Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs McCann

Really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable well equipped cottage. Despite being a small cottage it feels very spacious, ideal for a couple. We love Gorran Haven, and this property is pretty handy for the beach and walks. Have rebooked for next year.

Mr Gray

Great location, great little cottage and our 3rd visit to The Old Dairy love it! need we say more!

Mrs Rowe

Lovely cottage in a good location. The property is tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean & well equipped. The parking wasn’t a problem as long as you reversed into the space. The tea, coffee, milk & biscuits were very much appreciated after a long journey. Would definitely recommend this property.

Mrs Hillier

Early March cottage was perfect for our stay. Warm, clean and comfortable. A bonus having the dishwasher with plenty of dishwasher tables too! A lot of places are closed in March so don’t expect to eat out easily locally. A lovely walk down to the charming beach /harbour. All the locals were very friendly and helpful. Useful village shop. Great for cliff path walks and garden visits Heligan Caerhays castle Eden project as well as private gardens open at the weekend. The cottage was perfect for our dog too. Hard floors throughout downstairs. Pegs by the doors for coats

Mrs Walker

Lovely small cottage in tiny village close to several fantastic walks and secluded beaches .

Mrs OWEN

Lovely cottage. Comfortable and well equipped. We found it spacious for the two of us. There is only a tiny outdoor space. We enjoyed the location- just a short walk down to the harbour. Lovely walks on the coast path in both directions. Great pub in Gorran Churchtown about 1 mile away.

Mrs Schröder

I really like your website and didn't miss anything

Mrs Walker

Great location property looking a little tired after our 4th stay. The scaffolding on the new property next door totally spoils the outside area and views.

Mrs Cuthill

We really loved our stay at the Old Dairy .The size of the cottage was just perfect for a couple and is decorated and fitted out beautifully. It's in a perfect location for walking down to the village and for doing some great walks on the SWCP between Mevagissey and Portloe. The parking was a real plus and by following the instructions on reversing we had no issues .Gorran Haven is a beautiful little village with great beaches and cafe's. The Haven Fish & Chips is excellent, and has fantastic fish and chips plus do gluten free.

Mrs McCann

Loved this cottage, had pretty much everything we needed, perfect for a couple and nice it’s dog friendly.

Mrs Hannabus

The Old Dairy is in a beautiful location and was very comfortable and well equipped.

Mr Burrows

This is a lovely cottage and our second stay here. The drive from St Austell to Goran Haven is spectacular. The cottage is bright, airy and welcoming and the milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were gratefully received. The only blight was one of the neighbours who is building a holiday let in his back garden next to the Old Dairy so from Monday to Friday from 08.30-18.45 we had the sound of a digger, a motorised wheelbarrow and the accompanying stench of petrol fumes. Although we were out every day breakfast and the early evening were somewhat spoilt. Expect similar disturbances over the coming months. Saying this we would return as the village and the area is lovely. Be sure to visit Lobbs farm shop at the Lost Gardens of Heligan and have fish and chips in the village chip shop.

Mrs Best

We found the cottage above our expectations , the pictures don’t do it justice . It was extremely clean , everything you need is provided including tea , coffee , sugar , small bottle of milk to get your first cuppa , washing up liquid , dish washer tablets . The housekeeper was very pleasant and full of local knowledge , a most enjoyable time was had by us both

Mrs Betts

We were very happy with the old dairy, it was cosy while being light and airy feel to the cottage, the cottage was very well equipped with everything anyone would need, the bed was also very comfortable a great nights sleep, would definitely recommend Gorran Haven it’s a lovely little fishing village.

Mr Slade

Great cottage and perfect location. Outside area a little disappointing.

Mrs Jerman

A clean and comfortable property in a good location. Goran Haven is lovely with good walks nearby. Great fish and chips from The Haven just above the beach and it was good to see The Mermaid cafe is still there. The Barley Sheaf is good for food and is walkable in around 20/25 mins (use the footpath to avoid the road). Mevagissey is only 15 mins drive if you go the slightly longer way to avoid the narrow roads through the town.

Mr Comley

A single bed cottage that is a steady walk to beach, well equipped and maintained. Quite position.

