Reviews

A charming and tranquil creekside cottage making the perfect escape, allowing one to wind down and appreciate the simpler things in life. Days can be enjoyed at a slower pace, in a quintessentially Cornish cob cottage, full of charm and character with many original features such as cosy low beams and sloping floors making it a little quirky and a great holiday destination. Bridge Cottage can boast having been featured as one of the properties for the Best Holiday Destinations for 2025 in The Sunday Times.

Stepping through the front porch you are greeted by the cosy and warm kitchen/diner with views out over the cottage garden with a warming electric Aga which is the real heart of this home. The farmhouse-style kitchen has everything you might need for a get together, including of course the all-important wine fridge and a coffee pod machine which is essential. There is also a gas cooker in the utility-room should you not be sure how to use an Aga. The large family dining-table has a pew from the old local chapel and take your time to look around for other old items from the chapel along with a collection of items from old ships too.

There are two cosy sitting-rooms at Bridge Cottage both with woodburners, boasting room for everyone. Leading off the kitchen/diner is the snug which has a warming wood-burner and a sound system so you can enjoy relaxing here, catching up on the day's events in comfort. Leading off this room is the second sitting-room with a large corner sofa, a Smart TV and DVD player so you can snuggle up together and enjoy choosing a good film or perhaps enjoy a board game too.

Up the stairs (please take care as there isn't a banister on one side) ducking under the ceiling, you will find four lovely bedrooms and the family bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have large king-size beds and are decorated in calming tones for a good night's sleep. The third bedroom has a 'zip and link' bed to ensure flexibility for your party, which is useful for larger groups, and the final bedroom has a single bed. The family bathroom has a good-sized shower and a luxurious free-standing bath, perfect for soaking those weary limbs after a day exploring. All you will hear is a hoot from an owl in the trees and wake up ready for an amble by the stunning creek, just moments from the door

On the ground floor there is a great utility space with the extra cooker along with a washer/drier, and this room leads to the ground floor shower-room. Please take care with the steps in these rooms.

There is so much outside space at Bridge Cottage, at the front there is a sweet cottage garden with a Cornish slate patio, this space catches the morning sun and is ideal for pottering out in your slippers with that first coffee of the day. At the back of the cottage the outside space is lovely and private with a large slate table and a charcoal barbecue making this a great spot to retreat to. There is also room if you want to hire a hot tub for your stay which always adds a bit of fun (contact the office for more information).

Mrs Bush

A fabulous location, a very well equipped kitchen with comfy beds and excellent showers. The walk from the front door along the Estuary is stunning and is really very special.
