Grand View

We had a great week at Grand View. The view really is spectacular and the house is extremely well equipped. Everything was spotlessly clean and Nick the owner was very helpful and friendly. We’d definitely come back again. The location was also great for us with a 6 year old and an 8 year old, there was lots to do. The kids loved Pennywell Farm which is nearby.

As a family we all enjoyed our stay at Grand View. The house was just lovely with everything included you could think of to make your stay pleasurable. The views were absolutely beautiful and the walk around the adjacent meadow was great for an evening stroll. Nick the host greeted us the first night we were there and told us to call if there were any problems at all. I would recommend staying at Grand View to friends and family without hesitation.

Nick, the owner, came to welcome us in, and gave us helpful local information, and a voucher to buy goodies at the local garden centre/farm shop which was a kind gesture. The house was fantastic, the living area was so well arranged, we all had a great family get-together, and space enough for us all. The views across the hills towards the moor were incredible, and changed by the minute. A superb cottage. The location was a slight let down as there is no walkable pub or shop, but that was made clear in the description. The 2 local pubs were a short drive away and were both very friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed staying at this outstanding property. The field adjoining the house was wonderful for the dog, too!

Grand View provided a very comfortable home for our family 'get-together of 6 with our 2 dogs. The outside areas were perfect for evening drinks overlooking the outstanding views. Plenty of open-plan indoor space too, and we found having 2 good size ground floor en-suite bedrooms, in addition to the large en -suite one on the first floor, most convenient. Lots of helpful information and suggestions provided by Nick the owner. Everything was perfect fo a fantastic week and we would love to return.

We had an amazing holiday at Grand View which is a beautiful spacious property with the most amazing views. We were lucky to have the best week of weather, eating outside every day. The dogs loved the space to run and it was a perfect week thankyou.

Grand View lives up to its name. What a spectacular property, with quality furnishings, with the most outstanding views , in an area of tranquil beauty. Would highly recommend this home away from home for a family or a few guests who appreciate the quiet serenity of the countryside.

We had an excellent stay at Grand View. The house was delightful with stunning views across to Dartmoor. The owners, were kind and helpful with nothing being too much trouble for them.

The property was outstanding, comfortable beds, very well equipped kitchen, attentive owners ensuring hot water and heating were all going ok in the cold winter, it was a home from home , super well located with amazing views that pleased no matter the weather. Cant recommend highly enough

Very much enjoyed our stay at Grand View. Lovely property with great views. The only slight downside is the approach road behind the property. Very narrow country road which does require extreme caution when driving to and from newton abbott, so much so we did seek out an alternative route to and from the property. Despite this, surprisingly, the road is very busy all day and well into the night which does upset the apparent tranquility of grand view’s location. Much appreciated the garden centre voucher left by the owners, but I would say some basic provisions like milk etc. on arrival would have been preferred. Overall a very enjoyable relaxing week.

This is a superb property in a magnificient location. The accommodation is first class and lacks for nothing. There are numerous attractions within travelling distance and major towns such as Plymouth and Exeter are easily reached. There are a number of good traditional pubs in the area and an excellent fish and chip shop called Jacksons in Newton Abbot A good day out is a trip on the Dart Railway from Paignton to Kingsmear, ferry across the Dart to Dartmouth, a river trip on the Dart and return home by steam train. Thank you Nick and Nicola for providing an excellent base for a memorable holiday.

A fantastic week in this gorgeous cottage. Fabulous views, including of Haytor. Every evening spent watching the sunset. We didn't want to leave. Quiz the labrador loved the field.