Mrs Julian

We really enjoyed our holiday staying in the Old Dairy. The cottage is clean and comfortable and feels quite spacious. Gorran Haven is a lovely place to stay with safe bathing and a dog friendly beach . Fabulous place to go walking around the costal paths.Has a nice cafe and chip shop . It’s our second stay in the old Dairy and we have booked up for next year again.

Mr Oliver

Firstly the good. Location is very good, ten minute walk down hill to beach and shops. Cottage itself is a nice size and was very clean and well decorated. The bed is very soft. Shower is ok. There is a selection of books and a jigsaw which was a nice touch as was the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits on arrival. The not so good. The outside space is poor and small. A lot of comment previously in reviews about the parking all of which is true. The hump to get on the drive is a significant size, the neighbour across the road parks his car in awkward position which does make getting on and off the drive more difficult. Towards the end of the week a caravan appeared outside the neighbours which made things even harder. If you are not a confident driver or have a car with low ground clearance the parking could be a very real issue.

Miss Edney

Excellent stay in this warm cosy cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped. Short walk downhill to beach and harbour. Loved this friendly seaside community. Didn’t need to move the car all week. Local bus enabled us to explore locally ,lost gardens of heligan and mevagissy. Lots of well signposted local walks. Would definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to rebook

Mrs Ash

Great location (5-10 min walk down to beach) , very quiet especially as road past the cottage was closed. Cottage is comfortable and cosy, also spotlessly clean. It was bigger than it looks in the pics and great for two of us and our dog. Patio garden at rear was good to sit and have a coffee when the sun came out. Outside tap good for washing the dog off. Weather was mixed and was good to be able to switch heaters on for a bit of extra warmth so we could dry out! Loved the tea, coffee and biscuits left for us. We can recommend the fish and chip shop in the village (2 cafes were closed) and also The Crown at St Ewe - great food and beer. We would definitely stay here again if we were to holiday in the area.

Dr Marsland

Excellent property for two: well-appointed and presented to a high standard throughout.

Mrs Walker

Pretty little character cottage in a stunning location close to the beach. Very clean and spacious property. Looking forward to our 4th stay next year.

Mrs Oxland

Overall, stay was adequate but property needs attention which we have addressed with Classic Cottages. On arrival, Cottage looked OK. Parking is right outside the door. You have to reverse onto it otherwise you'll catch your vehicle underneath. We parked our camper van on it (transit size) so it's big enough, although the bushes could do with being cut back on the driver's side. The neighbours across the road don't help with where they park, opposite the driveway. The courtyard is miniscule. We didn't sit out. There is no view whatsoever, just a huge block wall. The beach is a 10 minute walk away but it is down a very steep hill so for those less mobile, you'll struggle on the way back up. Its worth going down to the beach and if you do, we recommend Haven Fish and Chip shop - superb. There is only one entrance to the property and there seems to have been some sort of leak. The floor is swollen and the door sticks and the threshold is broken. There is a large crack in the wall as well. Kitchen has what you need mostly. Nice welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and milk. Washing up liquid was provided and a few dishwasher tablets for dishwasher. We never used it for just two of us but we did have to wash dishes before we could use them as they were still dirty so those weren't checked before we arrived. The freezer part of the fridge was also in need of defrosting. Oven, hob and microwave all worked well. Washing machine was really smelly and in need of a good clean. Again, could be due to leak and its integrated so with door closed, it hasn't helped. Small dining table and chairs in lounge. Lounge was OK with a sofa, armchair, coffee table, TV, WiFi etc. Good selection of books and DVD's. No local information or how to get to the beach, or walks but there was information on Classic Cottages website about surrounding area. Stairs to upstairs are steep and when you get to the top they turn to the right and no handrail. Anyone with mobility issues or arthritic hips or knees will need to be careful especially when descending. The worst things about upstairs are the sloped ceilings on either side and the bed. If you forget in the night, and get out to the toilet, if you are tall, you will crack your head both in the bedroom and in the bathroom. When you stand up from the toilet you have to keep your head ducked. If you want to use the heated towel rail, unless you are 4 foot tall, you'll struggle. The bed, is so soft, it offers no support at all. We had back pain every morning we got up. Shower worked well with hot water all the time. No wardrobe in bedroom but a hanging rail in bathroom cupboard. Towels were provided and nice and soft. It wasn't the worst place we've stayed but it wasn't the best and there are better cottages around for the money. We only used it as a base for a week and were out all day. Cottage just needs some TLC but beware of stairs and sloping ceilings .

