This delightful single-storey converted barn is one of two barns set on an unspoilt Cornish country lane close to many beaches, and with a large garden this is the ideal holiday home for families looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Hayloft (3129) (sleeping two) is available at the same location should you need additional accommodation for grandparents. Long Linhay retains lots of its original character and provides quality comfortable accommodation.

A delightful stroll across two fields leads you to the National Trust coastal footpath. The picturesque fishing village and harbour of Portscatho, with its village store, galleries and pubs, can also be reached from the coast path or alternatively are a five minute drive away.

Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Trezona

A delightful barn conversion, with everything provided that anyone would need on holiday. Big fluffy towels, & the best showers I have ever used. Easy access, & safe parking, which means a lot in Cornwall.

Miss Madgwick

This is the third time we have stayed in this pair of properties and have booked again for next September. High standard of comfort in this lovely location. Highly recommended!!

Mr Dack

Long Linhay is perfectly situated for a family beach holiday. Excellent accommodation, fully equipped and the garden is a great bonus. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Mrs Tomlinson

Don’t really want to tell anyone how good this place is or else we won’t be able to get booked in again!! Great rural location, with fabulous coastal walks on the doorstep. Safe, enclosed garden with sun loungers, picnic bench & bbq. Fully equipped cottage with everything thought of. Friendly owners live nearby should you ever need any help or advice. Before we visited this place, we never went to the same place twice…….now we can’t find anything like this that ticks all the boxes for us, hence we have been the last four years!

Mrs Magness

We had a fabulous holiday with lots of lovely walks and it was great to have our friends staying in the Hayloft at the same time. Very peaceful which is just what we wanted. It's close to the beach and the countryside and the dogs loved it as well. Booked again for next year on the way home and so did our friends.

Mr Haultain

Great property, I a great location. Host's were lovely popping in on the first evening to check we were settled, and had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Mrs Hyett

We had the most wonderful two weeks here. Long Linhay is a lovely, thoughtfully converted property in a beautiful, peaceful setting full of birdsong. The weather didn't cooperate this year but we found lots to do. The hosts are lovely, available without being intrusive and were extremely helpful in making the garden a little more small-dog proof so we could truly relax. I was genuinely sad to leave.

Mrs Helfrich

Great location with a good size, dog secure garden.

Mrs Ely

A fabulous stay at Long Linhay, such a comfortable cottage and the beautiful garden was perfect for relaxing in at any time of the day and completely safe for our dogs too. Great location being just an easy walk into Portscatho or to Towan beach - we can’t wait to return!

Mr MacDougall

We spent a wonderful week at Long Linhay which was helped by amazing weather. Even if the weather had been bad, we would have enjoyed the time in this warm, comfortable holiday home. The central heating was excellent and there was always plenty of hot water. Long Linhay is ideally situated close to Portscatho and the coastal path. We can especially recommend the walk to Towan beach ( where there is a loo and coffee shop). There are so many footpaths to choose from so a map of local walks is a must. We loved the fact that the garden was fully fenced for dogs which made life much easier. If you want to eat out, we can recommend The Standard Inn ( about a ten minute walk ) but would suggest that you book if you are going in the evening. We also enjoyed lunch at the Plume and Feathers in Portscatho and the Roseland Inn at Philleigh. All are dog friendly. Thank you Tony and Jude for a wonderful stay….we feel totally refreshed! I’m sure we will be back!

Mr Renouf-Watkins

Hosts/owners lovely, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The property perfect for myself as a wheelchair user. Great property and hope to stay again in future years. Big plus having the Standard Inn at the end of the lane for fantastic Sunday lunch or dinner on any day! Massively recommend.

Miss Madgwick

Lovely single storey building with secure area for our dog. Well placed to walk to the coast and beaches. What a delight!

Mrs Tomlinson

Our third time of visiting, as for us, it’s just perfect. We love the fact that it is quite rural, but only a short walk from the village. A beautiful enclosed garden for our dog. Has everything we need. The new addition of a bbq & WiFi were very welcome. Comfy garden loungers. The lovely owners are only a stones throw away, should you ever need them, but are never intrusive. Some great coastal walks & each year we’ve found another hidden gem of a beach. Looking forward to next time already.

