Reviews

What a handsome house this is, Toadstools is a fine example of classic Georgian architecture. From the pretty double fronted facade with ornate metal canopy over the sage green painted front door, to the well-proportioned rooms and abundance of original charm and character. To one side of the entrance hall step into the lovely sitting-room, complete with inglenook fireplace, comfy sofa and armchairs, beamed ceiling and sash windows, a lovely room to relax with the ones you love. Fire up the wood-burner as the night draws in or on a fresh winter's day and get cosy with a good book or great conversation.

Head across the hall into the kitchen/dining-room to make a cuppa or cook up a holiday meal, this social space has room for cooks and their helpers, so grab a chopping board and get those vegetables prepared. Shop local at the Veryan village store or Pendower Farm shop, for fresh fish, wine, cheese, hot pasties, artisan bread and locally grown organic fruit and vegetables. And for those guests who prefer to let someone else do the cooking and washing up, choose from The New Inn, the highly rated traditional local pub serving home-cooked food and a friendly welcome. In warmer weather head outside to the pretty garden to enjoy breakfast or lunch on the patio, the owners have created a peaceful space with a Mediterranean feel from the olive and fruit trees to the shady corner, a perfect retreat when the sun gets too much.

When the eyelids get heavy climb the typically steep stairs to one of two comfortable bedrooms in the main house; bedroom one, with super-king double bed, enjoys views over both the garden area and the front entrance and pretty bedroom two with twin beds is to the right-hand side of the bathroom. To access bedroom three, head out through the kitchen door and across the patio to the annexe, a totally private space with a comfy double bed and your very own en suite shower-room, perfect for guests wanting a little quiet space and time.

Mr Hose

If I could imagine the perfect Cornish holiday cottage this would be it, an old stone house with lots of character in a lovely quiet location, very well equipped and furnished which gives a homely and comfortable feel, nice enclosed and private garden with outdoor seating and table, everything you need for an enjoyable holiday.

Mrs Sprackman

Lovely cottage, definitely felt like home and not a holiday house. Ideal for family with grandparents has separate annexe which is very comfortable. Lovely sunny garden. Would definitely recommend.

Mrs Hutchinson

Very warm and cosy. Extremely well equipped cottage, especially in kitchen

Mrs Smart

A homely cottage in a very quiet location, ideal for exploring the local area. The pretty garden was completely enclosed which was ideal for the dog and relaxing for us. Having the separate utility outhouse is very useful especially if you’re unlucky to have bad weather and need somewhere to store wet clothing/ boots etc.

Mr Gilroy

Toadstools is a beautiful, cosy, well equipped cottage in a pretty little hamlet with good access to the stunning Roseland Peninsula.

Mrs O'Connell

Well furnished cottage in a beautiful area of Cornwall. Separate annex very useful for family groups.
