Duncombe
Proudly looking down over Teignmouth and with fabulous views of the ever-changing sea and estuary, Duncombe is a very special place which is sure to be a favourite with big groups of families or friends. This glorious Victorian villa is surrounded by mature gardens and is beautifully decorated, retaining all of its original charm but it's no draughty old relic. Fully insulated, heated by renewable energy, powered by solar panels, with fast fibre WiFi, and an electric vehicle charger, Duncombe is a bang-up-to-date eco-house, and the house and garden are accessible for any members of the group with limited mobility. Big gatherings, with everything you need for relaxation and fun, have been thought of throughout. Bring your paddle boards, bicycles, wetsuits, flip flops and your walking shoes, your yoga mats and your sketchbook, and of course your laptops if you still need to work while on holiday. There's plenty of space for everything, and something for everyone in Duncombe. There's even a secret door between two rooms. How long will it take you to find it?
With secure off road parking for at least three cars, enter Duncombe through the sunny conservatory, with its spectacular geranium, into the welcoming hall. Children will be drawn one way into the sunny snug with its chillout sofa and Smart TV. Other members of the party will be drawn into the elegant sitting-room, where the whole group can relax on its comfy sofas, enjoy the views through the bay window of the garden and the sea beyond, chat around its lovely open fire, and dim the lights for big movie nights with its Smart TV. Further down the hall, you'll find the fabulous modern kitchen, fully equipped to cater for at least 12, which opens into the dining-room with its bespoke octagonal dining-table which expands from seating eight to ten and to twelve. Open the beautiful French doors from the dining-room to the garden and enjoy sunny breakfasts, relaxed lunches and fabulous dinners. Beyond the kitchen you'll enter the large games-room for rowdy fun with a vintage table-football, full-sized ping pong table, dart board and a piano, plus a huge blackboard for creative fun. Or fold away the ping pong table and bring out the yoga mats and breathe and stretch out in the space together. Out the back of the kitchen is the spacious, well-equipped utility-room, which houses all your coats and boots and buggies and has space for extra food storage. This leads onto the wet-room, perfect for hot showers and for hosing down sandy children, your wetsuits and muddy dogs. Part of the genius of the house is how the utility, wet-room and snug combine to provide a fully accessible downstairs double bedroom suite for members of your group with mobility issues (full details of the accessible facilities can be provided).
In the entrance hall, the superb original staircase leads up to the bedrooms. On the half-landing, you will find bedroom one, a lovely room that has the option of combining the twin beds into a sumptuous super-king double bed. On this floor, you will also find a beautifully finished bathroom complete with a bath, shower, wash-basin and toilet. Continue up to the main landing and you will find the rest of the bedrooms, all of which come with lavish bedding and plenty of storage space. To your left is bedroom two with a sumptuous super-king double bed which be made up as twin beds if preferred. To your right is bedroom three with a king-size bed which can be split into small single beds (two-foot six-inches, normally for children). Now you are at the front of the house, where bedroom four is the main bedroom with its fabulous en suite shower-room and Smart TV. Enjoy the panoramic views of the sea and the landmark Ness cliff from your king-size bed or from the relaxing armchairs in the window. Next along the front of the house is spacious bedroom five housing a sumptuous super-king bed which can again be made up as twin beds, and a table and chairs for working or enjoying breakfast and again the stunning view. Finally, along the front of the house, is bedroom six, a serene space where the view from your king-size bed is hypnotic. Beside this bedroom is a luxurious family bathroom with bath, shower, wash-basin and toilet, plus an additional separate toilet.

Mr Soden
Rooms finished to a very high standard. Bedrooms are all large with plenty of room. Close to town and beach with a ten minute walk into town. Great views of the sea from bedrooms. Plenty of bathrooms. All rooms had wooden or tiled floors so were easy to keep clean. In the picture the parking area looked huge. It states room for 3 cars which we did have but they only just fitted. A very narrow road and cars parked along it right up to the gate making it difficult to get in and out in an SUV type car. Not the fault of the property, just an observation if you have a large vehicle.
Mr Haddock
Excellent house, with quality kitchen appliances. Large rooms and was clean and well maintained.
Mrs Hedges
Well positioned in Teignmouth to offer peace and quiet, yet a few minutes walk to the beach and harbour. It offers plenty of space and comfort for a large party, very well equipped, and was a fantastic place for our family 60th birthday celebration. The games room is great for wet days!