Miss Robinson

We had a fabulous stay at Long Linhay (we have previously stayed at Hayloft which is the neighbouring cottage). The cottage is very comfortable and had everything that we needed. The garden was perfect for our dogs as it was fully enclosed, it was lovely for us to sit out in too. The cottage is in a beautiful and very tranquil location, there was no noise at all. The location is also really good for exploring the peninsula and is very close to the coast path. Portscatho is within easy walking distance and we can highly recommend the Sunday roast! All in all, we had a great stay. We would recommend Long Linhay and I'm sure we'll be back to stay again.

Mr Wilkes

Another lovely stay at Long Linhay, spotlessly clean, lovely owners! This time we also had the bonus of our phones picking up a signal, which was much appreciated! Would highly recommend.

Mrs Peters

We had a lovely holiday at Long Linhay and spent most of our time walking from the door. Rosie our working cocker loved the garden as did we.

Miss Goddard

Long Linhay is a fantastic place to stay. It is so private set down a pretty and very quiet country lane. The garden backs onto fields and it is well looked after and in good shape for when you arrive. The interior is well kitted out and a very comfortable base or home from home. Portscatho was a 2 minute drive to park in New Road for the beach or a lovely stroll across fields which took 10 minutes maximum. It really is a great base to enjoy peace and relaxation but also the wonderful amenities near by in Portscatho , The wonderful beach and not forgetting the amazing Hidden Hut. I will be back !

Mrs Legrys

Brilliant location, very peaceful. A lovely cottage, just right for a family of 4. Walking distance of stunning beaches and local amenities. Would definitely rebook Long Linhay.

Ms Owen

Fantastic location, excellent for a peaceful & enjoyable break in a stunning part of Cornwall, only a stones throw from the village & coastal path. Very spacious cottage for 4 adults & 2 dogs, great secure garden. Perfect for us!!

Mrs Tomlinson

An excellent cottage that is tucked away from everywhere. Great for lots of walks. Close by to two brilliant beaches. The cottage is extremely well equipped both inside & for the garden. Very secure garden for dogs/children. Lovely fluffy white towels. Flowers & homemade cake on a arrival a lovely welcoming touch. A great pub in the village- The Plume of Feathers. Staff very welcoming. The cottage owners live near by, but not in sight & are very welcoming & happy to help with any advise should you need it. Meets our away from it all holiday perfectly. Our second time of staying & have already booked for next year. We love it.

Mr Jackson

The two cottages are exactly as described on website. Clean, comfortable good location for walks, beach cafes and beaches. Interesting bird and wildlife around the cottage. Very quiet location Easy to travel to nearby locations. Would definitely reccomend

Mrs Wickenden

Comfortable cosy barn conversion in great position for walking. Safe enclosed driveway and rear garden for the dogs. Very friendly and helpful owners on hand if needed.

Mrs Peters

Extremely helpful owners. We all had a lovely holiday at Long Linhay. The cottage garden is lovely and we enjoyed sitting in the sun. Although Cornwall is busy, walking around the peninsula was very peaceful. Such nice weather meant we could swim in the sea at Towan.

Ms Owen

Probably the best self-catering accommodation we’ve stayed in! I actually enjoyed the lack of phone signal & WiFi as it meant we could really switch off & relax. Perfect location, only a short walk to Portscatho for shop, pub etc but far enough away to be quiet & peaceful!

Mr Wade

Lovely barn conversion with an impressive wooden frame in the main section. It was very well layed out, light and airy as well as cosy. We received a great welcome with a decorated Christmas tree which was a real thoughtful treat and the tea tray set up including cake was much appreciated on our arrival. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs. We loved the peace and quiet and not having wi-fi for a few days was heaven. We certainly enjoyed our stay.

Ms Wynne-Jones

Great for walkers - walks in both directions, with the coastal path near by. Pleasant dog-proof enclosed sunny garden.

Mrs Turner

We enjoyed our stay and the lovely rural and quiet location. The parking and garden areas are superb. We enjoyed the birdlife in the garden and the visiting Deer in the evenings. A lot of fab walks straight from the cottage, definitely recommend walking down the lane to Towan Beach which is lovely and deserted first thing and then walking back along the coast path. Lovely way to start the day! Also walking into Portscatho is a nice and easy walk - cut through the caravan site to the coast path and come out right by the Harbour. It's a shame we had no phone signal or 4G whilst in the cottage as the property doesn't have wifi we did find this a hinderance - but overall we had a great week, thank you!

