Right at the water’s edge on the beautiful Percuil River and tucked at the end of a quiet lane, Westward’s tranquil location and stunning views are sublime. Nearly all the rooms have panoramic water views, and doors from the living-room open onto a wide balcony that runs the length of the house, overlooking a lawn that is fenced from the water beyond.

The comfortable sofas, wood-burner and huge picture windows in the living-room might well entice you just to sit and watch the comings and goings out on the water, but should you feel the need to explore further afield there are a variety of restaurants and shops in St Mawes and The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are just a short drive away. The coastal footpath is nearby and the beautiful countryside of the Roseland peninsula is right on your doorstep – perfect for enthusiastic walkers.

In summer, a little watersports centre generally operates from the foreshore near the house so why not send the children off for a few lessons in dinghy sailing or paddle boarding while you sit on the terrace with a cup of fresh coffee and enjoy watching them from dry land!

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Parsons

Fantastic property with fantastic views could not have asked for anything better. Will be returning

Ms West

We loved staying in this house. The views were incredible and it was such a peaceful setting. The kitchen and rest of the house was very well equipped. Lots of walks from the doorstep and local info provided. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

Mr Hedges

The highlight of Westward are clearly the views, down the river towards St Mawes and beyond, and the blissfully peaceful setting. Very easy to sit out on the balcony for hours looking at the scenery and watching any activity on the river be it the boats or the herons. The layout of upstairs is ideal for groups, very social environment with comfy lounge seating, a large dining table and a superbly fitted kitchen. All the bedrooms are just practical in comparison. The garden needed a bit of upkeep when we stayed, but nothing too drastic, and is dog friendly and more importantly secure. The gated access on to river is a bonus, lovely going down at early morning or dusk. Perfect location for walking, with numerous routes into Portscatho and easy access for St Anthony’s Head. Would we go again? Absolutely!

Mrs Smith

Amazing house with the most stunning views of the estuary! Perfect holiday home with dogs because of all the footpath walks around! And private access to the water for paddling boarding and kayaking. So peaceful and relaxing.

Mrs Kirkbride

We had a wonderful holiday at Westward. The view was spectacular and facilities just as described. Would recommend the property and classic made it very easy.

Mrs Evans

A practical house with amazing views. Accessible to plenty of walks and easy boat trips to St Mawes.

Mr Tolhurst

We had a superb holiday enjoying the views and the tranquility at Westward. The games room was a great bonus enjoyed by all and our dog loved the large secure garden. We hope to come again.

Mr Hudson

The view and location are what is special about the house. The bedrooms are fine - perfectly adequate but not special - but it is made by the huge kitchen / dining / living room and the view across the river from there and the terrace. There are dog walks from the door and a gate from the garden down to a small beach. Be aware that, when we booked at least, the location was described as 1 mile NE of St Mawes - this is across the river and any land route to St Mawes is several miles long, not something for a gentle stroll into town as we'd expected.

Mrs Stabler

Comfortable house in a fantastic location. Great views. Lovely walks in the area

Dr Dean

The property is in a beautiful position overlooking the creek. There are close neighbours with whom you share car turning, which can be difficult. The property is well furnished and comfortable and suits our extended family when we stay

Mrs Terry

House a bit "tired" but very spacious and well equipped for 8 people. The garden is enclosed if you have a dog (at least, ours didn't find a way through - though he is big ) and being able to walk through the gate at the bottom of the garden to the tiny, stony beach was ideal for the paddle boarder in our group( who had taken her own board). The layout of the top of the house looking out over the water was perfect. The view is "special". Plenty of outdoor seating to utilise to take full advantage of view and sun (if lucky enough to have some- we were) Can walk from house to nearest litle beach through fields and along tracks.I spent a lot of time at house, just sitting and looking!! The parking is a small issue if you have a long car but doable. We left one of ours in the car park at the bottom of the drive - honesty box of £2 day. It was fine there - very quiet, end of road car park, and not over used. Location was perfect for me as I just loved the view - couldn't have been better for me but if you want to be going out to the busier towns and villages all the time, it may be a bit "out on a limb". It did seem a lot of money when I was looking to book but if 8 of us had gone, it would have been @ £300 each, which is quite acceptable in my view.

