Western Torrs Cottage

Our third stay at this lovely property, it’s so comfortable and homely and the walks from the doorstep are brilliant. The owner provides excellent support and is very welcoming.

Our stay at Western Torrs over Christmas and New Year exceeded our expectations. A truly magical setting, so peaceful and relaxing. The log burner and hot tub really set the scene for a carefree holiday. The cottage is really well equipped, we love to cook and there was everything that you could possibly need. The beds were really comfortable. Sitting in the hot tub on Christmas morning listening to the church bells was just fantastic. Listening to the owls hooting and the river babbling along, honestly, just the best. Spike, the owner was really friendly, i liked the personal meet and greet ?? We have already booked for next Christmas it was so good.

Beautiful location and gorgeous cottage. Stayed in the autumn and loved the fire in the evenings after a hottub! Spike and Nicola made us feel very welcome.

It's a magical place to stay, in the woods, hearing the river , nicely tucked out the way. But close enough to visit beautiful beaches, many that are dog friendly. Larger supermarkets are within a 25 minute drive to do click and collect. The owners can't be more friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return again (this was our 2nd visit) .

Lovely comfortable cottage very tranquil and private

The cottage was a perfect place to rest and relax. The ‘meet and greet’ was super and we both felt comfortable the minute we arrived. The cottage was very welcoming, the log fire was prefect for the chilly evenings, the bed was very comfortable and the hot tub was fun. There were some super walks from the front door and the sound of the river at night was really relaxing. We are looking forward to a return trip, along with our dog who had the best time sitting in the window on squirrel watch!

Our second stay at Western Torrs. We had a lovely peaceful week. It is a very peaceful location. The owners are lovely, always on hand if you need them. The house is well equipped and comfortable. Slept well.

We had an amazing stay at Western Torrs Cottage with our dog Bruno. There are fantastic walks along the river, great places to visit nearby & you get to unwind in the hot tub whilst watching the clouds float by.

This is an excellent property in a beautiful location. The property is secluded and totally private in its own grounds, all you can hear is the local wildlife and the noise of the river as it babbles along. Well equipped and comfortable for our family of four - hot tub is brilliant and loads of outside space to explore and let the kids run in the garden. Easy walks onto local footpaths and the Kitley Estate which are lovely. So many places and fantastic beaches to visit all within 30 to 40 min drive. Highly recommended.

Lovely tranquil cottage with good facilities and plenty of walking on the doorstep. The situation of the cottage means not suitable to let dogs roam free or unsupervised children due to weir and caves etc but having said that there is plenty of area around for activity. Efficient log burner and comfy beds and cottage in general. Would happily return (with our 2 dogs).

Great property lovely location next to the babbling Yealm river - it’s not huge so don’t worry. Great walks straight out the door. Very well appointed with quality fixtures and fittings and furnishings. Hot tub is a great addition. Some lovely beaches nearby but you do need to check if they are dog friendly at anytime of the year. We got caught out a couple of times with a wasted journey. We had a lovely break here.

Western Torrs Cottage was like a fairy tale cottage, the surrounding woods and river at the bottom of garden was amazing. It was a great base for visiting places, beaches that were dog friendly were only up to 15-30 minutes drive away. There were numerous places to visit up to an hour away, like the Butterfly Farm, Steam Railway, among loads more. Our toddler amd 2 dogs had a whale of a time playing in the river and walking the surrounding woods

Good remote location for walks, dog friendly, but only ten minutes from local village for essentials. Hot tub and log fire a bonus.

A lovely idyllic spot surrounded with plenty of fantastic dog walking on the doorstep. The tranquility and amenities are excellent.

This have been an amazing place to stay, very peaceful and private and a magical location for us and the dogs. The cottage was beautiful and very comfortable and cosy and had everything that could could need or want for you holiday, just a perfect place to stay!

Idyllic cottage that is beautifully appointed and equipped, with a sublime hot tub, in a wonderful location. We LOVED it there.

This is a lovely cottage in a fairytale setting which is quite special. Lots of privacy and wonderful hot tub. We stayed during a very cold spell and had to use the wood burner a lot to stay warm enough. Lots to do in the local area.

Western Torrs is a lovely cottage in great surroundings. Well equipped and Hot tub a bonus also with very comfortable beds. Our dog also enjoyed a dip in the river every day and some lovely walks in the area.

Well maintained cottage in a gorgeous tranquil setting right next to a river, lovely enclosed garden and patio area to relax in after a day out . Bit of a narrow drive down to the cottage, but no other traffic apart from dog walkers or joggers.

Spike and Sarah have a lovely cottage set in the woodland above the river . Lots of woodland walks,hot tub was very welcoming, very well equipped cottage a place we will be returning to.

A wonderful cottage in a great location which is home from home. Spike and Sarah were superb hosts and there was great attention to detail - down to a dog bed, doggie snacks, poo bags and feeding dishes! The kitchen is better equipped than our one at home. The hot tub is fantastic and we spent many hours in the evening star gazing in our little wood with the river burbling away in the background. A little peace of haven in Devon.

Stunning and secure hideaway where you can get away from it all and yet also be in the middle of everything..and you can take your dog! The cottage is tucked in a wood, surrounded by plants and trees, with a hot tub, a river running by, wild animals playing in the garden and oh so many stars in the sky (very little light pollution, on a clear night you can see them all). A very short and easy walk away is a lovely Dog friendly pub with great service and a great menu including really good vegan options.

We enjoyed every minute in this beautiful and perfect equipped cottage. The location is close to all village amenities, yet very secluded. The hot tub is the icing on the cake! Thanks a lot for sharing this lovely place!

Western Tors cottage did not disappoint, it’s in a lovely position surrounded by woodland and right next to the river which we and our dog loved. The cottage was extremely clean and very comfortable, and we would certainly recommend that it’s worth a stay if you like peace and quiet. The walks from the cottage were just lovely through the gate at the bottom of the garden. Perfect !!!! The Fox Hound pub in the next village ( Brixton ) is lovely and serves proper home made food, the staff are very friendly and the pub welcomes your furry friends too.
