Reviews

Oyster Cottage provides unexpectedly spacious and peaceful accommodation, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Mevagissey's historic centre but just a three minute level walk from the harbourside. The end cottage of a modern terrace of five, there is a large, enclosed garden and private parking for a medium-sized car, an unexpected bonus in such a small village although beware of the narrow entrance.

This is a delightfully scenic village with narrow lanes of colourful terraced cottages crowding the hillsides around the sheltered harbour below. Fishermen still mend their nets on the harbourside and offer boat trips to visitors, and there are craft shops, tea-rooms and old smugglers' pubs to explore on dry land. Having negotiated the narrow winding streets, Oyster Cottage is a lovely holiday destination.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Browne

We had a fantastic stay for a week in Oyster Cottage visiting beautiful Mevagissey and as a base for visiting other areas in Cornwall. The property was clean and spacious and had everything we needed and more and had a homely feel. The lovely enclosed garden was great for our dog .The entry to the car park was a bit tight but was something we got used to negotiating. We are already thinking of booking again for next year.

Mr Grand

The cottage is very well-located, with the harbour, places to eat, small convenience shop and excellent bakeries all within short walking distance. Although the cottage is up a steep hill, there is a comfortable level walk to the centre which magically erases the steepness.

Mrs Butler

Great cottage with excellent garden area for dog. 5 minute walk to the harbour. Tight for parking.

Mr Pilcher

We had a lovely time staying in Oyster Cottage. It is so well located for the harbour and the rest of Mevagissey, being a short level walk from everything. The house itself is very comfortable as a place to spend time and feels like a home, rather than a holiday let. It does feel a bit lived in but the house was generally clean and well presented. Although electric, the two showers were both powerful and satisfying to use. Getting a car into the parking space is a bit exciting - if you have a large car then I can only advise taking things very slowly and carefully! After unloading the car we paid for parking in the nearby car park which was less than ten minutes walk away and only £50 for the week which was definitely worthwhile.

Mrs Griffiths

Nice spacious cottage in a lovely location but don't believe it's good value for money

Mrs Johnstone

Lovely, clean, comfortable cottage and minutes walking distance to the pretty harbour. The garden was a great sun trap to relax in knowing our small dog could not escape. Such friendly locals including a particularly helpful car par attendant in Willow car park. There are short cuts to walk from the car park to the cottage if you can susse them out. Wouldn't recommend taking your car to the cottage unless you have nerves of steel. Equally hard getting in and out. Good meal at Shark Fin restaurant and The Ship Inn! Would thoroughly recommend Oyster Cottage and Mevagissey.

Mrs Humphries

Lovely spacious cottage well located within easy walk to harbour. Well equipped and beautifully decorated. Very quiet and good sheltered garden. Convenient for Heligan, Caerhays and Charleston.

Mr Boulton

Excellent location. Easy walk into village. Ferry to Fowey well worth the money but make sure to book the return. Good local walks but can be quite hilly in places.

Mrs Garratty

Our second visit to Oyster Cottage, which suits our party of three generations so well. Car parking tricky if you have an estate car as we do, but the cottage is lovely, in a good location. Mevagissey's quirky layout is much of it's charm, and it does have excellent secure parking in the village. Many thanks for another enjoyable holiday.

Mr McCulloch

We really enjoyed our stay at Oyster Cottage. It’s in a great location with quick access to the harbour and local pubs/restaurants, plus a good base to explore further afield. The cottage has everything you need to make yourself at home and the cream tea on arrival was very much appreciated after a long drive. Accessing the cottage by vehicle was tight but I managed in and out with my Toyota RAV4 over two weeks, so it can be done. Just take your time.

Mrs Duncan

Nice house, great location, after reading other comments about the narrow access was a bit concerned, but it was fine no trouble at all, we have a Honda Jazz if that helps.

Mrs Bentley

Oyster cottage lived up to our expectations cosy and comfortable. Fabulous location easy access to village and costal walks. Nothing not to like We were made aware access and parking is tight .. it’s not easy but very doable but glad we had small car We would definitely return to oyster cottage

Miss Oxley

Location was lovely and peaceful but only minutes easy walk to the harbour. Property spacious and had everything we needed for a good stay. Overall the cleanliness was good with a couple of minor exceptions. Garden was great for sitting out.

Mr Cogan

Beware of the parking area - it is VERY narrow and you could (like me) end up scraping your car...

Mrs Cimander

Oyster Cottage is a cosy and comfy place for a wonderful holiday. Very spacious and very quiet - and only a short stroll to the beautiful little harbour of Mevagissey. Parking with a bigger car in the courtyard is challenging - but you get used to it after a few days. Meva is a really nice place with great little shops, pubs and tea rooms. The area is great for walking, especially along the Coast Path. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back.

