Laurel Cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laurel Cottage. It is very comfortable and well equipped with thoughtful touches like flowers in the sitting room, home made snacks on arrival, plus doggy treats and a special towel for those inevitable wet walkies. We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and can honestly say this is one of the very best.

Absolutely splendid stay; perfect location, perfect cottage, super owners. Just what we wanted!

Laurel Cottage is excellent. Very comfortable. Well equipped. Our dogs loved the safe enclosed garden. Also, the paddocks were brilliant for extra doggy exercise! The wonderful hosts were excellent communicators. Emailing us prior to our visit with information. Provided tasty welcome snacks! Put all of our shopping away for us.

Directions sent by the lovely hosts Alan and Suzannah were invaluable as many lanes extremely challenging. Secure garden for dogs and plenty of exercise space for them too. Peaceful surroundings yet near beaches . Didn’t want to leave

This is a lovely peaceful cottage. Lots of space outside for our dog to run around safely. Alan & Suzannah are great hosts, very welcoming lots of useful tips for getting around and the cakes were lovely. We had a lovely week despit the weather but still managed to get out and walk nearly 40 miles of the coastal path.

A lovely warm welcome from the owners. Cosy cottage with everything you need. Location is wonderful, close to the best in the South Hams. The garden is a delight to sit out in and just listen to the birds. A brilliant place if you have a dog.

A lovely cottage in a quiet location, providing everything we needed for a great holiday. An excellent base to explore the South Hams area with lots to see and do there. Superb scenery and beaches, particularly along the South West Coast Path. Some of the roads were on the narrow side, so be aware of this when planning to go anywhere and also useful to know about the tide times when visiting any of the beaches. The cottage owners, Suzannah and Alan were very friendly and welcoming and happy to help if needed.

A lovely cottage in a quiet location with superb accomodation and facilities. The hosts could not have been more welcoming or helpful. A great place for a holiday in a beautiful part of the country.

Laurel Cottage was absolutely delightful and in a great location. Suzannah & Alan were anxious to make sure that we had everything we needed including detailed instructions on how to get there (Google seems intent on taking you down the "lane from hell"), and a yummy welcome platter, but were never intrusive. The cottage was very comfortable - loved the huge bed, with a lovely garden to sit out in. The area is beautiful with great walks both locally and further afield. Would highly recommend a stay here!

A beautiful and comfortable cottage, we loved our stay. Good location - nice and quiet but within walking distance of beach and village centre. The owners have given time and thought to make the cottage a great stay for their guests, also are very welcoming and helpful. Although they live next door, the cottage has its own access, drive and garden. The welcome treats left for us were delicious, nice to have a choice too. Even our dog had his own treats. We’d recommend and would definitely return if we visit the area again.

We loved pour stay at Laurel Cottage with our 1 year old. It’s kid friendly from the stair gates to the little bed in our room. Alan and Suzannah are incredibly thoughtful hosts and had thought of everything, providing a lovely cake for us, directions to the property and an umbrella for the rain. Such a wonderful holiday - we will be back!

Laurel Cottage was a delightful and very comfortable property with lovely features. Situated in an excellent location in the South Hams, it affords ample opportunity to visit many local attractions, and the coastal path by nearby Wonwell beach is both convenient as well as beautiful. You can also go for a paddle or swim (when the tide is in). The friendly owners are on hand to help if needed, but are in no way intrusive. There are many good pubs and restaurants within about a twenty minute drive. Many of the roads are very narrow, but with passing places, so just take care. Overall a fabulous week.

