Reviews

Chapel Cottage is a simply delightful traditional Cornish cottage situated in the corner of a row of similar properties in an elevated position overlooking beautiful St Mawes and Falmouth Bay. Stylishly furnished to match the nautical location, Chapel Cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat or for family looking to explore this much sought-after part of the Roseland peninsula.

A short flight of ten shared access steps lead up a stone path and turn right past a neighbouring cottage to the front door. A small seating area here offers a stunning view of the bay and St Mawes below, the perfect spot for morning coffee or an evening aperitif. Cosy interiors and a warming wood-burner welcome you into the sitting-room where eye catching detail and pretty coastal ornaments complement the furnishings. And there's a Smart TV to keep everyone entertained after a busy beach day. A foldaway dining-table sits under the window so you can set the table and enjoy the sea view over dinner and fold it away again after to create more space. The kitchen sits at the rear, a beautifully crafted space with all you need to cook a holiday meal, including a Magimix coffee machine and slimline dishwasher. The ground floor areas are traditionally tiled with under-floor heating, ideal if your four-legged friend is joining you on holiday.

Climb the stairs to the first floor (please note the stairs are steep and the ceiling is low here, as is traditional in Cornish cottages) and the main double bedroom is up an additional step to the right. This room is a delight, with its feature king-size wrought iron bedstead and luxury linens you are assured of great night's sleep here. A window seat gives a bird's eye view of the bay, the perfect spot for a quiet read or just gazing out to sea. Along the corridor and up two steps the family bathroom sits in between the bedrooms and here you will find a bath with shower overhead so you can choose either a long soak or a refreshing shower. The twin bedroom is at the rear of the cottage with comfy beds suitable for either children or adults. A door leads from this bedroom to a gorgeous outside decked area with a table and chairs for al fresco dining and modular seating so you can sit and enjoy the Cornish fresh air throughout the day. What more do you need on your Cornish getaway!

Mr Hannah

We had a fantastic week at Chapel Cottage - it was warm and cozy, perfect for a winter get away ! We were very lucky that the weather was so good we got to sit at the front and admire the view whilst drinking coffee and eating a cinnamon bun from the bakery on the front - would love to go back !

Mrs Ragone

Chapel Cottage is such a hidden gem. The owner has thought out painstakingly how to decorate it and make it attractive for visitors. The guest book even had an introduction from the owner which I thought was a very touching message (if you stay you’ll know what I mean). We fell in love with St Mawes and the cottage. I think it would be perfect as a honeymoon cottage or an adults only escape. We had two small children with us and the steep hill and size of the cottage was perhaps a bit much for them.

Miss Parker

Very cosy, beautifully decorated cottage with lovely views and outside spaces - would recommend.

Mrs Raistrick

Excellent seaside cottage, beautifully decorated, tasteful and clean. Fabulous views and close to amenities and beach. Excellent area for walking, very hilly, so may not be suitable for people with mobility problems. Was difficult to find a green space to exercise the dog, other than the beach, but found a large green field suitable to let dog run free just up the hill from the cottage. Lovely relaxing place, bonus was a yacht race we could watch from the cottage. Good base for walking and sightseeing.

Miss Hugh

We had an absolutely wonderful honeymoon at chapel cottage. The cottage is so cosy & instantly felt like home. The view down to the harbour is gorgeous & sitting out on the front terrace with a glass of wine after dinner was just perfect. We bought our little dog with us & the house was great for him too. The location is perfect, although the steep hill up from town certainly helped keep us fit! But totally worth it for the view. We can’t wait to return again, it’s a real gem of a home - so pleased we found it. Also thank you for such lovely honeymoon treats! Flowers, bubbly & cute gifts -really thoughtful. Such a lovely surprise when we arrived.

Mrs Cooper

Great website with lots of information. And easy to use.

Ms Soni

A beautiful cottage, highly recommend. Stunning views out to St Mawes harbour, with a seating area to enjoy the view plus a decked garden out back. Everything was so well provided for our stay, we were really impressed - down to the coffee pods and dishwasher tablets! Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Mr LAY

Great stay in this lovely Cottage in St Mawes

Mrs Laughton

Such a lovely cottage, absolutely everything has been thought of & it’s super well equipped and thought out, especially to maximise space. The view from the front is stunning! It is a traditionally fisherman’s cottage, and it’s cosy! As a tall family the only real height issue to be aware of is the stairs, but something to bear in mind. The under floor heating & welcome for the dog was wonderful, just be prepared for a little walk to find grass, first and last thing! We had a wonderful family break.
