Southleigh House
For those seeking a very special country retreat that's oh-so-close to the crystal clear waters and sheltered beaches of Cornwall's south coast, then look no further than Southleigh House. Nestled at the end of a country lane with peace and tranquility in abundance, this much loved home is packed full of charm and character and has many wonderful features. With a large garden, two toasty wood-burners, plenty of space for relaxing and entertaining, dog friendly and within walking distance of the world renowned Eden Project, this is a very special place where cherished holiday memories will be created and once here, we are sure you won't want to leave.
Start your day with holiday breakfasts served up in the country-style kitchen/dining-room, overlooking the garden. Complete with walk-in pantry and a beautiful Aga (an electric cooker is also provided) it is the epitome of country living and on warmer days you may prefer to take a leisurely breakfast on the terrace, soaking up the morning sunshine, watching the bird and wildlife come and go; it might delay your plans for the day but hey, chill out, you are on holiday. The conservatory takes pride of place at the front of the house, a fabulous room that really brings the outside in, with a large dining-table and snuggly sofas surrounding that all-important wood-burner and if you want some quiet time, why not curl up with a good book in the sitting-room, there's quite a selection on offer.
There are four lovely bedrooms to choose from, all decorated with a romantic feel and beds dressed in luscious linens and charming bedspreads to ensure a blissful night's sleep.
The garden is an absolute joy, providing lots of al fresco space for you all to spread out, with carefully considered 'wild garden' areas to encourage wild and birdlife. You are sure to while away many an hour on the sunny terrace, have adventures in the wooded area, enjoy ball games on the lawn, pick fresh vegetables for your dinner from the vegetable patch, look out for the barn and tawny owls who make this place their home or take an evening sundowner up to the viewing platform and take in the panoramic views over the open countryside out to the blue waters of St Austell Bay in one direction and glimpses of the biomes at The Eden Project in the other, it's quite a spot!

Mrs Trevis
Wonderful, well equipped house with everything required for a fun-filled family holiday in Cornwall. Key beaches are only a short drive away and the Eden Project and Charlestown very close.
Mrs King
Southleigh House is an amazing holiday home, it is so peaceful and within easy reach of attractions and beaches. It is accessed via what seemed to be a short well maintained private road which was easily big enough to get a VW Transporter van down, so no access problems. The house is very well equipped, the kitchen has everything you could want. The furniture was very comfortable and supportive, and the bed was so comfortable, no boingy springs to be found here, it is amazing. The garden is lovely and the dog enjoyed it. The Eden Project domes are visible from the wooden viewing platform at the bottom of the garden.
Miss Mansell
This is a beautiful cottage with everything inside it that you could ever possibly need. The gardens are absolutely enchanting, we loved seeing and listening to the huge array of birds that came to visit. And the intelligent squirrels that invented games with themselves! The location is perfect because it isn't far from many locations such as Par Sands, Charlestown, Porthpean beach, Mevagissey, Cardinham Woods. The owners are very helpful and we have been with Classic Cottages for many years, we would say this is the best cottage/house that we have been to.
Mrs Marshall-Taylor
This is a wonderful place for a family gathering. We loved the garden and all the different seating areas for the family to gather. If the weather’s not so good the wood burners and abundant firewood make for a cosy time indoors, and the table football provides many evenings of competitive fun! You don’t have to travel far to find a beautiful beach or cove, perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. All in all the perfect setting for a wonderful holiday :)
Mrs IJsselsteijn
We had such a wonderful week at Southleigh house: the house was beautiful, spacious and super comfortable with the conservatory as our favorite indoor space (lovely comfy nook with fireplace but also large table for table top games and even ping pong) but the family kitchen, fussball/playroom and television/ living room were also much appreciated. The garden is huge and mesmerizingly beautiful with a lawn, Hidden vegetable garden, secret pathways, a fireplace and an observation tower. Views to the ocean from the garden invite you to the beaches and lovely harbour towns. And the owners and little sock- snatching Charlie the dog were ever so welcoming and helpful. A place to keep coming back to!
