Reviews

Nestled in its own garden within the Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, this is a charming retreat. The park has 865 acres of woods, fields and coastline – your dog will be in heaven!

Originally part of staff accommodation provided by the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, Cremyll Lodge is a comfortable and attractive cottage. There are views across Plymouth Sound from the sitting/dining-room, a kitchen, shower-room and an exceptionally pretty bedroom found up the steep stairs. A private entrance leads to the enclosed patio ensuring privacy from the shop next door and the children’s play-area. The Rame Peninsula, known to locals as ‘the forgotten corner of Cornwall’, is a truly glorious part of the world.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Ms Ford

Wonderful retreat. Plenty to do in the park or catch the ferry to Plymouth. Didn't need the car once. Great the pub is open again

Mrs Cope

Quirky cottage in great location. Very clean and comfortable. As we have bus passes we tried to bus to Plymouth (1 ½ hours) Spectacular scenery! After time in Plymouth we caught the Cremyll Ferry back (15min!) Only had 4 nights, hope to go back for a whole week.

Mrs Tibbert

Excellent cottage for a quiet getaway for one or two people . Warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. Endless walks in the beautiful grounds of Edgecombe Country Park. Quick trip over to Plymouth only 10 minutes on foot ferry. Also handy bus service for those who do not wish to drive. All in all, a very nice holiday cottage. Please keep it going !! A. Tibbert.

Mr Elwell

A lovely cottage and really convenient for us when attending our son's wedding at Mount Edgcumbe. Guests need to be aware that every room is at a different level with two or more steps between them

Mrs Jones

We've stayed at Cremyll Lodge twice now and it feels almost like a home from home. We love the glorious views over the Tamar estuary and the peace of the magnificent park ... yet it's so close to the bustling William Yard just a ferry ride across the water.

Mr Lamb

This cottage is in an amazing location with views across the estuary where there is always something of interest. Yet it is sublimely peaceful with its own private sunny courtyard. With ferry and bus service 'on the doorstep' and great food served on the Mt Edgcumbe site, it has all the facilities you will need.

Mr Bradwell

Lovely simple cottage, great location lovely views over the waterfront, clean and comfortable we love it here.

Miss Rood

My sister and I stayed one night before my wedding - it was a great location as my family stayed in the Edgecumbe arms and then my husband and I got married at Mount Edgecumbe house. My husband and I then stayed for 2 more nights. The lodge was comfortable and clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Ms Ford

Lovely location and very comfortable cottage. A great "get away from it all" place to stay

Miss Reynolds

Our stay at Cremyll Lodge was ideal for attending an event at Mount Edgecumbe with a toddler. The cottage had everything we needed.

Mrs Foreman

?? perfect

Mr Bradwell

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage with lovely walks, easy access to Plymouth by ferries and lovely walks in mount edgecumbe as well as Rame area.

Miss Church

Second stay here lovely little place x

Ms Ford

Perfect location and very comfortable cottage. Booking is very straightforward and any issues while staying there are very quickly resolved. We've been 4 times.

Mr Gibson

It is a great situation for walkers doing the SW Coast path marking the start of the walk to Portwrinkle. Public transport links are good with the 72 bus route and ferries to Plymouth a short walk away. If you're eating out and fancy a drink look no further than the Edgecombe Arms with friendly staff, good beer and a comprehensive menu serving all special dietary requirements. The cottage is like Fort Knox. You will not need to worry about security. It has spacious shower room (but no shower gel provided), a cosy lounge and a kitchen with all the mod cons except a dishwasher and a pair of scissors. The property has wifi but this is hit and miss. Many times there was no connection at all and when there was a connection it was very slow. This was not very helpful when we needed to plan our days out. Nevertheless, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time in the cottage and we highly recommend it.

Mr Taylor

We love this pretty, cottage in its stunning location. With ferry, bus, parkland and the city all on your doorstep, what more could you ask?