My partner and I visited Grand View in March 2022, and what a place it is! It really is something special - the moment you walk in you are greeted by one of the most amazing views out of the bi-fold doors. We had great weather and opened the bi-fold doors throughout the day to frame the view of the countryside. Grand View is a complete retreat with the distant noises of the horses and sheep in the surrounding fields. At night time we were falling asleep to the gentle sounds of a barn owl close by which was lovely. The whole house was IMMACULATELY clean, beyond belief - I can't reiterate enough how clean this house was! Grand View had everything we could possibly need, from utensils in the kitchen to the ironing board, even a picnic basket with Champagne glasses ready to take out on a picnic. The master bedroom suite upstairs is stunning with such a beautiful bathroom with a gorgeous deep bath - the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring before settling down by the log stove which has plenty of logs provided for us. It goes without saying the view from the master bedroom is incredible! The house is in a great location for exploring; during our stay we managed to visit Castle Drogo, Bovey Castle, Salcombe, Noss Mayo, Dartmouth, Brixham, Torquay, Paignton and Teignmouth (oh and also the obligatory trip to Trago Mills when down in the South West). There is a big field attached to the house that's great for walking the dog around. Just down the road from the house is a dairy farm which has a milk station for you to fill up bottles with fresh milk and also make milkshakes, a great little touch just two minutes drive down the road. Upon arrival Nick popped in to greet us and show us how to work the biomass boiler which required topping up with wood pellets each day for hot water and heating in the house, he gave us tips on things to do locally and was really welcoming. After Nick had left we realised there was a voucher to the value of £15 for a local garden centre as usually they leave you a cream tea but due to the pandemic this wasn't possible - what a lovely, welcoming gesture. We can't wait to stay here again! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful house with us.

This is one spectacular house with a spectacular view to match, and the photos really don't do it justice. It's stylish and comfortable, thanks to the great owners who are extremely welcoming and have thought about everything. We very much enjoyed our stay there and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Wonderful property for a relaxing stay in Devon, view overlooking Dartmoor's haytor and very near the sea. Pretty much perfect.

Grand view cottage lives up to it's name. We had grandparents, parents and a grandchild stay there and the whole accommodation including the grounds was perfect. Location for beach combing was good with travel generally within about 30 minutes. Not just beach but also Dartmoor so the best of both worlds. We tried several pubs for dinner, all acceptable but would more than recommend the Italian restaurant in NA.

The property was fabulous and had everything you could wish for in the way of equipment. The bedding was lovely White Company . The upstairs bedroom suite was especially superb, the most comfortable mattress ever! Nick the owner was great, helpful and friendly. The views from the property were delightful and with all the land it was so peaceful.

Grand View was the perfect house for our Christmas 2021 get together, Nick and Nicola our hosts were on hand to help us settle in. We were able to entertain the wider family with ease, as the house is well equipped and very comfortable, plenty of outdoor space and spectacular views across Dartmoor, with Newton Abbot only 5 mins down the road. We bought our meat and fresh milk from a local farm. We would definately book with Classic Cottages again and hope to return to Grand View.

Nic is a fabulous host recommending places and things to do and see. The property is very convenient to the shops ECT of Newton abbot but it feels like your in the middle of nowhere. The is house is high end cleaned to a very high standard. Our family really enjoyed our time. Many thanks nic

We had a wonderful restful stay over Christmas week. The house was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated for Christmas. The house itself was beautiful, the decor, the furnishings, and the open plan really worked for a social family occasion. The views were stunning! The kitchen had everything you could possibly wish for to make a Christmas dinner including nice serving bowls etc. The only negative and it really is the only one...is there is no gate to the front of the property/drive which means it is not safe to let dogs or young children out of the house without supervision. The house, although rural is next to quite a busy country lane. We had the best Christmas break away and will definitely be returning to Grande view again very soon.

Grand View is in a perfect location. It is a spacious comfortable well equipped house perfect for families. The owners have thought of everything and are so kind and helpful. This was our second visit and sure it won't be our last.

Grand View is beautiful and very special. We enjoyed our stay and even in the rain it was great as we could sit in comfort, watch the views (and drink wine!)

Truly stunning, comfortable, luxurious, well designed and beautiful home, friendly owners, and local welcome. The view is gorgeous. Location is perfect for exploring the area, which has terrific local food, restaurants and pubs. We had a nigh on perfect break here.

Grand View is a great place to stay, a few minutes drive from Newton Abbot, a lovely market town. We had 2 dogs who enjoyed having supervised outdoor time in the large grassy area at the rear of the house and it only took about 5 minutes to drive down to Bakers Park and into Bradley Manor meadow and woodland for some great dog walks. We would love to come again in the future!