Mr Comley

The Old Dairy was a very good cottage, providing clean modern comfortable accomodation. Within walking distance to Gorran Haven beach.

Mrs Ford

Very good cottage.Comfortable clean .Just what was needed

Mrs Tooke

The Old Dairy is a comfortable and welcoming retreat with everything you need for a perfect Cornish holiday.

Mrs Davis

We loved The Old Dairy. It was a perfect place to stay in a perfect location. The cottage was immaculate, so clean. The bed was so comfy, it looked brand new!. The kitchen was fully fitted with everything and more than we needed The sofas were comfy It was so light and airy It was cool after a day out in hot sun Easy to park our car if you reverse in, we saw other comments about difficulty parking but we had no problem if you take it easy. Bathroom was great size. Shower was lovely Hot water in an instant Washing machine very easy to use and little garden, although tiny, we were able to dry clothes very easy Accessibility to beach and harbour very easy although bit of climb up but got used to that Plenty of room for clothes in bedroom So light up in bedroom Great decor throughout Great cottage for dogs, even blankets to put on sofa if dog jumped up Gorran Haven is great location. Every evening after our meal qe would sit on harbour wall watching sun go down. We had excellent holiday in The Old Dairy with excellent weather, it couldn't have been better Housekeepers really lovely and so helpful when I had a few questions, nothing too much trouble and they cleaned cottage to very high standard. Thank you for lovely coffee, teabags and biscuits, really nice thought. Thank you so so much. We shall be back to stay in The Old Dairy. We highly recommend The Old Dairy. Angela Davis 8 to 14 July 2022

Mrs Hough

Delightful cottage, immaculate throughout with everything of a high quality. Bed and sofas very comfortable. Lovely generous welcome pack. No garden as such but small space with bistro set catches late sun for an evening drink! Short walk to sandy beach and harbour of lovely Gorran Haven. Perfect cottage for a couple, highly recommended.

Mrs Dee

Lovely little cottage and village. Came 2 year’s ago and will definitely be back.

Mr Newton

The Old Dairy is a light and comfortable cottage set away from the harbour of Gorran Haven yet less than ten minutes walk away.

Ms Edge

This was our second stay at the Old Dairy + we have already booked our third. The cottage is ideal for a couple. Great location for the beach + coastal walks. Accommodation is very comfortable + extremely clean.

Mr Burrows

The Old Dairy is a wonderful cottage, set in a quiet village. The drive from St Austell to Gorran Haven is magical and not at all difficult. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and very cosy. The drive is no problem to park on, just reverse in cautiously! We loved walking around the village: you must have fish and chips at the Haven by the beach and a drink in the Llawnroc hotel. Food is also excellent here. Do also visit Lobbs farm shop in the grounds of the Lost Gardens of Heligan for superb local produce; lovely pasties and local meats, cheese, gin and wine.

Mr Matthews

The Old Dairy was a comfortable base for exploring this area. Conveniently located for walks to Mevagissey and also in the other direction to Vault beach and Dodman Point. A most enjoyable week spent in a picturesque Cornish village.

Ms Parker

A home from home by the sea.

Mr Taylor

We loved our stay at the cottage. It is well positioned, quiet and simply but tastefully decorated... not luxurious, but very comfortable and with everything we needed.

Mrs Crowter

Had a wonderful holiday at the Old Dairy. The cottage was well positioned and a steep walk down to the beach was much enjoyed daily! Need to be careful reversing car into small space as can easily scrape bottom of car! Cottage was superbly decorated with calming coastal theme. Very well equipped (No pasta bowls which would have been useful) Everything was very comfortable except the bed which was awful. No support for back, a very squishy, marshmallow mattress provided. However, we turned it over for the latter 6 nights having slept little for first night due to discomfort and back ache, and that was much better. Still a soft mattress, but we coped. There is little storage in the cottage, so we were aware of all our "stuff" being somewhat of a clutter, but we would definitely go back again, just hoping they have replaced the mattress!

