams and lintels, steps here and there and a typical dividing cottage staircase – all are charming features enhancing its character and appeal.

The front patio is perfect for watching the world go by, but the steep, terraced rear garden offers the very best views – over the village towards the coastal footpath, and across the cove to the sea beyond.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Groom

Kinsale is a lovely, quirky old cottage with plenty of character. Superb location with amazing views and a stone’s throw from the working harbour and the local pub. An ideal setting in which to wind down and relax.

Herr Espei

A very nice house in a beautiful area.

Mrs Gent

A beautiful cottage, with a really homely and welcoming feel and immaculately clean. Well stocked kitchen with everything you would need to cook and tidy away. In a stunning location, allowing for coastal walks, listening to the waves break on the beach below. Just perfect

Miss Brazington

We had a lovely stay at Kinsale, it’s a beautiful cottage with a lot of interesting history and in a lovely location in Cadgwith Cove. Plenty of walking opportunities on the SW coast path and pretty towns and villages nearby to explore too.

Mrs Flecknoe

Kinsale Cottage is a delightful cottage in a gorgeous location in the beautiful, traditional Cornish village of Cadgwith. Straight from the front door, you can walk the fabulous cliffs; watch the fishing boats going in and out, and enjoy the fruits of the sea at the Cadgwith Cove Inn.

Ms Godwin

Lovely cosy cottage with a homely feel in one of the best positions in Cadgwith.

Dr Lambert

Kinsale is a pretty cottage in an amazing location. It also has one parking space right outside the cottage, which is a rarity in Cadgwith. We did mange to fit our SUV in it, when parked at the right angle! The views are lovely and it really is only a few steps from the cove and the harbour. The cottage was beautifully clean and the kitchen was well equipped. However, there is not enough space for 6 adults to sit comfortably in the lounge and it all feels in need of upgrading / refurbishing. We had mixed weather and didnt really find the cottage a comfortable place to relax in.

Mr Kiefert

Lovely location & cottage offers a great view though outside space was disappointing & could be so much better. Garden furniture needs replacing or repair/painting. Parking for anything other than a small car is about 400 yards away, as described on website but hill is pretty steep so not ideal for everyone. Overall a pleasant stay.

Mr Aylett

Excellent location, lovely cottage Steep terraced back garden affording an excellent view but not suitable for children or anyone not confident with steps

Mrs Finn

Lovely location, better suited to 5, not 6.

Mrs Currie

Website photo gives the impression that front room was large however in reality was tiny and could seat four people max despite it being a cottage for 6. This was deceptive.

Mrs Flecknoe

Kinsale Cottage is full of old-world charm and comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. It’s situation in the heart of the delightful Cornish fishing cove of Cadgwith is ideal for those who, like us, enjoy getting away from the rat-race, walking on the cliffs and sampling the local food and musical traditions.

Mrs Johnson

Although we enjoyed our days out and long walks immensely it was also wonderful to just absorb the atmosphere at Kinsale. Make time to sit on the top terrace for the views and in the front garden to actually see fisherman at work just below.

Mrs Brown

We stayed a week in Kinsale as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children). We loved the cottage, traditional features, comfortable furnishings and well provisioned. It was great to be able to read the fascinating history of Kinsale. The views from upstairs and the garden were stunning and lovely to lie in bed listening to the waves. Katy the housekeeper was lovely, gave us lots of advice about where to go locally and was really quick to sort a minor problem we had with the boiler. The village is beautiful and unspoilt. We ate at Cadgwith Cove Inn twice and food and welcome were lovely. We all enjoyed watching the fishermen bringing home their catch onto the beach, a rare chance to see. The coastal path walks are spectacular views from the village. Slightly further away from larger towns but not so busy which we preferred. We loved the cottage and village and felt very lucky to have had our time there.

Mrs Bruce Lockhart

GO - you will love it!

Mr Morris

Stunning cottage, stunning village. Lovely pub with great food & very friendly locals. Word of warning though, triple check you have everything when you leave, it will not be returned!

Mrs Reynolds

Not been disappointed yet ??

Mrs Simms

A beautiful cottage in a spectacular location.