Mrs SMITH

Parking is a problem, although you are given a parking bay, getting through the entrance is a problem - to many people. Unloading at the entrance is not easy as it's on the bend and a hillside.

Mrs Dodson

Oyster Cottage is a comfortable home from home property. It’s location is ideal being quiet & secluded with its own garden, but the harbour front is only a two minute stroll. Plenty of restaurants within a couple of minutes of the cottage. No need to go out of the village in the evenings or get in a car-perfect ! The harbour area has many local independent shops which are lovely to browse too !

Mrs Johnson

What a great cottage! Location in Meva could not be better, such an easy walk down to the Harbour and pubs/restaurants. Brilliant to have the enclosed rear garden for our dog. Seriously, we could not fault this cottage and will definitely return. Just take it slowly with the parking, it’s really not that difficult and it’s a real bonus having parking included in the centre of Meva. Thank you, we loved it!

Mr Webb

Oyster Cottage is a clean, attractive property and within a couple of minutes walk of the harbour (although you wouldn't know it due to how peaceful it is). Vehicle entrance/exit (and parking) is not for the faint hearted, but worth it!

Mrs Garratty

The cottage was ideal for our party of four adults and two children aged 6 and 7. Plenty of space, a few minutes walk to the harbour on a flat path and a lovely garden to play in. Good location for exploring the area too.

Mrs Turnock

The cottage is really close to the centre of Mevagissey and it’s lovely to walk to the beautiful harbour and be close to the shops. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The garden was a great space for the grandchildren to play out. It was lovely to be able to eat out in the garden as we were blessed with fantastic weather. There are various opinions as to ease of car parking but our comment would be that the entrance into and out of the car park is extremely difficult to negotiate unless you have a small car.

mr emous

Very nice cottage, lots of room. Enclosed garden good for the dog, there is a nice little shortcut to the town. All rooms are nice and spacious. Bring your own duvet if you prefer feather duvets

Miss Oxley

The location and space inside the cottage are both great. The entrance to the parking is challenging - we just parked the car and walked or used the bus rather than keep moving the car in and out! There were a few issues at the start of the stay but nothing that would stop us from staying there again.

Ms Williams

Lovely cottage in a great location. Very clean and well equipped with a lovely garden. Parking space not recommended for larger cars.

Mr Stevens

My comments on access egress should be included in the description

Mr Webb

Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location. Entrance is tight (narrow) but manageable... Clean and fully equipped, would definitely visit again!!

Mr Vaughan

Perfect cottage, perfect location.

Mrs Laing

This cottage really is lovely and perfect for a family holiday. House is very well equipped and in an ideal location.

Miss Courtney

A lovely cottage with a lovely secluded garden, but all the village facilities are just a few minutes walk away. I look forward to returning!

Miss Fairbank

The first time we had visited Cornwall and had a lovely break. Would recommend cottage especially if you have a dog as a good size garden also close proximity to the pretty fishing harbour.

Mrs Kitching

Delightful cottage in a lovely small fishing village, the cottage had everything you needed. The cottage has plenty of room to comfortably house six people without being on top of each other. A great location with a two minute walk to the harbour. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend Oyster Cottage to others.

Mr York

A very clean and well appointed cottage in a beautiful but busy fishing village with plenty of local amenities.

Mrs Bridges

This is an excellent and spacious property right in the village. It couldn’t be better situated for wandering around the shops and harbour.

Mrs Pougher

Couldn't have asked for anything more. Would definitely use classic cottages again.

Mr Borrett

Booking, communication and updates were extremely efficient and made this a very easy process.

Mrs Watson

lovely cottage we will be going again but with a smaller car .

Dr Heinsoo

This cottage is just amazing! It is right in the heart of Mevagissey, which is one of the loveliest fisher villages I have ever been too, my family really enjoyed it! There are so many good seafood restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, the atmosphere there is just amazing! The cottage is really great itself too, it is equipped with everything you need, it was very clean and cozy and it has a lovely backyard! It can not get any better!

Mr Thackray

Great property in good location. Very quiet but close enough to town and pubs/restaurants etc

Mrs Pearce

Lovely spacious family cottage in an excellent location the entrance to the property is not for the faint hearted!!

Mrs Kelly

Beautiful cottage Everything you could wish for and so close to the harbour.

Mr Minogue

Thank you for providing such first class accommodation. Also for accommodating our preferred time scale. The fresh milk and beverages was a nice touch and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely return some time and re-live the Mevagissey experience.