Mrs Blackmore

This is the second time i have visited Westward and we will be returning. I went with 6 girlfriends this time and they loved it . Last time i went with by siblings and my 95 year old Father and they loved it .The house is suitable for all ages. Its clean comfortable very well equipped warm and cosy even though its a massive lounge kitchen dining area with a great view. The beds are super comfy and lovely large bath sheets. Location is fabulous . Great access to the water and would be really good for paddle boarders. I certainly have no negative comments .

Mrs Goble

This is a fantastic property with fantastic views. Extremely well appointed, the owners have thought of everything. The lounge, dining, kitchen is huge and has panoramic views of the bay. Beds very comfortable. Bathrooms spacious and showers very powerful. The kitchen has everything you would need, 2 ovens, microwave, and 2 dishwashers. The garden is large and dog friendly. The utility room includes a washing machine, tumble dryer and drying rack. The games room has a table tennis table, table football, 2 large sofas and a television and dvd, with access to the lower decking and garden and more sunloungers. A large veranda with table, chairs and sunloungers completes the package. With a good location I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property.

Mrs Moon

Fantastic house with an amazing view in a great location to explore the area

Mr Goodhew

Westward is a fantastic house which works incredibly well for children with all of the space. The position is amazing and the owners have thought about what one needs when on holiday (big fridge, two dishwashers etc). Thank you for a wonderful week. I hope we will be back next year!

Mrs Peterkin

A beautiful, high standard accommodation in the most fantastic setting. The views over the estuary are stunning. The next door boatyard is well equipped and is lots of fun for all. If you want a peaceful, relaxing break this is perfect. After 20 years of holidays in Cornwall this house is hard to beat.

Mrs Nicoll

Beautiful home with stunning views and easy access to the water.

Mr Wray

Stunning location to while away days watching life on the watery horizon and if you want more adventure to exit the garden and sail / paddle over the horizon.

Mrs Temple

A perfect stay at a lovely house with outstanding views, whatever the weather, from inside the house and out. Peaceful but with a bit of boat activity to entertain and the most beautiful views across the wide river, with many wonderful birds to watch. Ten out of ten.

Mrs Nowakowski

There is only one word that describes this property from the moment you walk through the door - WOW! I have been fortunate to stay in some lovely places but this one is certainly one of the best. The view is just stunning and the house has every possible piece of equipment or furniture that you could expect. When we go on holiday we tend to go out and about every day exploring the area but on this occasion we were just happy to sit on the terrace and watch all the activity on the water. We had sunshine every day which was October is a bonus and it is a real sun trap sitting out. I only hope that we have the opportunity to visit again in the future.

Mr Dunlop

This was our second holiday at Westward and it absolutely fulfilled our expectations form the previous year. It is a spectacular house in a beautiful location, beautifully presented. Highly recommended and we are sorry we cannot return next year as it is already booked up during our possible dates.

Mrs Hudswell

A beautiful house in a spectacular location.

Mrs Adams

Westward is a gem for a large group.

Mrs Peterkin

Fantastic holiday cottage. Beautiful views over the estuary. Comfortable and well equipped accommodation. We go every year and always have such a wonderful time.

Mrs Cable

Great view and so very peaceful.

Mr Smith

One of the best views you’ll find and the panoramic window makes it all the more special!

Mr Fryer

Excellent place for a quiet break the view is spectacular over the river.

Mrs Loram-Martin

Lovely large accommodation in a lovely setting and so nice and quiet . Only downside no shops nearby.

Mrs Tod

The owner, Fiona, was very helpful with advice on the area. The accommodation was spotless and the location beautiful, even if a little remote. I would be happy to recommend this property to friends.

Mrs Bonham-Carter

We had a wonderful family holiday, and would love to return ASAP.