Our stay at Grand View was a very welcome break and we thoroughly enjoyed our week. The house was very comfortable and for a holiday, the open plan design worked really well. The kitchen was a joy to cook in! Wonderful setting and views and perfect location for exploring this part of Devon.

Warm welcome by the owner - Nick- with a lovely Victoria Sponge cake and a bottle of bubbly. The house has a wonderful countryside/mountain view from the kitchen/ dining area and the sitting room. The first floor bedroom has a balcony and view of the countryside. All three en-suite bedrooms are beautifully furnished . The house is fully equipped and has everything you need . We were lucky with the weather and had been eating and drinking and soaking up the scenery outside most of the time. The house is easily accessed to local pubs with good food. Is within easy drive to Newton Abbott for train station and main shopping. It is only a short easy drive to the beaches, Dartmoor National Park and the Round Robin Tour of train, boat and bus from Paignton to Totnes to Dartmouth. A very good day trip. So many places to see and all are within easy drive from the house. Grand View is an exceptionally beautifully decorated house with all the necessary. Our holidays started straight away the minute we saw the view of the surrounding countryside from the house. We hope to be back. A beautiful property with amazing views and lovely comfortable modern interior. We travelled from the USA and it was a perfect place for our family Christmas and to meet with extended family in Devon. We really appreciated the tasteful decorations and the crib service at the local church on Christmas was a highlight! A brilliant stay and Nick was an attentive and considerate host.

A wonderful stay at grand view , it certainly has the most amazing views . lovely well designed house , with a lovely large garden , ideal if you've bought your dog along with you, like we did. The house is in a great location with lots of attractions ,just a short drive away. The man town of newton abbott is also a short 5/10 minute drive. the house has the best of both worlds.

Warm property,no need to notch up heating.Comfortable open plan ground floor which worked extremely well with mixed ages.Very friendly owner with plenty of smiles and useful advice about area and house.WONDERFUL CAKE AND SPARKLING WINE,such a welcoming.The Lilies lasted all week and the smell permeated throughout the house.

Grand View is a really gorgeous property with the most beautiful views. It was very clean and beautifully furnished. The owners are also very nice and helpful. We had an amazing week and there was lots to do nearby with 2 small children (2 and 5 years old). We highly recommend it and would go back in a heartbeat.

This is a beautiful house in a fabulous location. It has everything you could wish for and lives up to its name. We could have stayed there all week just looking at the view, the birds and the sheep in the meadow. There is plenty to do nearby. We particularly enjoyed Sharpham Vineyard for a lovely lunch with wine and cheese tasting and Greenway. The shops in Newton Abbott are only ten minutes drive away. Sheila on the farm opposite sells delicious eggs. We didn't want to leave and hope to return.

You can't fail to have a wonderful holiday at this property even if you never go out!. Beautifully designed and with modern decorative touches it was ideal for the 3 generations of our family. The owners live not far away and were very helpful.

Beautiful, very comfortable, well equipped house in a really convenient location. The family all enjoyed the open plan living space and outstanding views. Kids (aged 4&6) had a wonderful time in the garden. Worth noting at the time there was no gate stopping access onto the road - not a problem for us, but something you might want to double check if you had kids a bit younger. We had a great holiday and would definitely come back.

This was a perfect house in a stunning setting. Cost more than other cottages we have stayed in but worth every penny. Staying in was as nice as going out.

An absolutely amazing property which truly lives up to its name of Grand View. We really enjoyed a week stay here with our 9 month old twins. Such a practical yet luxury house. We didn't want to leave!

It's just amazing! We stayed in the cottage over Easter and the weather was sunny, if a little chilly, but the cottage remained warm and inviting - and the sunsets were beautiful. The cottage itself is stunning - extremely comfortable and caters for everything we needed - providing a very spacious and relaxing week that we didn't want to end.

We had a fantastic week at Grand View. The house is modern and luxurious with stunning views, and the spacious open plan downstairs was perfect and practical for the children. It felt peaceful and 'away from it all' but in fact there are lots of places within a short drive for days out, including beaches, Dartmoor walks and towns, farm shops, local brewery and castles / farms / adventure parks. In the house everything had been thought of and the owners were friendly and helpful and left us a delicious cream tea and welcome bottle of fizz.