Mrs Briscoe
This is a really exceptional property, beautifully maintained with every facility you could want. There were several little touches that added to the trip from info packs to flowers and a welcome basket with prosecco, chocolate biscuits and a pineapple ! Ideal for a large family or group of friends .
Mrs Galley
This was one of the best equipped houses we have rented. It was obvious that it had been and to some extent still is a much loved family home with everything there to allow it to be used as such. It lived fully up to expectations and every member of our group aged between 9 and 77 loved it. The games room was well used and much appreciated.
Mr Hutt
Duncombe is an excellent location for a multi-generational family gathering.
Mrs Hewitt
Fabulous stay at Duncombe. Could not fault our stay at all and will definitely be returning. Would highly recommend.
Mrs Young
Duncombe House is an absolutely lovely venue for multi- generational family gatherings. Ours ranged in age from 6 months to 67 years and everyone was very well catered for with stacks of space for relaxing in smaller groups as well as gathering the whole gang together. The games room was a big hit with the 12 year old twins when the grown up chat got too boring. The views are fab and the proximity to the town made everything accessible and convenient. Thank you so much to the owners who have put so much thought into make the house a great weekend venue.
Mrs Kerswill
A really well equipped house with lots of room and things to do. Easy access down to Teignmouth promenade. No complaints.
Mrs Jones
This property exceeded our expectations. It was perfect for three generations of our family. Everything you could possibly need was provided and everything was of a good standard and quality. The games room was a real bonus and everyone enjoyed competing against each other with surprising results at times. The garden was beautifully maintained and the views to Teignmouth and the sea were lovely. We hope to return one day.
Mrs Stephens
An excellent property for a multi generational group. A very well equipped house with comfortable beds and spacious interior.
Mrs Boots
Lovely property, exceptionally well equipped with everything you could need & more. Lots of space for a large family group, 4 generations & worked for us all. Beds very comfortable - mentioned by all! Close to Teignmouth, walking distance. All in all - perfect!
Mrs Bull
Ideal property for 3 generations. The grandchildren loved the house and the garden as there was plenty of space for them to let off steam. Central too for exploring different places within a short radius. Everything was there in the house for our needs.
Mrs Ryan
Comfortable large property. Great for multi generation groups with loads of space. Games room and garden enjoyed by all. Ideal location for getting out and about using a car, bus, train. Teignmouth just a short walk.
Mr Livings
Our group loved this beautifully equipped property with sea views from 3 of the bedrooms! The games room and garden were great spaces and provided hours of entertainment!
Mr Lee
Excellent well equipped and maintained property ideal for family groups. Perfectly located for South Devon attractions.
Mrs Phillips
Excellent house for a large family gathering. Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, lots of downstairs living space, a very well equipped kitchen and only few minutes walk from the centre of Teignmouth. Loved the enclosed garden, games room and the books and puzzles provided for all ages. Even the weather was brilliant!
Mr Pheasey
This property was a great place to bring the family together. We had four generations aged 2yrs to 80yrs and the property catered for everyone. A games room, a spacious living area, large dining table to eat together and a lovely big garden. The property was secure for the children to play and the location was fantastic for our beach days and stroll into teignmouth for dinner!
Mrs Price
We stayed here for a week in May/June with extended family ranging in age from 8 to nearly 80. The house was perfect for all of us. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possible need in order to cater for a large amount of people, as well as being spotlessly clean and there was ample room for all of us to sit and eat together both inside and out. The older adults enjoyed watching TV in the living room, whilst the younger members either watched films in the snug, or played Darts and Table Tennis in the games room. We used the garden lots too, either to play in or to sit and admire the beautiful flowers in the well kept beds. The bedrooms have amazing views of the sea and the beds are so comfortable, everyone slept soundly at night as the local area is quiet and peaceful. However, its only a 10 minute walk to the main town and beautiful seafront, so a lot of the time we were able to leave the car on the drive whilst were explored the local area. A very welcome basket of goodies was awaiting us upon our arrival, including the most delicious Scones! We all agreed that it was the best holiday house we'd ever stayed in and everyone wants to come back and stay again. We'd been let down by another holiday company a week before our holiday, so this house was booked right at the last minute. We feel unbelievably lucky to have found it. You won't be disappointed if you stay here, it really is perfect in every way