Mrs Howarth

Another great week spent at Long Linhay in it’s wonderful setting. The weather was an absolute bonus too.

Mrs Murray

lovely walks from the cottage so no need to use the car all the time.

Mrs Tomlinson

Long Linhay is set in the beautiful area of Roseland. Down a quiet country lane out of the village, so is very tranquil, while having easy access to the coast & lots of excellent walks. Everything you could need to have a perfect holiday. Loved it so much, we have booked again for next year.

Miss Harris

A wonderful stay in a cosy and comfortable cottage. Very well equipped and a shower that you won’t want to leave! Comfy beds, cosy rooms and a lovely secluded garden! We would definitely stay again!

Mrs Putt

Second time we have stayed here, it is a lovely holiday home in a peaceful and gorgeous location, thanks to the owners for sharing it! The property would benefit from a WiFi connection - particularly given current agile working arrangements.

Mrs Howarth

Despite the wildest weather possible, we had another great week at warm and cosy Long Linhay. Looking forward to our next visit.

Dr Parker

A very comfortable cottage, within easy walking distance of pubs, shop, coffee shop and coast path. Had a great time despite the rain!

Mr Dermo

The cottage is equipped to a very standard and is in a great location. The owners, Mr & Mrs Tomlinson, we’re most welcoming and always on hand to help with any queries. We would throughly recommenced it to anyone wanting a holiday in this beautiful part of Cornwall.

Mr Mitton

Everything we needed for a happy and relaxed stay, right down to the welcome tea-tray with lemon cake and flowers on the table. The private garden was a delight as we were blessed with good weather with only one wet day. The location of the cottage is within easy reach of all that the Roseland Peninsular has to offer. Thank you Mr. & Mrs Tomlinson for a lovely holiday.

Mrs Granville-Harper

A very relaxing, peaceful stay in this beautiful property. It is extremely well equipped and very cosy, with a lovely garden and easy access. Good parking facilities and an easy walk to the nearby villages. Lovely surrounding countryside and a real stress-buster. All in all, delightful and thoroughly recommended.

Mrs Spires

Very helpful owners, nice touch the cake on our arrival Super secluded secure garden. Lovely well equipped cottage in a great location. We’d definitely return.

Mrs Allen

Our third visit to Long Linhay and as comfortable and relaxing as ever. A quiet and peaceful location with a dawn chorus second to none. We thoroughly recommend The Boathouse Cafe & Restaurant in the village, a warm welcome, dog included, and delicious food. We will be very happy to return.

Mr Richardson

Long Linhay is a very comfortable and well equipped property in a lovely quiet location with easy access to beaches and the coastal path, as well as being just a short walk (20 minutes) into Portscatho. We are a party of four including a disabled person, plus a dog, and this was our second visit. As we found it so accommodating on the first visit we decided we had to come back, and we are very glad we did. I'm sure we'll visit again - thank you.

Mrs Royle

Excellent location, within easy walking distance of Portscatho, the coastal path and the sheltered inland walks. Very sheltered garden behind the property and excellent showers in the two bathrooms!!

Mrs Howarth

Another wonderful relaxing week spent at the lovely and welcoming Long Linhay. It’s location is special and can be enjoyed all year round.

Mr Whitehouse

Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and easy parking, near the shop really quiet location.

Miss Seville

I truly lovely property. Fantastic location. Great garden. Clean and comfortable.

Mrs Hearnshaw

The property is lovely, in a great location and the owners very friendly and helpful. A perfect property for a small family, very well equipped and in a quiet location yet still close to the village. A great base for exploring Roseland.

Mrs Tait

Lovely Cottage which is down a very quiet country lane. Fantastic walks with no need to use the car. Lots of wildlife in the area, a seal colony along the coast path and many gardens to visit. The Cottage had everything we needed and much more and was beautifully furnished. We took our dog and found the enclosed drive area and garden ideal. The owners left some flowers and came for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The Cottage didn't have wifi or any phone signal so we could truly relax and get away from it all!

