Magnolia Cottage
Nestled opposite a charming magnolia tree, this delightful stone cottage is peaceful and welcoming. All on one level (apart from one step up from the porch), Magnolia Cottage offers the best of both worlds; bright, spacious rooms that still retain a cosy country feel. From the moment you arrive in the pretty setting, you are sure to feel relaxed and ready for your Somerset holiday.
With windows on three sides, the sitting-room floods with light throughout the day and when the evenings draw in, light up the wood-burner and choose a comfy spot on the sofa to curl up with a good book. Cooking up holiday meals will be a treat in the well-equipped kitchen or if you fancy a night off then head to the local pub, The Redan Inn, serving seasonal pub classics.
The bedrooms, in which to rest your sleepy head after a busy day exploring, are superbly comfortable. Breakfast in bed is a must in the main bedroom, where there are pretty views of the courtyard. The second twin bedroom has the flexibility to be set up as a double on request.
Outside, the attractive setting of Magnolia Cottage is evident and we are sure you will enjoy the beautiful colours in the rose-filled garden. Your private, enclosed courtyard is a perfect spot for your morning coffee or afternoon tipple. As well as the courtyard, there is an area of lawn where you are welcome to sit – your four-legged friends are sure to explore this area too. All of the outside area is enclosed providing the white entrance gate is shut, however please do keep an eye on children and dogs, as beyond the white gate is a lane.
The friendly and welcoming owners live in the house just across the driveway; close enough to be on hand if you need them, however you are assured of your privacy.

Mr Waters
Excellent village location with local walks. Easy reach of Wells and Bath and numerous other local attractions.
Mr Rush
This is the best holiday cottage we've rented in the UK. Beverley was very friendly and helpful. The information folder was the very detailed and useful. Chilcompton is in a lovely part of the world.
Mr Kimber
Magnolia Cottage might just be the most spacious and comfortable cottage we have stayed in. There was a well-equipped kitchen, a comfy bed and a cosy lounge with a woodburning stove. The cottage is ideal for dogs and there are plenty of good walks from the front door. It's an excellent location for exploring the Mendips.
Mr Winters
Beverly the owner was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was really nice and good location for visiting various attractions but did not get to everything we wanted. We would recommend Kilver Court Garden for a stop. Very unusual place to have a garden but we think worth it. Look forward to going back.
Mr Jones
Comfortable, spacious, well-appointed cottage. Close to Bath, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and other North Somerset places of interest.
Mr WATSON
Beautiful, well equipped property, lovely area to explore, owners seemed very friendly, but once meet and greet was over we were left alone, would not hesitate to recommend.
Mr Adams
We enjoyed our stay very much at Magnolia Cottage. Very nice owners who have a lovely cottage which is well appointed and in a good location for getting out and about. Wells and Bath aren't too far away and there are plenty of places to visit within an hour's drive. Particularly enjoyed Stourhead but there are other NT properties in the area as well. Highly recommend a stay here .
Mr Claridge
Excellent holiday cottage. All you could wish for.
Mrs Swan
Magnolia Cottage is a real country gem. The Cottage is ideally situated to explore Somerset and close to many great eateries such as Holy Cow, The Litton and the Compton Inn. The host Bev was a mine of information at the same time leaving us to have a quiet undisturbed holiday. Some less agile people may find using the shower over the bath an issue but this situation of climbing over the bath sill is very common in England and we mastered it fairly quickly. We highly recommend Magnolia Cottage as the perfect holiday base.
Mrs Levett
We had a wonderful stay at Magnolia cottage. Every thing was perfect and Chilcompton is a wonderful place and so pretty. Will book again in a heartbeat!
Mrs Fry
Would highly recommend if staying in Somerset
Mr Slim
Beautiful cottage. So peaceful and relaxing to stay here. The view over the garden was gorgeous. Hosts very helpful and welcoming. Complete privacy for us and our elderly Jack Russell dog. The small enclosure in the courtyard was brilliant for her. A lot of great sightseeing, good dining and walking opportunities nearby. Would definitely be happy to return.
Mrs Christer
Lovely spacious and light filled property in a beautiful location. Plenty of outdoor space in which to enjoy the garden. The cottage is very central to places of interest in Somerset. Friendly and very helpful hosts.