Alan & Suzannah were absolutely superb hosts from start to finish - lovely treats on our arrival, preceded by a text from Suzannah asking for a couple of our personal preferences. And the most stupendously detailed route instructions it's ever been my pleasure to receive, from Suzannah! (HINT- take note of them - you WILL need them! :).......) ! We were met on arrival for a quick chat and advised if we needed anything to please let them know as the week went on - which was very reassuring. And although it as an adjoining cottage we only ever bumped into eachother by chance- but it is nice to know help is literally a minute away if required. The cottage itself is lovely and cosy - with as good an array of guest kitchen and household utensils/products as we've ever had. The two upstairs bedrooms were very good and the bathroom upstairs particularly worthy of note . All in all, I don't think we could fault the cottage at all. We'd heartily recommend Laurel Cottage to both couples and families - it's in an excellent location to get to all of the beaches in South Devon (we were pleasantly surprised just how close many of them were) and it's a very pleasant part of the world. And for dogs too - our dog had a lovely time in the garden and the surrounding area. The only possible thing to consider is that if you don't drive, you may find yourself a little out of the way - but I'm sure people in that situation would already have taken that into account. One other thing - the road network in South Devon is.... challenging. Once you get off the A379 & A381..... they become small and narrow. In places VERY narrow. So build in lots of time for journeys as you will, almost certainly, be stopping to let others pass etc. All in all, Alan & Suzannah were superb hosts with a lovely cottage in a fine location - what more could you possibly ask for? Enjoy!

Laurel Cottage was simply the loveliest cottage we have stayed. Our rescue dog Meg, was made to feel so welcome as were we. Owners are just lovely and couldn't recommend more. Location is ideal and so peaceful with a garden full of wonderful natural treasures to discover. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

In all our years of using Classic cottages I don’t think we have ever rated a property so highly, this one lived up to our expectations and more, we could not find fault and would certainly look to book again without hesitation. Alan & Suzannah are the perfect hosts and certainly went over and above during our stay.

The cottage was like a home from home with everything needed for our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the towels and sheets of very good quality. Alan and Suzannah were extremely pleasant and helpful and excellent hosts. It is very quiet and peaceful there but was very central for visiting all the places we wanted to visit during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Laurel Cottage is a truly lovely place to stay. Very clean and comfortable, with welcoming hosts and lots of thoughtful extras, such as local maps and walking guides and books on the local history. Kingston village is a pretty, friendly place and there are lots of lovely walks to do straight from the cottage.

A very well appointed and characterful cottage. Set in a great location for exploring both the SW Coastal Path and Dartmoor.

Laurel Cottage is very comfortable, well decorated, very clean. Some lovely additional touches such as home made savoury nibbles, dog treats, fresh flowers. Suzannah and Alan were very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful fully enclosed garden and paddocks for our dog Evie to play safely in. We visited Bigbury on sea, Burgh Island, Kingsbridge and Plymouth as well as the close by Wonwell Beach. Very peaceful location just be aware that as with a lot of Devon roads there are some extremely narrow roads to get around.

Very well presented cottage with lovely owners who made us feel very welcome (and lovely fig cakes on arrival). Very quiet location with good walks from the cottage and close to the beach.

Very welcoming hosts for this beautiful cottage tucked away in Kingston. We stayed with our baby and 4 yr old and had a lovely week away. Picturesque local beach only 20 min walk away and equipment in the house of a highchair and stair gates were very useful

We have just returned home from a wonderful week enjoying Laurel Cottage and attractions nearby. We had everything we needed and it was an incredibly comfortable stay. As a young family with a baby and dog, we liked that there was plenty of space in the garden to relax if a break from driving was needed. Thank you for the hospitality received from the hosts - it certainly is a peaceful spot to enjoy South Devon from.

A perfect time at Laurel Cottage. It’s beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Exceptionally well equipped with extra touches such as fresh flowers and lovely nibbles on arrival. It is in walking distance to a really beautiful beach. There was plenty of information on things to do and how to get there, together with an excellent supply of novels, recent magazines and games for families to play.

We had a lovely 3 night holiday at Laura cottage. Suzannah and Alan were helpful and very friendly hosts.The cottage is super clean and very comfortable. Everything has been thought of and is done beautifully even with fresh flowers and a lovely home baked cake and milk on arrival.Even our dog Bali had treats and there is a lovely garden and field to roam safely in which he loved.The location is not far from many pretty places Bantham beach, Bigbury-on-Sea, Salcombe and Noss Mayo. Would love to come back again.

