Reviews

A picturesque cottage set in an idyllic location close to the banks of Restronguet Creek. This 17th Century Grade II Listed cottage is full of warmth and charm, and has an abundance of quirky features such as low doorways and wonky floors making it feel like a bit of a fairy-tale holiday.

Chyvounder in Cornish means "house by the lane", this charming cottage is found through verdant countryside in a stunning location. Ducking through the front door into the hall you will find the warm and light kitchen/diner on your left with an oil-fired Rayburn which ensures the cottage stays cosy all year. Enjoy long breakfasts at the farmhouse-style table planning the day's adventure and then retreating back here to this comfortable space. The sitting-room has a lovely stunning inglenook fireplace with a wood-burner which is wonderful for those wet and cosy nights together, perhaps enjoy a board game or watch your favourite film together using the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Upstairs (please mind your head on the stairs) you will find the three lovely bedrooms that all overlook the sunny and sheltered garden. The main bedroom has a luxurious king-size bed, stretch out and enjoy your morning tea in bed. There is also a large twin bedroom which can also be made up as a super king and a single bedroom, making this cottage perfect for friends and family alike. The family bathroom is found on the ground floor along with a handy utility space too which is perfect for muddy wellies or sandy shoes.

Outside you have oodles of room; there is a pretty, walled garden which catches the sun most of the day and is the ideal spot for long lunches or evening barbecues and for your four-legged friend to enjoy too. There is also a large lawned area where you park the cars which is perfect for a game of badminton or handy for boats or other water sport equipment to be kept for your stay. Despite Chyvounder having been built centuries ago the cottage boasts superfast broadband with good speeds so ideal for streaming or working if needs be.

Chyvounder is located on a working farm and shares this location with the adjoining cottage Chybean (5116). This is ideal should you want to holiday with your extended family or group of friends. If you love the water this is the perfect place for you, the owners are able to offer by separate arrangement (on availability) a mooring which is only 300 yards from the property and boat storage and there is also handy launching very nearby and at Mylor Harbour too.

Mr Shepherd

Lovely place, with large kitchen and big bedrooms. Comfortable double sofas with log burner and free wood. Beautiful local walks and stores at Mylor within walking distance.

Mrs Barrett

We had a relaxing 5 nights in the cottage and it felt quite homely. Couldn’t believe the silence at night, only an owl to be heard. Clean and comfy cottage with a large secure garden for our small dog to wander in. Nice big kitchen to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in listening to the radio. Used our time in Cornwall to visit Truro, Falmouth, St Ives and Flushing. Had a very fab time. Thanks for having us!

Mrs Upchurch

We enjoyed our stay at Chyvounder. It's a lovely warm, cosy & comfortable cottage and we had a very relaxing & enjoyable few days, we just wished that we could have stayed longer. We liked, especially, that we were able to shop locally by taking a short walk across the fields to Mylor village and find all the grocery items we required plus fresh fish & a butcher's shop too. Lovely walks along the coast path, almost from the doorstep - fabulous.

Mr Breeden