Mrs Couch

Yes, the entrance to the car park is tight, but we expected that, thanks to excellent information provided prior to arrival. A very handy location with a level walk to the harbour as billed, which was perfect for those less mobile in our party. Love Mevagissey. Being a new build, this cottage doesn't have the charm that you can get with more traditional properties, but that is made up for by modern facilities, spacious and comfortable accommodation and many welcoming finishing touches like the huge supply of books, games, etc. We played scrabble every night, didn't even switch the TV on until the final evening and I almost finished four views of Mevagissey in jigsaw form! The holiday just wasn't quite long enough!

Mrs North

We enjoyed our stay, car parking was not as difficult as some of the rewiews suggested. At the side of the cottage is a little lane that leads into Meva without the steep hill.

Mrs Heasley

Real gem of a cottage. Everything about the property was an above expectations experience. Milk in the fridge on the first day and a box of Cornish Fairings biscuits was a really welcome touch after a long drive. A generous selection of books and board games really appreciated, we were able to have the first unrushed family game of Scrabble for years, thank you! A selection of tourist brochures and a custom-made folder with a selection of walks in Cornwall was very useful. Cannot praise this enough. And Mevagissey village itself was a total delight, with the harbour, a selection of good quality and good value for money restaurants.

Mrs Brown

The drive.

Mr Keynes

Clean and comfortable cottage in the best location in Mevagissey

Mrs Busby

Lovely cottage in an excellent location.

Mr Winkworth

Great position near harbour for artists. My husband did several small paintings

Mrs Rogan

Beautiful cottage in great location for the town and harbour. Very comfortable beds and lovely quiet location. We ditched the car and used the bus as a good service. Easy to get to Heligan and Pentewan beach.

Mr Tilley

Entrance to the road leading to the house was poor and entrance to the parking area very poor.Car was bottoming each time we went in & out

Mr Bird

The cottage was very comfortable, very well equipped and in an excellent location being close to the harbour but far enough away so not be disturbed by it. The entrance to the car park is extremely narrow, the angle of approach when exiting the car park is awkward with several cars hitting the wall during our stay. 3 series BMW and Ford Focus suffered paint damage. Audi A8 only a couple of millimetres to spare each side.

Mrs McGrath

Cottage was everything as described. Perfect location with everything you need in the cottage itself. The parking entrance was fine if you did as suggested in the details - somebody guide you in & out. We used the space 100 yards away as it made getting out of the entrance easier. We also saw a car reverse out which would potentially make it easier for others. Mevagissey is a great little location even in the winter. Would definitely recommend the cottage.

Mr Russell

Great cottage lovely position easy walk to shops restaurants and pubs. good position to access other parts of Cornwall

Mr Watts

Beautifully furnished cottage.

Mrs Redfern

Fabulous cottage ....modern , clean and very comfortable and perfectly located for cliff walks and the lost gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project ....not to mention a wander around the quirky old village of Mervagissey....brilliant !!

Mr Quartley

As always Classic Cottages exceed our expectations. We have used them several times and are very happy to continue doing so.

Mrs Birt

Lovely little town, fantastic location. Easy walk to harbour front. Easy drive to Lands End, St Ives, Falmouth, Newquay, Polperro, Fowey, Looe. Very clean comfortable cottage with all the amenities of home.

Mr Thomas

Oyster Cottage is a very comfortable and very well appointed. The access to the shops and the harbour was down a steep slope, but it was very short and it added to a sense of adventure in this delightful village. With the Gardens of Helligan and the Eden Project not too far away, we felt it was very central, yet off the beaten track.

Mr Knight

If you are looking for a cottage right in the heart of the harbour and central to most attractions this is the cottage to Stay in. First class.

Mrs Matthews

Would recommend it especially with the gentler path to & from the harbour. It is in a very handy and the harbour and centre of Mevagissey are only s few minutes walk.

Mr Madden

A really nice place well equipped and close to the village centre. Don't worry about the parking I have a large car and had no problems getting in and out. Would I stay here again yes.

Ms Langmead

Cottage was just as nice as hoped. People friendly and helpful. Will definitely use Classic Cottages again.

Mr Ellison

Oyster Cottage is fantastic! The location is marvellous (but the entrance /exit to the car park is narrow). Overall, well worth staying there.

Mrs Bennett

Lovely cottage with very nice interior and all the facilities we needed. Parking with a people carrier was not easy, very narrow. Reversing out from the lower car park was the only option. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Mr White

We have already left positive feed back in the guest book at the cottage. We could not find fault with the cottage. All of our party enjoyed the stay. It was ideally situated, being close to the harbour and also was within reach of a variety of other interesting places to visit.