Mrs Eccles
This generous house allowed for 2 families to stay together with their dogs and enjoy each others company. The garden, kitchen, conservatory, living room and games room all offer spaces to be relaxed, come together and be on ones own to read or watch the world go by.
Mr Panton
Lovely home, with a number of living spaces each with its own appeal. Gardens and birdlife were also amazing and the weather could not have been better. Overall we had a excellent family get together that exceeded my expectations. Would recommend Southleigh House
Mrs Shorthouse
Conservatory area was a great bonus - very spacious and beautifully decorated for Easter. Easter goodies and the welcome basket were also hugely appreciated, alongside beautiful fresh flowers. The house itself was super for what we needed, and for the dog too, it was very comfortable and included everything you would need for a home from home break away, with added luxurious touches. The weather was not particularly kind, so we made good use of the wood burners and Aga. Property is in a super location - you feel in the middle of the beautiful and peaceful countryside, but within easy access of all the notable tourist attractions. Heligan was particularly spectacular. Again, the hosts were great and very helpful - and an added bonus… it’s not too remote to have food delivered!
Mrs Trevis
Our family of 6 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this exceptional cottage. The large garden was secure for the dogs and indoor/outdoor toys were provided for our 4-year old to enjoy. The log burners were much appreciated with a large wood store available for our use. The little touches of toiletries, Welcome pack and the Aga to cook with, all added to an excellent October holiday.
Mrs Connaughton
We just had the most wonderful week staying here. Our multi aged group were all comfortable and relaxed with plenty of space to spread out or be together. The garden was interesting and spacious. The location great and the views were beautiful. Sarah and Robin were the most charming hosts. We hope to return one day!
Miss Mitas
This house, contents and its gardens were amazing. Relaxing and quiet, our dog loved it. Just what we wanted and needed. A real jewel in the crown and near to local attractions and beaches. If you want to get away from it all, this is the right place.
Mrs Murray
A wonderful holiday home, the best we have found in Cornwall to date. Exceptionally peaceful without being too far off the beaten track, and within easy reach of a wide range of attractions and beaches. The house itself was well equipped and comfortable with many personal touches. A huge variety of birds and other wildlife in the garden. We hope to return!
Mr Seymour
Fantastic property in a truly rural location with easy access to main routes.
Mrs Moore
We had a wonderful time at Southleigh House. It was ‘home from home’! Comfy beds, all the equipment we needed and a lovely atmosphere. The hosts Sarah and Robin were very friendly - the wonderful atmosphere in the cottage was a reflection of their welcome.
Mrs Ivory
Enjoyed our stay at Southleigh house made to feel very welcome by the owners. House was tidy and clean with a well equipped kitchen. Loved the extra details of welcoming scones, cream milk, eggs. a fresh loaf even a bottle of wine. Dogs also made welcome with treats etc.The dogs loved exploring the garden and discovering the woodlands next to the house. Very comfortable beds and pillows slept like a log as very quiet secluded property. The week flew by felt very chilled and relaxed week away. Would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. Thank you Sarah and Robin for sharing your fabulous property with us.
Mrs Tough
Lovely place. Just what we wanted as it suited our three generation party. Plenty of wildlife for the little ones, activities nearby, a supermarket and a proper pub!
Mr Littlewood
Lovely property and hosts. Great location to explore Cornwall. Property is very well equipped and comfortable. Would stay again. If you are 6' tall be prepared for the low doorways upstairs.
Miss Cook
I appreciated that the hosts didn't make me wait until 4 pm to check in! I was coming from another Classic Cottage that asked me to leave at 10 am, and so would've been wandering aimlessly for longer, but when I drove by early to check out the property Robin came out to my car (I hadn't knocked or anything) and just offered to provide access at 2 pm, which was nice! Robin and Sara were also nice enough to just take the initiative to go out looking for my small dog when they caught view of him escaping along their hedges. They walked through the muddy fields to help me find him, which was above and beyond! They both seemed to want to be genuinely responsive and friendly.
