Cute as a button, Shell Cottage is a delightful stone-built cottage situated in the pretty Cornish village of Grampound. Beautifully and sympathetically restored, the end of terrace cottage has a lovely outside space for al fresco dining and a light and airy kitchen decorated in relaxing muted tones. The sitting-room has two comfy sofas and a lovely window seat where you can sit with a mug of tea and gaze out onto the pretty terrace. On the first floor, both bedrooms are prettily furnished in soft white shades and luxury bedding. Bedroom one has a super-comfy double bed and bedroom two has twin beds that can be made up as a super-king making this cottage ideal for either a family group or friends. The shower-room sits in-between the two.

Just 100 yards away from Shell Cottage, Ham Field is a community area donated to the village with a barbecue area, wild-flower meadow and pond. You are welcome to explore the area which is just down the road.

Shell Cottage dates back to the early 18th Century and formed part of the Old Queens Head Inn which for many years was the main coaching inn for stagecoaches travelling between Torpoint and Falmouth. The cottage is situated near the main road however, as with all traditionally built cottages, the walls are super thick making summertime blissfully cool inside and nicely insulated against the cold in winter. Shell Cottage is an ideal place for a short break or weeklong stay at any time of year.

Mr Ward

What an absolute gem! We had booked a different place to stay, which was unavoidably unavailable at the last minute so we were offered Shell Cottage and were delighted with the outcome. The location is excellent - about 10 mins from the A30 and perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and so cosy. We did a lot of driving around [Eden project, National trust and Cornwall in general] and it was the perfect place to come home to and unwind. Infact the most complicated thing about the week was working out which thing went into which bin for recycling - but there was a very detailed handbook to guide us through that. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Mr Cousins

Warm, character cottage in a central location, clean with good facilities, easy access to Truro, Heligan, Eden Project etc. Be aware the busy A390 runs through Grampound and the cottage is close to this.

Mrs Styles

Shell Cottage is a beautiful traditional Cornish Cottage situated in a lovely village of which both are full of history. It is larger then it first looks and centrally located making it ideal for exploring a number of areas of Cornwall both North and South. We chose it partly for this reason and travelled to Falmouth & St Michaels Mount easily alongside exploring the local areas including Charlestown and Mevagissey harbour. We would recommend and definitely return in the future.

Miss Gregory

We’ve just returned from a week’s holiday in Cornwall and our stay at Shell cottage. We were extremely happy with our choice of cottage, Shell cottage was the perfect home from home. Hosts were friendly and on hand should you need anything during our stay. Cottage provides everything you will need during your stay and tastefully decorated throughout. Shell cottage is a great base for exploring what Cornwall has to offer, with most eastern Cornwall villages within a 20 minute journey. Perfect for us traveling with a small baby.

Mrs Taylor

Loved our week at Shell Cottage with older parents. It felt quite spacious & two toilets upstairs was a bonus! The seniors loved the walk in shower, and the bus stop being a minute away so they could adventure independently. The kitchen had everything we needed & downstairs worked well for meals & cosy evenings. The outside space to the front was very pleasant for morning coffee. The beds were super comfy & it's so quiet that everyone slept well. We parked outside the house all week no problems. Out & about there's so much to see, St Mawes is gorgeous & the nearby coastal walks are spectacular (park for free at Rocky Lane), we loved Trelissick (National Trust), Charlestown & Gorran Haven beach. The circular dog walk from the cottage was perfect for morning or evenings.

Mr Herrmann

It's a lovely holiday cottage: comfortable, inviting, clean and very well equipped. Grampound is a great location to explore Cornwall in all directions but also with a lot of sightseeing attractions nearby. Even beaches at the atlantic coast are reachable in good time. Parking outside next to the front door is no problem. We enjoyed our stay there much.

Mrs Stirrup

Shell cottage is well equipped and extremely comfortable in a lovely part of the world

Mr Hughes

lovely period cottage well suited for 2-3 people.

Mr Timerick

This cottage was very comfortable, quaint and spacious for our needs and we would definitely stay again when we came down in the future. Even though there was no allocated parking we found no difficulty in parking outside the cottage. The locals were very friendly and the nearby cafe and shop was very useful.

Mr Gardner

Larger than you think and very well equipped, this cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Roseland and escaping to other parts of Cornwall. A very comfortable stay for our family of four and a dog!

Mrs Savin

A beautiful cottage ,furnished to a high standard and very spacious. The welcome from the owners was a nice touch . A great location for exploring both North and South Coasts and West Cornwall. Just off the main road but very quiet with no traffic noise. A lovely place to stay and hopefully we will return . Had a great holiday .

Mrs Watkins

We really enjoyed our week at Shell Cottage. Very comfy and cozy little place. Peaceful surroundings in a lovely little village with pretty walks close by. Loved the village shop and can highly recommend the Dolphin Inn for great food just a few minutes walk away. Short drive to Charlestown - highly recommend visit to the Shipwreck museum - and Mevagissey. We’d love to come and stay again some day.

Mrs Gordon-Alleyne

A lovely place to stay, spotless, very comfortable and well equipped. Great location too.

Mr White

Great holiday - weather was excellent so that always helps. The cottage was everything expected from the description and then more. There were three of us staying, me, my wife and our daughter (30). We had the two single beds made up as a double and the bed was extremely comfortable. There is a spare room upstairs which was convenient for all our excess belongings. There are two toilets, and the shower was fantastic and convenient to use. Downstairs the layout is good, the front room lovely to relax in, and the kitchen is very well equipped. The cottage is in a good location for the village and touring the Roseland peninsular. Would recommend the Kings Arms in Tregony, the Pierhouse in Charlestown, St. Mawes, St. Just-in-Roseland church, and the circular walk from Fowey to Gribbin Head with a stop off for a swim at Polridmouth Cove.

Mrs Bond

An attractive cottage in an excellent central location providing all home comforts for a relaxing holiday.

Ms Johnson

Really spacious cottage, lovingly restored by its owners. Well equipped, very clean and comfortable. Perfect base for exploring Cornwall.

Mrs Johnson

Lovely cottage, extremely comfortable and great location for coast and surrounding areas. Parking was always easy for us on the quiet road outside the front of the cottage. All facilities good, dog friendly but be aware there is no washing machine which is important for dog owners particularly if the weather isn’t great.

Mrs Kavanagh

Shell Cottage is the perfect location for visiting all of Cornwall. Parking outside the property is never a problem. Immaculately clean, welcoming and comfortable. The perfect home from home.

Mrs King

Pretty cottage in a good location for visiting lots of beautiful areas in Cornwall.