Mrs Dain

Really peaceful location that made you feel safe and welcome. We found everyone we meet in the village polite and friendly . The patio has a gate so we took a padlock and stored our electric bike in whilst there . It’s totally hidden from the road . Excellent local shop next to the beach five mins down the hill sells everything. So many things to recommend to do ! Lost gardens of heligan, caerhays castle, walk to megavissey over cliffs and catch the bus back , Castletown for ship wreck museum . I drive a Vitara s cross and had no issues with parking at the property - but there’s room in the road just up from the cottage if you have any concerns.

Mrs Brown

Delightful cottage, nicely furnished. In a good location in village with shop and places to eat. Coastal footpath nearby.

Mrs Lucas

Fantastic location with a 5 min walk to the beach. Well equipped and spacious, ideal for a couple. Outside space is limited but then you are only a short distant from beautiful Gorran Haven beach Super clean and tastefully decorated, there’s nothing not to like about this property !

Mrs Keysell

Parking slightly awkward but cottage very clean and tidy.

Mr Standley

Geat cottage for two to explore the local area! Everything you could need for a relaxing break!

Mrs Jarvis

Lovely cottage. Nice welcome pack. Really comfortable bed and bed linen. Overall a really comfortable stay

Mrs Shannon

The old dairy is ideal for a couple well equipped to a high standard

mrs saunders

The Cottage was lovely and a good location but the court yard was very uncared for. The table and 2 chairs were completely rusted through the brambles cascading down the wall . The drive plants needed cutting back to the wall. We like being outside it was such a shame we could not sit out side with a coffee.

Mrs Walker

This is our 2 nd visit and we have enjoyed ourselves even more as we now know the area and found even more lovely walks and beaches on this stay .

mrs Fulcher

Lovely village.. pretty and peaceful. Almost perfect cottage. Ideal location for walking and exploring the local area.

Mr Wye

Classic Cottages description of the parking space provided with this cottage breaches consumer trades description legislation and is simply false. Be prepared to sustain damage to your vehicle if you use it!

Mrs Hawken

It’s absolutely perfect for a couple - a comfortable base to explore the area great value

Mrs Walker

Lovely cosy cottage for 2 and a dog! Well equipped , and located just a short walk from the village beach and a longer but manageable walk to a large remoter beach that in March we had virtually all to ourselves . Local shop had fresh bread cakes and essentials and we had lovely chats with friendly locals .

Mr Pappin

Great cottage. Great location. Will be back!!!!!!

Ms Garner

Car most definitely needed!

Miss Hansard

Beautiful location for walkers.

Mrs Dawson

Absolutely gorgeous little hideaway, immaculately clean, fully equipped and perfect location to walk to the village and beach, this was our second visit but won’t be our last. Perfect in every way!!!

Mr Falcus

A delightful and beautiful cottage for two.

Mr Gray

Our stay in the Old Dairy was just perfect. The cottage is wonderful and has been decorated to a very hard standard. The location is great and it is very easy to get out and explore in the surrounding areas.

Miss Vautrinot

The Old Dairy is a gem. It is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Cornish coast,so many walks from the doorstep-recommend walking to Portmellon/Mevagissey. Many other places of interest only a short drive away eg Caerhayes and Portluney beach. Gorran Haven is a lovely little village, locals very welcoming -appears to be a very community spirited place. So nice to see homemade jams and homegrown plants for sale alongside honesty boxes. The beach is fabulous, dog friendly-OK to let dog off the lead during quiet periods if well behaved. We couldn't fault the cottage or the service we received from Classic Cottages. Thank you!

Mrs Dawson

It was absolutely stunning!! Perfect location, dog friendly, cosy, warm, had everything we could possible need!! We have booked to go back!

Dog friendly though the back yard is tiny. Great food for a special meal out at the just down the road - and dog friendly in the bar.