Mr Townsend
Cottage accommodation that was, for us, exactly what we hoped - warm, inviting, homely, one level, impeccably clean, a loved and cared-for home - we could begin our holiday from minute one-:)
Revd. Short
Magnolia Cottage is delightful cottage in a very lovely area. The owners, Bev and Nick, live on site and made themselves available to help in any way if needed, but without ever being intrusive. The cottage itself is well equipped and cosy - the log burner was lovely on a chilly evening, although the central heating works fine. We enjoyed the large TV and its included access to Netflix, as well as the very effective free wifi. And there are lots of books available to read (fiction and non-fiction). We would very happily return here for another week - there is no shortage of things to do nearby.
Mrs Prince
Excellent cottage in a good area for getting out and about. Owner very friendly and helpful.
Mrs Tucker
What an amazing cottage and location. There is nothing negative to say about this holiday, other than I wish we were there longer! The owners made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Mr Mills
A beautiful, comfortable cottage in a peaceful village. Safe and secure for our two dogs, with plenty of room for them to run around and enjoy the sunshine (something other cottages promise but don't always deliver). A warm welcome all round. Will be coming back here.
Mrs Tymms
We loved the cottage and the proprietor was very welcoming and not intrusive. The village is well located for sight seeing. It was exceptionally clean. Its really well equipped with cooking items. Lovely sunny patio and a nice small area of grass to sit also.
Mrs Gibson
A lovely clean and comfortable cottage which we would consider staying in again. The nearby road was a bit noisy during rush hour but generally didn't spoil our stay. The location is good for visiting lots of places in Somerset. However we struggled to find more than one place to eat an evening meal out without driving.
Mrs Willson
Magnolia Cottage is one of the best places we have rented over the last 40 odd years. There is everything one would want. We went in April when the weather was still a bit chilly but the cottage was warm throughout. All rooms are of a good size and the furnishings are excellent. The welcome book is well written and set out and there are plenty of regional maps supplied. The owners, Beverley and Nick, are good hosts and very friendly. One other plus is the hourly bus service to Wells and Bath - especially for bus pass holders! Both cities can be reached in about 40 minutes by bus and, of course, there are no concerns regarding car parking. We highly recommend Magnolia Cottage to all.
Mrs Betteridge
A gem! In a perfect location for visiting the Mendip Hills, Wells, Glastonbury, Bath and Frome plus a host of attractions in the area.
Mrs Roters-Mitchell
Cottage was spacious but homely & comfortable. Well equipped for our needs. Good location for access to attractions & towns. All main supermarkets within a few minutes ride from the cottage. Beautiful view from the patio garden. We did not need the woodburner ,but would be nice when the weather is colder. Very friendly village where locals will stop & talk &assist you if you need help. A property we would definitely recommend &one we will earmark to visit again.
Mrs Ainsley
An excellent spacious and very well equipped cottage.
Mrs Saunders
Magnolia Cottage is a wonderful place to stay, we would recommend it to anyone.
Mrs Atkins-Linnell
Can’t recommend this cottage highly enough! It’s spacious yet cosy. Really comfy beds. Better even than in the photos. Beautiful location near owner’s cottage but not overlooked by them. They are really friendly and introduced themselves. You can sit outside the front of the cottage unoverlooked on a little patio, or there are 2 areas of lawn with pretty fliers and shrubs to sit on. It’s in like a courtyard and you shut the big gate so your dog is safe. 2 pubs in the village. We recommend Somerset Wagon. Also the fab “ Holy Cow” 2 mins in car or walk. Gorgeous breakfast and lunch sit inside or outside overlooking fields and church! The Coop is only 5 mins drive away for groceries etc. lots of lovely places within a 30 min drive including Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Wokey Hole Caves. Also we drove to Sand Bay beach (50 mins drive) which is near Weston Super Mare ( sorry not for us!) which is a beautiful big unspoilt beach. Not many people went even in August on a hot day as think people don’t know about it. Toilets and parking. Fish and chips and icecream few mins away. Our first visit to Somerset and won’t be our last! Our 12 and 16 year old boys and our dog loved it too!