Miss Watkeys

A clean comfortable cottage with basic requirements within a lovely setting. A secure garden ideal for dog lovers . All Edgcumbe staff I met were very friendly and helpful.

Mrs Foreman

Perfect!

Mrs Johnson

Lovely cottage very cosy and clean will return

Mrs Woodhouse

Great cottage with good links to walks, buses and ferries on the doorstep. Fantastic position next to the river and a good pub. We have found Mount Edgecumbe staff helpful and accommodating.

Miss Copeland

Lovely cottage and great place to stay

Mr Farran

Cosy place, great location if you enjoy walks and has easy access to Plymouth via the ferries. Shame that the driveway is in poor condition so isn't usable however found it easy to park in the nearby carpark and used the permit provided. Didn't seem like the advertised 'deep clean' was carried out seeing as the cleaner was only there for an hour.

Mrs Leng

Excellent value and position. Beautiful views from the lodge and surrounding area. Edgecombe Arms is a real find just 50 yards from the door serving good food and drink with very friendly staff only too willing to help. Ferry to Plymouth is excellent.

Mrs Rice

Beautiful location looking over Plymouth Sound, hoe and loved we could use the grounds after hours. Did most nights sat by the beach and watching the water world go by. Fantastic walk to kingsand/Cawsand and onto Rame Head and with Whitsand Bay on our doorstep (a couple of miles by car) which is one of Cornwalls unsung hero’s, although the walk back up takes some stamina we couldn’t fault location. Only down side was the bedroom overlooked a picnic area by the shop so couldn’t really open blinds unless we wanted everyone to see in and the bedroom was incredibly hot. I have no idea what it would be like if a heatwave. Thank you for a great few days. We hope to return one day

MRS Hudson

Lovely cottage warm clean and cosy , we would stay again ! parking difficult at cottage opted for Cremyll car park with permit which is provided .

Ms Cannings

It was absolutely cold on arrival and took all evening to get the place to warm up. Once heating switched off the cottage soon became very cold again. They have put the bathroom where kitchen used to be. They've had to use a machinator thing for waste which is incredibly noisy .. sounds like a dragon roaring. On New Year's Eve the whole bathroom flooded, water up in shower tray and sink and toilet full and on floor. I'd only used toilet laser and nothing else and just me, yet this happened. The estate workers came very quickly and we saw the new year in clearing the system !!!!!! A red light in bathroom ... no explanation. Eventually workmen told me it's a fire warning. Needs a label to explain. Great location but most basic cottage I've stayed in.

Mr Marshall

Clients need to be given a proper warning about tricky access drive

Mrs Hodgkinson

Lovely cottage, warm and cosy .very clean Fantastic location, has everything you need. Defiantly go it’s beautiful. But be careful of the drive, you need a high car to get onto the drive, a 4x4. This is our first holiday in the U.K. for years and we will be back next year.

Mrs Foreman

Perfect

Mrs Holt

A quirky cottage in a stunning position.

Ms Ford

Very cosy cottage in a brilliant location. All you could want for a get away with access to nature, history and a city all without using your car.

Mrs Freeman

Great position beautiful views, you couldn’t wish for better surroundings. Walks you want to come back to.

Mrs Conway

Excellent location and nice private garden. The garden is great for dogs as it is fully enclosed. The driveway was very steep and quite stressful but you can use the provided parking permit for the cat park just up the road.

Mr Whitmill

4th time here, because we love the park and the area, but disappointing as the House,Earls Garden,Formal Gardens and adjacent coast path were closed until our last 3 days.

Mrs Hinkley

Lovely cottage and perfect location

Ms Ford

Wonderful location and very cosy comfortable cottage

Mr Burch

Great little cottage in a great location with a lovely garden

Mrs Foreman

Perfect for us and dogs

Mr Lamb

This is a quaint cottage in a wonderful location. There is always something to see on the river from the lounge window. Private courtyard. Peaceful yet ferry, shop and cafe are 'right there' when you need them!