Mrs Headdey

Beautiful cottage in a stunning coastal location. All the previous visitors to the cottage commented in the Visitors book about how much they all enjoyed their stays here and we are no different, great place to visit. Our stay in April was sunny but a little chilly in the late afternoons- but suitability wrapped up, a G&T on the top terrace overlooking the harbour was the perfect way to finish a day of walks on the SW coastal paths that surround Cadgwith.

Ms Reznikova

It was such a privilege to stay in this gorgeous house which sits sideways on to the harbour in this stunning village. It really is the most perfect location. The house is surprisingly spacious and so cosy in winter with its shutters, log burner, and thick walls. Nothing disturbed us, not even storm Eunice and it’s aftermath. The villagers were very friendly, the pub handy, the post-office in Ryan Minor really helpful (serving excellent coffee, too) and the public car park a godsend to avoid navigating the seriously steep and twisting road to parking every day. Cadgwith is a jewel in Cornwall’s beautiful crown and we felt very lucky to have been able to find a week when we-and this house- were free. I have one piece of advice- don’t hesitate! Go! You will adore it.

Mr Judd

Lovely authentic thatched cottage, which was spacious enough for 6 people and had fantastic views.

Mrs McCormack

Beautiful quaint traditional cottage in a charming village.

Mr Cape

Kinsale is a lovely, spacious, thatched cottage, cosy and in an ideal location, being only steps away from the coastal path and the excellent local pub.It has good views of the coast and the harbour. It is well equipped and comfortable and full of character and history.

Mrs Kayes

Great location with pub and beach only a few short steps away.

Mr Pike

Kinsale is in a wonderful location, however could do with some TLC to bring the property in line with the levels required at this price point.

Mr Lewis

Kinsale sits in a prime, stunning location. Handy for the coast path and a good local pub. Sitting on the front patio watching the boats come in, life pass by, is a lovely way to spend an evening. Special. Parking in Cadgwith is a challenge so to have its own spot is a bonus, BUT, the spot, in our opinion, is only really suitable for a small car. There is an alternative parking spot but it is quite a lengthy walk away. There are a number of level changes within the house and the main stairs are steep with narrow treads. The en-suite bathroom is very tiny, quite dark. By comparison, the family bathroom is bright, airy and spacious. A characterful property.

Mr Barber

Tastefully restored thatched cottage. Wonderful Inglenook granite fireplace which is the heart of the cottage. This is one of the nicest cottages in Cadgwith. I have been in most of them.

Mrs Flecknoe

Kinsale cottage more than lived up to our expectations. It was very well equipped with everything that we could need, and very cosy. The little schoolroom was ideal for our grandchildren to play and draw in, and for us to leave our walking boots and beach gear. The two terraces are just wonderful: the lower one catches the morning sun, and the upper one is lovely in the evenings. Cadgwith is one of our favourite places in all the world, not only because it is beautiful but because it still has a strong sense of community,

Mr Cooper

totally recommend, too small a village to get too busy, cadgwith crab was excellent, very peaceful, well-equipped cottage with great views and great swimming within 50m

Mrs De'Ath

Wonderful cottage, everything you need and more. Super location. Perfect for walking, eating wonderful food, and simply relaxing at the cottage. Thank you!

Mr McCombie

Lovely cottage; lovely location.

Mrs McEneaney

Fabulous cottage. Great location. The description is right about parking and a long uphill walk to alternative parking.

Miss Saunders

We had a fabulous stay at Kinsale, just what we all needed after the last year. The cottage is great, full of character, clean, tidy, well equipped kitchen and what a view! Would definitely return here again!

Mrs Bartlett

We had a wonderful stay at Kinsale . The cottage is full of character and is very cosy and comfortable . The extension lead to the little electric fire in the dining room wasn’t working . This is not a complaint - just letting the owners know so it can be sorted and the fire can be used when it gets chilly .

Mrs Hooper

Beautiful location, but cottage has poor lighting and tired furnishings.

Ms Jones

It’s speaks volumes that I return time after time, it is a haven, a retreat in the most beautiful spot on the coast. Bliss.

Mr Roberts

This is a beautiful cottage that was very well presented, with generous and thoughtful homely touches. It was cosy and warm and surprisingly quiet while Storm Dennis raged.

