Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.
Mr Ollerton
We had an absolutely wonderful holiday at Snuggledown. The cottage had everything we could have possibly have needed and is perfectly located to explore Cornwall. Our 18 month old LOVED greeting the cows in the field opposite in the morning. Verna was so incredibly helpful and on hand to answer any questions. The garden was great for the dog too. We cannot wait to visit again.
Mrs Wiggin
This is a wonderful cottage, we loved all the windows. Very well equipped! We had a very restful 2 weeks there. The garden is fabulous and so much space our dogs loved it. If you are unlucky enough, like us, to need a vet, the recommended vet is amazing! Please feed the Robin who is so tame, come for breakfast every day!
Mrs Peart
A lovely house - perfect for a couple and a dog! The living area was spacious comfortably furnished with a wonderful outlook over the garden and surrounding fields. The garden was huge, well kept and our dog thoroughly enjoyed chasing the many rabbits! The owners were very friendly and made sure everything was perfect
Mr Heber
If you are a lover of nature, beautiful countryside and you like peace and quiet then this property is for you. As others have mentioned, the lanes leading up to it are very narrow, but in the whole of our July week we only bumped onto one other car. The cottage was spacious, had everything we needed, and the owner is lovely and made us very welcome. There are some lovely beaches nearby and local pubs serving good food. From the property you can walk down into the historic and beautiful Luxulyan Valley. The Eden Project is only 2 miles away and there are many other interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. We loved our week at Snuggledown.
Mrs Johnston
Our cottage was very spacious for 2 people and so private, comfortable and warm, in a lovely rural setting. There is the original farmhouse built in Cornish stone, where the owner lives, and the other 2 barns have been converted into holiday accommodation. The larger property, Trethevey, could sleep up to 6 people, so it would make a wonderful place for family gatherings. We explored old haunts and discovered lots of new ones and were never too far from everyday facilities. The owner was most warm and welcoming and there on hand if required, but never intrusive. We are missing her already!
Mrs Barrett
We loved our restful stay at Snuggledown, a spacious property with plenty of storage including a cloakroom area for muddy boots, wet coats and hiking sticks. Even had a seat for putting our boots on. Verna gave us a warm welcome, offered garden produce and kindly dried our wet boots by her Aga! Blackberries are in abundance for mixed fruit compote in September. The accommodation itself was a tonic to us with beautiful garden views through floor to ceiling windows and blackout curtains in the bedroom. A handy wardrobe has been added in the bedroom since the website photos. Loved exploring local beaches, quiet country lanes, Luxylan valley and ferry rides. Great to be back visiting old much loved haunts! Verna is a very lovely host and very accommodating of our needs providing additional help and advice including where to get the best Cornish Pasty!
Mr Carver
A lovely comfortable cottage with a lovely garden and in beautiful settings. Verna was so lovely and friendly. This was our third time at Snuggledown, hope to be back soon.
Mrs Fitzhenry
If you want a peaceful, relaxing stay with excellent wifi in a rural setting then Snuggledown is the place to go to. The owner Mrs Roberts was there on hand if you needed anything at all but was never intrusive in fact she was very supportive . The cottage was clean and tidy with everything you needed including plenty of hot water a very comfortable bed and good TV and mobile reception . I would certainly recommend staying there.
Mrs Smith
Lovely cottage, very comfortable. Good woodland walk and central location for travelling out and about. Dog loved chasing the squirrels and rabbits and talking to the cows in adjacent field! Not our first time there and we will be back again.
Mr Dunlop
Snuggledown was quite excellent in every way - exactly what we wanted in a peaceful location, not too far from everyday facilities. Situated with direct pedestrian access to the Luxulyan Valley World Heritage Site without having to go on the road, it is perfect for dog owners with well-behaved pets. Even in winter, it is light and airy, with lovely rural views. The cottage was comfortable and immaculately presented, and our reception was warm and welcoming. We recommend it highly and hope to return ourselves.
Mrs Recktenwald-Oepen
We had a very nice 14 day stay in Snuggledown and enjoyed the time there very much. The cottage is very well equipped and we were very well looked after by the helpful owner. Snuggledown is ideal as a starting point for trips to the surrounding area and to the beaches. However, the narrow streets to the cottage need to get used to. All in all highly recommended.