Mr Dunlop

Westward was the perfect base for a family holiday involving three generations in lots of boating, fishing, walking and beaching. The furnishing, equipment and presentation of the house were first class. The spectacularly beautiful setting, looking down the Percuil River towards St Mawes, dominates the living room, balcony and garden. Access from the garden allows for kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming from the rocky beach directly below. Launching, mooring and trailer storage for a boat was easily arranged with Percuil Boatyard (01872 580564) almost next door. The setting is peaceful and not at all crowded but there is always a 'buzz' of interesting activity on the river. Local facilities are quite adequate and Truro is only about 30-40 minutes away. The agency, Classic Cottages, were extremely helpful in the face of Covid 19 difficulties. We all agreed it was the best family holiday we had ever had. Highly recommended!

Mrs Peterkin

Exceptional cottage with outstanding views over the estuary. Really lovely house offering the comfort to relax, unwind and relax. It is so peaceful. Also has a game room which is great if the weather is disappointing. An added bonus is the adjacent boatyard which offers great facilities for younger members of the family!

Mrs. Connor

We spent hours sitting on the terrace looking at the most amazing view and watching the boats in the river. Then walked out of garden door, 1 minute along river bank to mini water sports centre- hires paddleboard and kayak and paddles up the estuary . Amazing

Mr Nelson-Jones

We had a brilliant holiday. The location is beautiful and very peaceful. The view is amazing.

Mrs Coe

This property is great for a family being together but yet being able to have your own space. Incredible river views and wonderful outside space - huge “balcony” and dog friendly garden. Fabulous location with direct access to the shore and footpaths on the doorstep. Didn’t want to leave !

Mrs Baker

Another great holiday in a beautiful place! Thank you for the thoughtful extra touches. This year the weather was a bit grim at times so we really appreciated the jigsaws and games room. Very comfortable and ideally designed for a wonderful family holiday. We shall return!

Mrs Baker

A very spacious property with amazing views. Very well equipped - especially the 2 dishwashers. Good showers. Garden large and tidy with good outdoor furniture. Welcome pack and fresh flowers. Don’t miss St Just in Roseland church, the Hidden Hut, Craftworks and Slice pizza van.

Mrs Ward

Lovely peaceful location, walking from the door, excellent beaches close by and sailing, kayak and SUP hire a few mintes away.

Miss Rose

Excellent location with superb views there is always something to watch. It is very quiet at night with some excellent star gazing from the balcony.

Ms Smith

The view from the living room is wonderful and peaceful, but is also entertaining when the sailing classes are on!

Mrs Forsyth

It is in a most beautiful area.

Mr Ruff

Lovely cottage, excellent location shame the oil tank wasn't fixed when fault was known....

Mrs Lester

We rented the cottage for my husband's 60th birthday, and we all absolutely loved the house and in particular the location. Thank you for helping to make it a great memory!

Mrs Peterkin

Beautiful cottage. Superb for water sports or watching water sports. Factastic views over the estuary from the patio - also a real sun trap! Great games room for cooler evenings and rainy spells.

Mrs Smith

Stunning location and so peaceful, lovely walks with the dogs from the house and a brilliant kayak/paddleboard hire company literally next door! Didn’t want to come home!

Mrs Kitson

Westward was the best holiday home we have ever discovered. The attention to detail was much appreciated , lovely linen towels and all the amazing kitchen equipment was much appreciated along with 2 dishwashers ,2 ovens and 2 kettles. The estuary views were amazing and as 8 south coastal walkers we loved the easy access to some great walks

Mrs Baker

Another perfect holiday! Westward is ideal - bright, spacious, excellent location, amazing views and everything has been thought of. Welcome tray is lovely and the owner is great at contacting by text to be friendly and helpful. Everyone - from age 4 - 81, had a marvellous holiday. Thank you!

Mrs Grainger

Perfect space. We were a multi generational family with 2 dogs holidaying together and there was something for everyone.

Mr Varley

Westward worked excellently for our family group which included adult children and two elderly ladies

Mrs Baker

So spacious and with an idyllic location. We loved the games room and found beautiful walks from the front door. We will be back again!