Mrs Allen

We were very happy to return to Long Linhay, this time for 2 weeks. As before we felt very comfortable and “at home”. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this lovely location and the excellent walks from the door and further afield. A wonderful holiday and we’ll be back next year!

Ms Hall

Long Linhay is a relaxing barn conversion situated in a quiet and peaceful location. Having two en suite bedrooms is a definite plus and the power shower is a joy! an ideal spot for walking the coastal path .

Mr Whitehouse

Really great two bathroom barn, full of light and contemporary design set in peaceful setting with good on site parking.

Mrs Howarth

We first stayed in Long Linhay shortly after it’s conversion from barn to cottage and we were delighted to find that it still looks and is, in excellent order. It’s in a wonderful peaceful setting, has spacious accommodation(which includes great parking) and a lovely garden for both humans and dogs.

Ms Westall

Liked the location, layout of property, peace and quiet.

Mrs Easton

Lovely cottage, beautiful location, peaceful and relaxing stay.

Mrs Allen

We had a truly wonderful holiday. Glorious weather, lovely long walks on the coast path, delicious food (especially at The Royal Standard), crazy ball games & cooling paddles on the beaches with our dog. At the heart of it all was Long Linhay. Instantly relaxing & blissfully quiet.Very comfortable bed & excellent shower room. A big thank you to the owners,Judy & Tony, who were very welcoming & should be very proud of the lovely holiday home they have created. We have already reserved two weeks for next year.

Mrs Dimond

owners were very welcoming and friendly.

Miss Russell

Long Linhay is an absolutely charming cottage in a beautiful location. It is very well equipped and offers plenty of space both inside and out. We loved the peace and privacy of the cottage and its gorgeous garden, but also enjoyed being within walking distance of Porthscatho, Gerrans and the coastal path. The weather was kind to us so it really felt like a little piece of paradise! The owners were also friendly and helpful. We didn't want to leave and would highly recommend a stay here.

Mrs Moger

The location is great, our favourite beach is a walk through the estate. Coastal path is within walking distance. We love this area and know it well. The barn and garden is perfect for us and the dog. It was a surprise there was no WiFi, no phone line at all. We would probably need a washing machine if we stayed for a week in the summer with sandy towels. Also because the main bed was broken and resulted in your head and legs being higher than your body it was painful and my husband slept on the floor each night. The owner came over twice to help fix it and was lovely but it needed replacing and was the main disappointment of the holiday really.

Mrs Logan

Quiet peaceful location. Some lovely walks for dog owners.

Mr Gray

Peaceful setting.

Mrs Gilroy

If you are in need of a peaceful, relaxing retreat, this is the place for you. From the lovely welcome tray with tea and cake to greet you to the beautiful garden to relax and enjoy the peace- it is a haven. This was our second visit and we will certainly return. I would love to go back again right now!!

Mrs Stearn

An excellent cottage for 4 people

Ms Leveridge

We arrived after a long journey from Scotland to find a welcoming tray of tea and custard tarts. The accommodation did not disappoint. It was clean, very comfortable and we lacked for nothing. We had our Border Collie, Skye, with us and the enclosed garden was perfect for her to have a wee run in the morning. The barn is incredibly well situated to walk along the coastal path and we were able to cycle on very quiet roads with Skye running alongside. More hanging space for clothes would have been great, but this is a very minor niggle. Our first visit to Cornwall - we will be back :)

Mr Stewart

We had a very enjoyable stay at Long Linhay this summer. The property felt spacious and comfortable and the layout (bedrooms at either end with individual en-suite facilities) meant that we weren't feeling on top of each other - a good thing with 2 teenage children. We have had numerous holidays in Roseland (and Gerrans in particular) over previous years, so can obviously thoroughly recommend the area. Worth being prepared for the limited phone signal and relatively sparse wifi available locally, but I don't personally see this as a problem at all - nice to have some peace and quiet.

Mrs Wood

Highly recommended

Mr Cavanagh

A lovely cottage, well presented with easy access to the village, very peaceful area, perfect for pets we had a very enjoyable stay

Mrs Gilroy

A beautiful and inviting barn set down a peaceful country lane. The barn has a stunning private, garden which leads onto gorgeous countryside with an abundance of wildlife. A wonderful, relaxing retreat, would definitely stay the again.

Mrs Page

Loved that there was a welcome tray and flowers - much appreciated