Mrs Harvey

Now TV was a great touch as we caught up on some old movies

Mrs Smith

If you can’t find what you need in the cottage for a perfect holiday you probably won’t need it. An outstanding location too.

Mr Parker

We were really grateful to be able to extend our stay for an extra night to watch the rugby World Cup final, although the result was not in our favour!

Mrs Jefferies

An historic cottage in a picturesque location. We had a comfortable stay at Kinsale and enjoyed the stunning views over the working harbour below.

Mr Smart

We loved our stay at the cottage. It’s a beautiful property in a gorgeous setting and everything we hoped it would be. We look forward to returning in the future

Mrs Phillips

Kinsale is as always a joy to visit. It would be very hard to beat the location.

Mr Weighardt

Kinsale is a charismatic historical cottage in an excellent location. We enjoyed the exciting view, the active live in the fishing village and the nearance to the CoastPath. For the next stay we would desire some new mattrasses.

Mrs Joneleit

We had a great time at the cottage. The house was beautiful and clean, and the location was perfect! We loved sitting outside to enjoy the stunning views from the terrace. We cannot wait to return. Thanks for the great stay!

Mrs Horne

we love this cosy cottage this is our second stay and we hope to come back next year.

Miss Fearnall

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. Just be aware that it is situated at the bottom of a steep hill down a narrowish lane. I would highly recomnend this property as it is stunning.

Mr Renfftlen

Kinsale is very cosy, well equipped, perfectly renovated. We loved it to start our trips on the coast path from the doorstep in breathtaking coastal location. One of the loveliest places in Cornwall!

Mr Clarke

A truly quintessentiall thatched country cottage in a stunning location . Cadgwith is a wonderful warm friendly community with a wonderful pub . This is a wonderful place to really kick-back at any time of year.

Mrs Budge

You’d go a long way to beat the location

Mrs Vickers

Liked the location the cosines of the house the ease of getting keys the kitchen equipment and the peacefulness of the surroundings. The village is still has a lively fishing community and it was great being a part of that. Local pub within 2 minutes of walking and the southwest coastal path on your doorstep. Great local shop and family Cornish pasty business, all in all just perfect The owners have gone to a great deal of trouble in providing excellent information about the house and lots of useful leaflets on local things to do.

Mrs Phillips

We love visiting Kinsale it feels like coming home. Thank you for making it such a lovely cottage and special thanks to the housekeeper.

Mrs Berry

Very lovely holiday cottage in stunning location.Ideal for taking the dog on holiday because of the location to the no restrictions cove a stone throw away.

Ms Lane

Kinsale is a pretty dog friendly cottage in a beautiful area close enough for all facilities but far enough to feel emersed in Cornish life it was a fabulous holiday.

Ms Harvey

A very old quaint and comfortable cottage in a lovely fishing village with super pub - good food, quiz and folk nights. Excellent general store 10 minute walk away.

Mrs Budge

Perfect location in a beautiful village.

Mr Stott

Ideally located but needs upgrading to a higher standard to compete within the market. However the character is lovely.

Mr Marriott

Mrs Horne

We had a wonderful holiday the cottage was beautiful and Cadgwith was so picturesque and friendly. we will be returning.Thank you.

Ms Howells

Kinsale is in a wonderfull position and is very cosy, spacious and well-equipped. The lovely terrace is perhaps not suitable for toddlers and the infirm. I would recommend this gorgeous cottage!

Mrs Robertson

So many people have said the exact things that we would, such a great cottage in a great location couldn't want for more

Mr Vinters

Recommend to anyone and everyone

Mrs Thomas

Lovely cottage, full of charm and immaculate throughout. Very peaceful location - apart from closing time on Saturday night! Great pub too, locals extremely friendly.

Mrs Phillips

Our fourth visit and we have already booked for 2018. This is a great cottage in a lovely location.

Mrs Blewitt

Lovely oldy worldly thatched cottage. Fantastic location. Would highly recommend it.

Mr Coghlan

The Lizard peninsular is spectacular and Cadgwith in the winter was glorious. Kinsale is really well positioned close to the sea but on the side of the valley with lovely views. It is very well appointed and very comfortable.