Mr McCall
The property is in a most idyllic quiet rural area and there are lovely walks straight from the property into the surrounding countryside and woodland areas. A wonderfully, peaceful retreat and yet within easy reach of the coast and all that that offers.
Mrs Shilton
I was so lucky with warm sunshine all week, so really enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden - so peaceful and relaxing, watching bunnies in the garden, the cows beyond the fence and often no sound apart from birdsong and the occasional moo! The large windows in the bedroom too were a delight for morning tea in bed. Cottage was spacious and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. The bathroom was clean and warm with constant hot water. The water is from a spring so very soft too. The drive to/from the main road is a mile through narrow lanes (from A390) - keep an eye out for the passing places - but I didn't meet any traffic all week. Probably not that good for a low-slung or wide car but this time of year, lined with bluebells, campions and wild garlic. A trip to Fowey - I'd suggest parking in the main car park at the top of the hill and getting the shuttle bus into the village; £1 down the hill and £2 back up again! Lovely village with lots of cute shops. Truro - recommend the park & ride which is well signposted and easy to use - £2.20 pay on the bus. Next to the Tregurra car park is a Waitrose and next to that is a shop selling Cornish and local produce with a good fresh fish section. Big thank you to host, Verna, who was very helpful, friendly and kind and a mine of local information.
Mrs Seehra
Lovely light airy living area with very comfortable chairs for sitting in and enjoying the views. With the large windows right to the ground, we were also able to experience the views from the bedroom (really nice to wake up and enjoy that cuppa in bed!) The hall area, just inside the front door, was very useful for hanging coats, drying wellies (we hit some rainy weather!) and was well-stocked with practical storage baskets.
Mrs Lloyd
We loved the location of this cottage, right next to a wonderful woodland walk Property was warm and comfortable, the owner , Verner, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, we felt like firm friends immediately. Access to the property was down quite a narrow lane but after a couple of days we were more confident. A nearby pub in a gorgeous village was handy and only a few minutes' drive away. We loved our entire holiday
Mrs Gough
The name says it all, a late September holiday and looking out of the full height windows you can watch nature all day, there is a footpath through the woods, which was a bit overgrown (end of season) so didn't manage the full walk. A gorgeous modern barn conversion that retains thick walls and beams. Facilities include dish washer and washing machine, WiFi worked well with sky (only Freeview available to us) and dvd player The lovely lady owner is on hand if any problems and once you figured out the journey the local pub in Luxulyan serves delicious home cooked food and very recommendable
Miss French
Had a fabulous weeks holiday staying at Snuggledown. Perfectly positioned and a lovely cosy cottage. Will be recommending and hopefully staying again in the future.
Mrs Habibi
Snuggledown Cottage, Par is a delightful place to stay. Very peaceful in the heart of rural Cornwall. The drive to the cottage through country lanes is narrow. If you have a very smart car maybe not advisable. I would go back there now if I could. Spacious for two people, beautifully put together. I hope I may go again one day with my husband.
Ms Henry
The owner was absolutely lovely and the cottage was immaculate. There was milk in the fridge, biscuits, bottle of wine and cleaning stuff too! Lovely large garden area and lots of parking. We had a fabulous time.
Mrs Trevarthen
Snuggledown is a really well equipped, well thought out little place in a very peaceful and beautiful part of Cornwall. The owner is lovely; really friendly and helpful but also nicely unobtrusive. It is a great location for visiting sites all around the county but the approach lanes to the property are very narrow, even for Cornish lanes, so stock up in advance so you can relax once you arrive. Be prepared for some exciting manoeuvres if you meet another car but don't worry too much as this rarely happens - I only met one during a week long stay. There are some amazing walks from the doorstep so if you like walking, or want some new running routes, then this place is just perfect.
Mrs Topham
Beautiful views and lovely woodland walk straight from the cottage. Perfect for a holiday with dogs.
