Mera Ghar
Escape to a south west holiday abode of dreams, on the outskirts of the maritime city of Plymouth, with the beauty of Dartmoor on your doorstep. From style to fun, no detail has been overlooked at Mera Ghar, which means 'my home' in Hindi, and that's certainly what this abode will become to you and your family or friends whilst on holiday at this dog-friendly fabulous multi-generational celebration house!
As you drive up the private lane from the main road you will delight at the sight of the house, from the hot tub/bar area and four outside seating areas to the house itself! The excitement will continue as you discover and explore each room. Old and young will marvel at the impressive main sitting-room with its pool table and Smart TV. From here patio doors open out to an Italian-styled courtyard with ponds, fountains and a wisteria-covered eating area, and not forgetting that all-important barbecue. Being at the back of the house you will hear the road however simply turn on the outdoor sound system and let the good times flow!
Head across to the games-room, which is the perfect hang out for those younger members of the family, open the patio doors and you'll arrive at the hot tub/bar area which sits to the front of the house. Back through the front door and you will reach the kitchen/sitting-room which certainly has the wow factor with its vaulted ceilings, comfy sofas, Smart TV and fully equipped kitchen which is ready for the chef of the family to whip up a feast that can be enjoyed around the table in the separate dining-room. From the sitting-area you can push open the patio doors and step out into an enclosed patio-area with comfy seating - the perfect spot to make plans or simply enjoy the slower pace of being on holiday.
When it comes to bedrooms there will be no need to draw straws! Bedroom one can be found downstairs and benefits from a huge ground floor shower-room. Climb the stairs to discover the remaining four bedrooms, all having Smart TVs and the versatility of super-king 'zip and link' beds - twin or double, the choice is yours! Bedrooms two and three have en suite shower-rooms and share the front balcony with views of Dartmoor. Bedrooms four and five sit at the end of the landing and make the perfect option as teenagers' hang out zones - both bedrooms share the main family bathroom. Bedroom five is at the back of the house, however with the owner being a builder he has sound-proofed and designed the house with the main aspect being at the front, so noise from the nearby main road is minimal. If extra sleeping options are required, please do call as there are sofa beds in both the games-room and bedroom three.
The joy of this house has to be the outside areas, from dawn to dusk there's an area that can be enjoyed! From a party at the bar to enjoying the relaxation of the hot tub or simply gathering around the table and letting the barbecue chef grill the night away! In truth there aren't enough words to describe this house and without doubt once discovered guests will return year after year with a library of holiday memories made!

Miss Cooper
Beautiful place to stay, the owner was lovely and returned our daughter’s hat in the post as we accidentally left it. Would definitely return was a lovely holiday.
Ms Gorrod
Great property with plenty of space. Nice to have the pool table in the lounge so everyone could be together during games. Hot tub clean and warm, nice to have it under a canopy. House very clean, beds very comfortable. Bedrooms and bathrooms all of a generous size. Views out to Dartmoor lovely. Gardens enclosed and safe for dogs. Walk out the back gate and a 2 minute walk to the local pub which has a nice garden. Main road can be heard in the back garden but didn’t really notice it in the house. Would recommend and will definitely look to book this property again.
Mr Cox
No negatives, lovely property.
Mrs McCarthy
We have rented many houses, cottages, Manor House’s etc. and we found this place to be a wonderful find. Each area is spacious with its own use, allowing families to spread out and enjoy different rooms as well as come together when wanted. Although the back of the house is towards an A road, you wouldn’t know as the house is well insulated and few windows face that direction. Many of the windows face the Moors, especially from the spacious upstairs bedrooms, that offer good views of both the Moors and the stars on a clear night on the spacious balcony due to low levels of light pollution. The house is extremely clean and well considered, with a games room, large tv room and a second (smaller) living room by the kitchen with an elegant, architectural ceiling. These are great places to spend time. The kitchen is also well sized with plenty of storage. The location is perfect for visiting both Plymouth and the Moors, and the drive way up-to the house gives a sense of seclusion with space for four vehicles on the drive. As you can tell by my writing, we enjoyed ourselves here, and whilst we have never stayed at the same place twice, we would strongly consider coming back. We also found the owner to be both polite and friendly.

This is a beautiful property, with easy access to parts of Dartmoor. Pub around the corner serving great food and Tesco nearby, also walkable. Bus stop more or less outside the back gate which was easier than driving into Plymouth. Hot tub was great as was the pool table, so much space to spread out in with a group of friends.

We were group of nine more mature ladies having a weekend away as we have done for quite a few years. This property was fabulous for our requirements, we had everything we needed for a great fun filled stay. The lovely large lounge with a pool table was great, the hot tub under cover ,as it was miserable weather was lovely.... There was plenty of space and good car parking. We would not hesitate to return.
Mr Currall
Mera Ghar is a stunning property in a quirky location, providing excellent facilities for a multi-generational break. Would definitely recommend.
Mr Harwood
Although we were near the main road, it never affected us that much and the road noise was acceptable, bearing in mind it was Autumn and not much time was spent in the garden.
Mrs Vanns
The property was absolutely stunning and would highly recommend.
Mrs Parkinson
This is a lovely property. We were wanting a place for three generations to stay and it worked very well for us. It is next to the main Tavistock road, with easy access to Plymouth , the moors or Tavistock, we visited all three. The house itself is on a country lane with a long private drive, which made it feel very rural. It’s got great views towards the moors from some of the bedrooms. We found the short footpath into the village. We could walk to village pub in five minutes or the supermarket in fifteen. We had a great few days.
MR BEARD
We had a wonderful family stay at Mera Ghar in August 2024 - including two adults, three children and one small dog. It is a spacious property inside and outside where we had the opportunity to properly relax and unwind for a week. The hot tub was used daily! There is a good choice of supermarkets locally to visit and stock up on items to enjoy when back at the property. It is also close to Dartmoor, including the zoo, and Plymouth which we visited several times during our stay. The morning we left we were greeted with a bottle of fizz and a note from the owner - hoping we had enjoyed our stay - which we did and I thanked the owner. I only booked less than 2 weeks before the first day of our stay. I am grateful this property was available to book and the booking process was very straightforward.