Mr Pike

Great location if you enjoy peace and quiet. Not so good for local restaurant choice.

Mr Tinley

We loved our stay in Kinsale House - it's a unique property in a beautiful village, and a fantastic base to explore the South West Cornwall coastline.

Mrs Woods

Excellent cottage. Had good fun with all the family and found the locals every morning for the dog walking. Very dog friendly.

Mrs Bush

We loved our cottage in the beautiful village Cadgwith. It was everything we wanted from our Cornish holiday. The pub just a 100 yards away served amazing food, the local shop had the best ice cream with so many flavours. Fresh crab sandwiches from the Harbour cafe have to be tried - so fresh and tasty. Our lovely cottage was quircky, quaint, pretty, so full of character and very comfortable. You are central for the best walks and scenery. My family will be back next year.

Mr Pawson

Our holiday experience in Kinsale Cottage was quite simply unsurpassable. We felt at home straightaway and the beauty of Cadgwith captured us from our first glimpse at the harbour. Definitely did not want to leave !

Mrs Stocker

Kinsale is just lovely. All rooms nicely decorated cosy warm and very clean a well fitted kitchen and a lovely comfortable bathroom make the stay extremely enjoyable. Cadgwith is a real gem and the view from the cottage garden out onto the sea and down to the harbour is just tremendeous. I would recommend this place to everbody who likes walking and relaxing in unspoilt most beautiful nature. We stayed two weeks in Kinsale and could have done with a further week!

Ms Dexter

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location.

Mrs Rogers

Katy the house keeper was there when we arrived and made us feel at home straight away..........no issue with anything and felt the photos did the cottage an injustice to the amount of space we all had, all six of us and two dogs.........we loved the location and the additional parking up the hill came in very handy as we used it for both vehicles. We loved every minute of our stay and have all promised ourselves to return to not just cadgwith but that cottage in the future, thank you for sharing it with us.

Mrs Phillips

A big thank you to Classic Cottages, the owners and the housekeeper for making our stay memorable, comfortable and we hope to be back. We particularly appreciated that the suggestions we made when we stayed in 2014 had been implemented. The cottage is very well equipped and clean. I love the decoration and the attention to detail. It feels like staying in a friend's cottage rather than a impersonal holiday cottage. The cottage is clearly loved by its owners and we love staying here.

Mr Carey

This cottage invites you in and puts it arms around you. The longer you stay the harder it is to leave, but you have to leave so you can return.

Mrs Neely

A cosy, comfortable cottage with a contemporary feel.

Mrs Andrews

Lovely welcome warm clean but never got that feeling back e.g warmy

Mr Pritchard

Dream cottage, dream location, can't wait to get back !!!!

Mrs Jones

This is a really fabulous holiday home which I am sure the new owners will make improvements to in time. I would love to stay there again

Mrs Brady

Lovely cottage and great location for a very peaceful holiday

Herr Hunkeler

A very lovely place to be!!!!

Mr White

We had a really good week in Kinsale and found it to be warm, comfortable, full of character and well appointed to cope with our number. The kitchen could do with some updating but other than that we had everything we needed and found it to be a perfect location for walks on the South West coast trail, visiting nearby coves and villages and for evenings in the Cadgwith Cove Inn listening to the folk and Cadgwith singers. The pub is on the up, with the new owners (very friendly) improving it all the time. The mussels and crab from the fish shop in the village are excellent. Be warned though, if you're tall - duck! Lot's to bang your head on inside. Many stairs to trip over so it if you are slightly infirm then maybe go for somewhere else. The parking is OK for up to Mondeo size with care. It was fantastic to be so close to the sea and have a week of peace and quiet, with lots around to do when we wanted it. Go to: Kynance Cove, Gweek Seal sanctuary (but look for vouchers first, there are many available usually) Flambards if you have young children, any of the gardens near Constantine, Helford, Church Cove, Mullion and many more others. Portleven is good for fishing trips but has not much else. Avoid Kennack Sands, Lizard Point unless you really want to stand on the Southerly point or got to one of decent little cafes, and Helston apart from shopping in the supermarkets. It's a great little place for an out of season break, but can get busy in high season. We'd go back in a shot.

Miss Bird