Dr Cole

Westward gave us a fantastic holiday, even with rather poor weather. The views are amazing and even three teenage boys gave it a seal of approval! Thank you.

Ms Burdett

It was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The house itself, the position, those views - just to die for, felt like we were in a different country. Absolutely 5 star.

Mrs Kentigern-Fox

Stunning location amazing views and a very well equipped property

Mrs Bradshaw

The house was everything we could have asked for & suited our needs perfectly. Location is stunning views amazing a real Cornish treasure.

Mrs Lawrence

Very spacious house in a wonderful location, very well equipped and comfortable. We would love to go back.

Dr Holman

Mr Rose

Lovely accomodation with superb views.

Mr Ohlson

We loved our stay at Westward, the view was awesome and a game of ping pong was such fun during the rainy afternoons.

Ms Albin

A shame 4th bedroom was laid out so that twin beds were at opposite ends of the room

Mrs Mellor

FANTASTIC property, weather and holiday. We were expecting beautiful views from the photos you have on your site but we were wowed by the full extent of them. Would definitely recommend and go back ourselves.

Mrs Baker

Westward completely exceeded our expectations. We were expecting it to be very nice, but it is exceptional. The location is idyllic, views just beautiful and the house has absolutely everything you could possibly want. All fittings are of an excellent standard, top level appliances, plenty of everything. The games room was a complete winner - and we hadn't even factored it into our holiday choice! The balcony along the rear of the property is just ideal - our 2 small children spent ages just trotting to and fro with wheely toys. Spacious rooms, quality of furnishings and fittings, thoughtfulness of owners, welcome tray and flowers, quality and quantity of appliances and equipment, restful nature of property, location ... and the garden rabbits - a complete delight!

Mrs Porch

Beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful.

Mr Anderson-Edward

What a great find! Wonderful last minute break in an idyllic location with watersports on our doorstep to keep the kids happy - absolute perfection.

Mrs Royston

We had a marvellous holiday in this spacious, comfortable, well-equipped property. The setting is idyllic. I would recommend it without reservation.

Mrs Donnell

This property far exceeds expectations. Its roomy, airy, well equipped and fantastic for a family holiday. We booked it for Christmas with sons coming from USA & Dubai so had to make sure they felt at home. They loved it. We had tournaments of table tennis and fuzzball as well as other games. The kitchen is so well equipped even though I took my own Christmas china everything I needed was provided. This had its down side because we ended up cooking every day as it was a pleasure to use the kitchen with loads of room to muck in together - TWO dishwashers & TWO ovens. PS Our bed in the upstairs bedroom was a dream which to a fussy couple like my husband and I is the Icing on the Christmas Cake!

Mrs Peterkin

Superb views over the gorgeous estuary. The most peaceful relaxing holiday ever.

Mr Rose

Outstanding views, you won't want to leave, peace and quiet even on a bank holiday, if you enjoy watching water sports this is the property for you!

Mr Matthews

The level of service from classic cottages is really second to none. We are already looking to book with them for 2015. G. Matthews

Mr Parr

Fantastic setting, there are plenty of walks about for the dog, very close to the river for fishing, easy to get about to St mawes, Falmouth etc etc. very peaceful location. Overall I am a very happy customer and will be returning. The owner Mrs Ferguson was very helpful, yes she had mentioned about the flies this time of year and supplied us with a fly light which helped, also reading through the comments book, comments left by other guests was helpful, as it looks like other previous guests had left comments about things and Mrs Ferguson has taken on board these comments and rectified these concerns so well done. Good management all round.

Mrs Redrup

A fantastic property with a fantastic view. Westward exceeded our expectations and looking forward to a return vist soon. Would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to chill out and relax, watching the world go by on the water.

Mr Redhead

The windows were filthy outside and inside with finger prints and hand markings. The patio set table was broken this was broken last year and should have been disposed off at the end of last season. The ground floor shower leaked in the same place has last year nothing been done. All these faults were highlighted last year. This cottage needs some T L C

Mrs Gilbert

Don't leave your mobile phone, I-pads etc on the windowsills in the living area because when it rains they flood!