Mr Waters
Magnolia Cottage was perfect for our stay. Parking area was excellent. Cottage bright and plenty of space, Comfy bed. Everything you needed was available. Cottage privacy was very good, but Bev was available if needed. Redan Inn good and Holy Cow tea room with lovely view of church, both within walking distance. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.
Mr Cotton
Beautiful setting close to many attractions to visit. Cottage had everything you could possibly need and more; extremely comfortable and clean. Lovely friendly owners next door if needed.
Mrs Bunn
A lovely place to stay with lots of interesting places to visit within a short drive away. Cottage is cosy ,well equipped and spacious. Being all on one level it was perfect for my elderly mother.
Mr Cordell
Wonderful garden to enjoy while sitting out.
Mr Burgess
Magnolia Cottage was everything and more than we expected. It was comfortable, well equiped, beautifully furnished and in a lovely setting. BUT even more than the beautiful cottage was the exceptional kindness of our hosts Beverley and Nick. We had special requirements because of our severley disabled daughter and with no fuss and making us not feel a nuisance they helped. This made our holiday very special and one to remember.
Mr Goodwin
We’ve had a wonderful comfortable and homely stay. What a lovely spotlessly clean and well equipped cottage, such kind hosts most friendly and accommodating thanks for the loan of a night light and for the flour.. We enjoyed Somerset very much visiting all the places mentioned by others and in the cottage guidebook, we did discover the Somerset Boat Centre and hired paddle boards and kayaks, even the dog had a ride and a swim along the canal. We can recommend an outstanding dog friendly pub called The Litton near Wells. Sad to be leaving Nick and Bev, you have a beautiful home, gardens and guest cottage. Thanks for having us.
Mr Eason
This cottage is in a perfect location for the many attractions around Somerset and surrounding areas
MRS HARLAND
WHAT CAN I SAY ON THE WAY DOWN TO THE COTTAGE WE WERE WONDERING IF IT WOULD BE AS GOOD AS THE PICTURES WELL IT WAS EVEN BETTER I JUST LOVED THE LOCATION QUIET EASY TO GET EVERYWHERE, BATH, BRISTOL CLARKS VILLAGE ALL WITHIN EASY REACH THE COTTAGE IS CLEAN WELL EQUIPPED EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY WANT THE OWNERS WERE GREAT ANYTHING YOU WANTED THEY WOULD HELP YOU WITH, NEVER BOTHERED US WE WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK IF YOU ARE THINKING OF GOING THERE PLEASE DO YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
Mr Tite
Magnolia Cottage was a delight. The rooms are far more spacious and well-equipped than the photos indicate. The beds and sofas are comfortable and inviting. The kitchen is more than adequately equipped to enable you to cook full meals and do the laundry. The heating is effective and easy to use. Our hosts, Beverley and Nick, were friendly and responsive when needed, but otherwise invisible. The location of the cottage makes it easy to reach Wells, Frome, Glastonbury, RSPB Ham Wall, Bath & Bristol; each within 30 minutes. There is a Co-Op in the village and three supermarkets within 3 miles. Overall we had a very enjoyable, comfortable, relaxing week here. I would recommend it to anyone.
Mr Hall
Magnolia Cottage was a great find, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable, especially the beds. Although located within the grounds of the owners' home there is still peace and privacy with your own courtyard and lawned area, enclosed and safe for dogs. Chilcompton with a shop and pub is a lovely village with lots of walks on the doorstep, and many interesting areas to explore within a short drive including Wells, Glastonbury, Somerset levels nature reserves. Will definitely consider staying again. Chris H
Mrs Hutchings
We were welcomed by Bev on arrival she was there if needed but left us alone to relax the cottage is in a lovely quiet spot but it is easy to get about the county and see a bit of Somerset make sure you go to the Holy Cow for breakfast the smoked salmon and eggs was a very special treat.
dr laurence
Excellent location for visiting interesting sights. Quiet, clean and comfortable property with a small garden and pleasant outlook.
Mrs Wigston
We enjoyed a lovely break here and will hope to return again. Coinciding with a family birthday we took in a couple of local gardens and also saw some filming of a costume drama at Wells Cathedral. Beverley was an excellent host and everything was clean, tasteful and comfortable. The garden was in full bloom and there are local pubs, coffee shops and walks a plenty. Book in good time as this will be a popular spot!