Mrs Neal

It's a lovely compact property but the owners need to be more proactive in checking everything works before tenants check-in. Good parking and attractive, private garden patio area.

Miss Thomas

The cottage was very comfortable and clean, and the layout was excellent, the bootroom being very useful to remove muddy boots and dry wet paws. The courtyard area was brilliant for the dog, the first time I've been in a cottage where enclosed means enclosed! The location was excellent for walking, and I will definitely be returning to Mount Edgcumbe.

Ms Edwards

A lovely cottage in a fabulous location. Didn't need to use the car at all. Wallace my dog loved the Country Park right next door. Would certainly go again.

Mrs Turner

The lodge is in an absolutely perfect location. Mount Edgcumbe is on the doorstep with numerous walks & then there is a small beach to wash off muddy paws! The ferry is a few minutes walk to take you over to Plymouth & then there is the Edgcumbe Arms for a meal & drink at the end of the day. Perfect.

Mrs Northcott

2nd time around we were even more enchanted with Cremyll lodge. We received complementary tickets for the open air concert on the Saturday night and were offered a free tour of the house as compensation for a problem with the macerator and pump. We weren't able to avail ourselves of this kind offer but were extremely impressed with the immediate response to our call for help at 11pm on Tuesday night. If and when the bed needs replacing perhaps it might be possible to have two singles that could be pushed together to form a double meaning that two friends as well as couples could visit. We love the walking, the close access to both ferries and buses and the pub. Need we say more! Best wishes Susan and Oliver Northcott.

Mr Lamb

A wonderful discovery. A quaint secluded cottage for two, with loads of amenities and fantastic views over the water towards Royal William Yard and Drake's Island.

Mr Rudling

Brilliant cottage very comfortable. Excellent location. Wonderful walks around Mount Edgcumbe. Local pub just across the road serves delicious food. Beautiful beaches in the area, Whitsand Bay definitely worth a visit, quite a steep walk down and back but worth it.

Mrs Foreman

Lovely cottage, perfect garden, great for us and dogs. Easy to book and kept up to date with letters from Classic Cottages

Mr Trammer

The unique location and exceptional views of Plymouth and the boats makes this a perfect cottage for peaceful relaxing holiday.

Mr Bradwell

Lovely cosy clean and comfortable cottage with excellent access to Mount Edgcumbe, Rame and Plymouth. ideal for walkers.

Mr Rudling

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location

Mr Thompson

Great little cottage in a fantastic location. Lovely private garden - our dog was constantly tormented by squirrels coming over the roof from the shop garden and using the fence as a shortcut to the trees behind the house. The pub is great and the Cremyll and Barbican ferries provide quick and interesting routes to Plymouth. Also, the number 70 bus provides a scenic one and a half hour trip to Plymouth via Kingsand, Cawsand, Whitsands Bay and Torpoint. No need to use the car!

Mr Telford

Had a fantastic stay. Will be booking again. Would highly recommend.

Mr Moore

A wonderful little cottage to provide a country escape. Great walks, great view and ideal for the Cremyll ferry and the great food of the Edgcumbe Arms

Mr Booth

Can't think of a better place to stay for a relaxing long weekend away. Love the cottage with it's modern equipment and it's cosy feel. It's has a great view across Plymouth Sound, a local pub, fantastic walks along the Cornish coast and a ferry service over to Plymouth. Would come back again.

Mr Bradwell

Wonderful cottage cosy and clean, with lovely outlook, excellent walks from the cottage i hardly used the car for anything, easy access to Plymouth and all of rame area, Ferry's and pub on the doorstep, and very quite.

Mr Burch

An excellent cottage in a wonderful location.