This was our second stay at Laurel Cottage as we had such a fabulous time last year. The cottage is tucked away with plenty of privacy and space for the children and dog to run. It's spacious and clean and incredibly comfortable. Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth are all beautiful places close by to visit for a day trip. Gorgeous holiday cottage and location.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. It was well equipped, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Our hosts, Suzannah and Alan were so helpful, directing us to the best places, and making sure we had everything we needed. The little extras like the lovely gluten free cake, milk, tea and coffee on arrival, were very much appreciated. The cottage is located in a beautiful area, with fantastic beaches virtually on the doorstep, the countryside is lovely and the coastal walks are magnificent. We intend to return to Laurel Cottage and thank you to Alan and Suzannah for our lovely stay.

Laurel Cottage is delightful; set in a peaceful secluded location with a myriad of visiting wildlife within the grounds, the house is comfortable and well equipped. Alan and Suzannah are very hospitable and friendly and provided some thoughtful touches to make visitors feel welcome. There are two terraces and a good enclosed garden at the property, ideal if you have children or a dog. It is well located for exploring several villages, towns and beaches within a 20 mile radius. Our particular favourites were Salcome (although parking can be difficult) and Bigbury on Sea - the gateway to Burgh Island. We visited on a short break and despite the mixed weather we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Laurel Cottage.

Excellent hosts so helpful

The garden and area just what was needed after such a difficult year. The quietness and beautiful hedgerows made for a delightful stay. A very well equipped cottage with quality appliances and very comfortable beds. Bed linen and towels were excellent and the cottage was very clean.

Beautiful, well furnished and equiped quaint cottage, in a quiet location. The back garden was perfect for our dog as it was completely fenced off and there are extensive paddocks beyond it. Our hosts couldn't have been kinder or more helpful to us.

Suzzanah and Alan were really welcoming and helpful regarding local information - nice to have them next door even though the cottage felt very private and peaceful. The cottage was immaculately furnished and surrounding countryside and coast were beautiful.

Suzanne and Alan were genuinely warm and welcoming hosts at a (Covid) time when warmth and welcome would be easy to avoid. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the little touches in the cottage (e.g. welcome taps, temperature scanner, fresh flowers twice weekly, local advice and genuine concern for our safety) all made the ordinary - extraordinary. I'd have no hesitation in recommending the cottage and the area to anyone looking for a comfortable, quite getaway cottage for walks and relaxation.

A beautiful, quiet, modern cottage tucked away in the magical lanes of south Devon. We were lucky with the weather but we could have been in the south of France! We want to visit again!

Laurel Cottage is perfect in everyway. The decor and the furniture are of a very high standard . Everything has been thought of for a comfortable stay. The outside space is excellent. The location is very good and it’s proximity to Wonwell Beach for our labrador was just great. We couldn’t fault the cottage in any way - it was a real home from home.

The Alpacas were lovely and well worth seeing. Accommodation was superb and very clean and comfortable. Beautiful spot to be in. Hope to return soon.

All the equipment was of a high standard and the beds were excellent quality. There were many instances of thoughtful additions to make the cottage homely. The secure garden for the dog was very useful. The cottage was in a quiet location. We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend the cottage without reservation.

Laurel cottage is immaculate, well furnished and comfortable with lots of lovely touches. The outdoor seating areas are sheltered, the grounds are pretty and relaxing. There are not a lot of formal attractions nearby, but as a location to just stop and take out your batteries, it is excellent. The cottage felt very private, and we would definitely consider a return visit.

This is a lovely barn conversion within easy reach of great beaches, which were ideal for children and a dog! A great place to relax and spend time as a family!

We have just spent a very happy week in Laurel Cottage, South Devon. In spite of some inclement weather out little dog Rosie enjoyed her very first holiday with us. The cottage was absolutely first class with a dog-proof garden. We could not have asked for more as the local pubs all served delicious meals.

We have really enjoyed our holiday at Laurel Cottage! The cottage is brand new and lovely decorated, situated in a very peaceful place surrounded by fields with horses and cows. It is perfect for family with kids and the local beach is just amazing. We loved it and are hoping to come back again in the future!