Mr Osinski
Snuggledown is a very nice well maintained property with wonderful views across open countryside and an excellent friendly owner (Verna ). Unfortunately the recommended route to the property given by classic cottages did not explain that it is only suitable for small cars, my holiday was spoilt by the damage caused to the paintwork on both sides of my car by thick bramble bushes that stick out into the road. A better alternative route is available which the owner made us aware of once she saw the damage to my car. The low rating reflects the damage to my car which could have been avoided.
Mrs Hickery
Excellent place to stay for our holiday with lovely surrounding countryside and lots of wildlife and walking.
Mrs Anderson
Snuggledown is a cosy, but light-filled country retreat. It is within reach of the sea as well. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The host, Verna, was very welcoming and providing us with milk, tea and coffee, as well as wine and biscuits for our arrival was much appreciated.
Miss Gray
Lovely cottage, with wonderful views in a wonderful setting and with a truly wonderful host.
Mrs Weeks
Snuggledown is a lovely little cottage, with some nice woodland walks close by, there are plenty of places to visit within the local area. The owner Verna is very friendly and provided a nice welcome with wine, biscuits and milk.
Mrs Poolman
Clean and tidy property with all needs catered for. Very quiet and peaceful.
Mrs Metcalfe
As on our previous visit we were so well looked after by Verna (Roberts) and really felt at home. It is the perfect location for real peace and quiet (not to mention clear night sky) and we felt very relaxed after our stay. An added bonus for us is that it is close to old haunts as my parents lived and are buried in the nearby village of Luxulyan, so we know the area really well, and still have other family in the area.
Mrs Smith
This is a beautiful cottage, perfect for those who just want to switch off and enjoy the countryside and peace and quiet. At the same time it also central to many beautiful places you can visit if you wish. Lovely walks without needing to go in the car at all, even heard owls at night! We will definitely be back.
Mrs Dover-Brown
We spent a week at Snuggledown for our honeymoon and loved it. A bottle of wine & lovely biscuits were waiting for us, however once Verna ( the owner) knew we were newleyweds she popped in with another bottle of Prosecco!!! Snuggledown is very appropriately named !! Incredibly peaceful, very clean, beautiful views over the valley and the bed was so comfortable we have returned home and ordered a new mattress!!! Thank you Verna for making our honeymoon memorable in many ways. Looking to book with family for next year. We thoroughly recommend Snuggledown ?? xx
Mrs Walker
I can highly recommend this cottage, it is very comfy, spacious but cosy at the same time. It is perfectly located for a variety of attractions and is also near to the coast. What more could you want.
Miss Vizard
Verna was a fabulous host - very kind and warm and welcoming. The house was fabulous and had everything we needed and more!! Brilliant location - couldn't have been a more perfect place to stay!!
Mrs Stevens
We loved our time at Snuggledown. Verna was lovely and welcoming. It was perfect for us. Only one suggestion in that a couple of sun loungers would have been a lot more comfortable for sitting out in the courtyard. After a while the plastic chairs were just too uncomfortable.
Mrs Marlow
We had an excellent week at Snuggledown, with a warm welcome from Verna. The cottage is very conveniently located for visiting Fowey, the Eden Project, Lanhydrock etc. So many great walks in the area, including the coastal path and through the woods to the Luxulyan Valley - an ideal location for walkers.
Mrs Metcalfe
This is the perfect cottage in which to unwind and be totally comfortable, away from the crowds, but near our favourite places if we wanted to go beyond local walks. It is a really special place, in a beautiful, unspoilt and little known area. Verna is an exceptional owner, with nothing too much trouble, and we hope to return before too long.
Mrs Cottam
A lovely cottage in super quiet peaceful surroundings. Great for local walks. Very well furnished and adapted. Light and airy ambience. Great to sit outside in garden. Owner very helpful.
Miss Pallett
We loved our time at snuggledown! We got engaged during our stay and the owner gave us some wine which was lovely. The sofas were super comfy which is great after a long day. The drive to the cottage itsself is very tight but we didn't mind. Would recommend snuggledown to others.
Mr Ashman
If you are precious about your car, and it is quite large, the mile long drive down to the cottage is exceedingly narrow and rubbed down both sides of our car. It didn’t damage it but sounded like might.