Mrs Kemery

Cottage was very cosy, clean and warm, ideal for walks, the garden is enclosed, especially for a jack russell as they tend to get under gates, the view out of one window is the sea , watched boats and the bedroom window looks over the park, stables cafe and edgecumbe arms has lovely food and friendly staff

Mrs Foreman

100% Perfectly amazing !

Mr Barham

Great location for access to Plymouth (via Cremyll ferry). Warm, cosy, and thoughtfully decorated. A pity that with a bathroom large enough to accomodate it, there was no bath. After a long day walking the coastal path, a relaxing bath would have been very welcome. The shower cubicle could also have been bigger and, certainly, taller - anyone over 6ft tall will have to be crouching a bit to get their head under the shower. Mount Edgecumbe estate was delightful and a very interesting visit. With no WiFi, you are dependent on your mobile. However, for some, no WiFi is exactly what would be appealing for a holiday destination!

Mrs Jones

cremyll cottage is a beautiful little cottage with fantastic views all around. We had an excellent stay there with our daughters little dog. (he loved have freedom of the outside garden area too) . The cottage was spotlessly clean. The pub just around the corner was very friendly and they served excellent food. We would defiantly recommend the cottage and we would certainly stay there again.

Mrs Hughes

Beautiful, well presented cottage with great access to Edgcumbe Park and the sea. Enjoyed our brief visit there and I'd recommend it.

Mrs Bygrave

Watching the sun rise through the lounge window quickly became the only way to start the day. Magical

Mr Berry

Lovely cosy cottage in a great spot!

Mr Campbell

Lovely cottage in a stunning location on the Mount Edgcumbe Estate. Nice walks around the estate, all staff very friendly and welcoming. Clean, friendly pub just minutes away serving good food. Ideal spot for getting away or easy 8 min ferry ride across into Plymouth.

Mr Gregor

Just perfect for a relaxing holiday!

Mr Orourke

we really enjoyed our stay , the cottage was really lovely and cosy, everything you would want was there, great enclosed garden for dogs.and a great location. the only down side was the waterproof mattress cover and duvet, made for a not so pleasant nights sleep very hot ect

Mr Golbery

A nice and quiet cottage in a wonderful surrounding

Mr Painter

Fantastic setting and location. Brilliant free park and gardens, friendly cafe next door. Excellent enclosed garden for dog, who loved the house and area! The local pub does excellent food and has a friendly atmosphere, welcomes dogs and gives them an individual water bowl, with dog biscuits on the bar. Cremyll ferry is a briliant experience. It looks like something out of Thomas the Tank Engine and offers a frequent service, connecting with the local bus. Plenty of beautiful places to visit locally, beaches, NT, towns and countryside. The lady in the cafe (niece of the original resident of the lodge) will order papers and items on request. Also does excellent pasties.

Mrs Pascoe

Cremyll Lodge was in a brilliant location for our weekend break; it was really warm and comfortable, the electric heaters are very efficient and there was loads of hot water for showers. Being part of Mount Edgcumbe Park was fantastic, we enjoyed some lovely walks with lots of wildlife and amazing views - good value Sunday lunch in The Orangery a few hundred yards away (cakes looked great, will try them next time!). It's so easy to hop on the ferry across to Plymouth - recommend River Cottage Deli at Royal William Yard, and a walk down across the Hoe to the Barbican (you can get another boat right back to Royal William Yard). If you don't want to cook, the Edgcumbe Arms is on the doorstep - it's recently been refurbished, the staff are very friendly and we had a couple of good (hearty!) pub meals. We will definitely be back.

Mr Clarke

A beautiful cosy little cottage in a stunning area of Cornwall. Days worth of walks and activities on the doorstep and Plymouth is only a short ferry ride away. The boot room and totally enclosed garden make this cottage perfect for dogs, and with beaches, woodland and open grass all close by, our dog really was in heaven!!

Mrs Kershaw

The first thing that strikes you is the wonderful location, inside the cottage feels comfortable and modern but has retained its character features, we had a great few days and wouldn't hesitate to return