Mr Clayton
Cottage is comfortable and the owner (Verna) is very friendly. The garden is well kept & could be shared with customers of the owner’s larger cottage behind Snuggledown. Although, areas are enclosed from the fields, there is a gate to the owners’ that is mainly open that dogs can get into the lane/roads. Verna offered to close it when our dog escaped but all visitors (gardeners etc) leave it open: it was only closed once our stay so we used a long line lead to keep our dog safe. The car parking is in the garden for both rental properties. We hadn’t fully understood that the route to the cottage would be such a difficult drive along high hedgerow, one car width roads. Both sides of our car was subjected to grazing. Verna did tell us about a ‘slightly’ wider road in & out to the cottage on arrival. The isolation of the cottage has advantages of peacefulness but DO take main provisions for arrival as although the cottage had tea, coffee, biscuits & bottle of wine…We had overlooked milk so had to head back through the tight lane/road to find a shop in Blazey. Not much there but the garage had milk! Ask Verna for secateurs if you take the gate through to the woods as it’s very overgrown & difficult to access the wonderful aqua duct - woods via this stretch. We had great weather so managed to dry washing on the outside line but with only one bottom bed sheet & one set of towels supplied, it could be difficult to launder & be in use in one day, in poor weather. However, I’m sure Verna , who lives in the same grounds as Snuggledown, would be able to give you further bedding if you ask. There is a brush & hoover supplied but nothing to clean/wash the floor. If you take a dog, you’ll have to ensure paws are washed & dried outside. There is an odd/random cream sofa placed in the corner of the room where the photos show the dining table. We assume the room furniture has been updated as the grey sofa & chair are not shown in the photos. Wardrobe space is in the door entrance area opposite the bathroom: no hanging space in the bedroom. We enjoyed our week at the cottage but the drive to & from it to explore the area was off- putting. Highly recommend the woodland walk by the aqua duct: turn left from snuggledown and follow the road to the car park and walk left or access via the overgrown lane at the side of the cottage via a gate.
Mrs Holland
A very quiet peaceful rural location, but accessible to many interesting Cornish towns and places of interest. A cosy and comfortable place to stay.
Mrs Chapman

The owner and her daughter are the loveliest of people and made myself and my dogs very welcome. The most exquisite home baked scones, with home made blackcurrant preserve awaited , along with beautiful flowers everywhere. Area convenient for so many places , whether moors or beaches and some lovely ancient towns are nearby. I cannot rate Snugledown and the owners highly enough.
Mrs Chapman
I would highly recommend this property to any wishing for a relaxed and comfortable holiday in Cornwall. Brilliantly situated to visit a whole host of attractions. In a word wonderful
Ms Baker
Sniggledown is a wonderful holiday home that has the feel of a cottage yet the natural light and space of a modern apartment. Those enjoying woodland walks are in for a real treat as you can set off from the cottage without jumping into the car. In the spring, the blankets of bluebells are truly stunning. The only interruption at Snuggledown is from a small herd of very nosey bullocks who line up at the garden fence waiting to be entertained.
Mrs Watson
A very cosy cottage in a most fabulous location if you like walking! A really lovely owner too.
Mr Justins

Mrs Coles
We had a wonderful holiday - we have been to Trethevey twice before, both times to the big cottage, with family, this time we were on our own with the dogs. Snuggledown is an extremely comfortable cottage with a wonderfully peaceful, almost serene atmosphere, just perfect to unwind and re-charge your batteries. We had some awful weather, very windy with rain coming down in sheets, but the cottage stayed warm and we felt very cosy and relaxed. Thanks to Verna and Kay for making this little slice of heaven available to us.
Mr Irving
Would definitely visit again, owners are lovely and brilliant location for a dog as woodland walks right on doorstep and garden is lovely too.
Mr Rutter
Good central location for exploring Cornwall. The cottage is light and airy with great views of the countryside beyond the garden. Owner is welcoming and very helpful. Single track road for about a mile to the cottage, but don't be put off - the peace and tranquility are worth it.
