Meadowbank
In the perfect situation on the edge of the rugged Exmoor National Park and on the stunning West Somerset coastline, Meadowbank is a stylish and beautiful home from which to explore the local area.
In the summer you can sit on the patio enjoying views over Exmoor, Porlock Recreation Ground and beyond to the sea; take a cup of tea whilst planning your days exploring. The open plan kitchen/dining-room is a space that all the family can enjoy; from taking breakfast together or an evening spent catching up over dinner. The sitting-room is a place to cosy up in, on those autumn nights in front of the fire, although you may be hustling with your four-legged family member for the best spot!
On the first floor there are three light and airy bedrooms, all with sea and moor views and a modern family bathroom. In addition to the main bathroom, there is also a useful utility/shower-room. Meadowbank has been sympathetically furnished and reflects the character of the house.
Stairs take you to the second floor, where the last bedroom is nestled in the eaves with sea views (please be careful as some areas have limited headspace). From this bedroom, is an en suite shower-room.
Outside, the garden is split level; from the patio there are two sets of steep steps down to the lawn. Please be careful when using the steps; children and dogs should be supervised. You can directly access the recreation ground through a gate at the bottom of the garden; this five acre site includes a children's play area, football pitches and tennis courts, which are free to use; the space is also a fantastic spot for your dog to stretch their legs. From the house you can walk straight onto Exmoor National Park, it's a bit of a climb but will be worth it for the views! This area of the county is undoubtedly a walker's paradise. Beautiful and unique Portlock Marsh and Bossington Bay are just a short walk away.

Mrs Adams
We stayed for a wet and windy weekend in November. Despite the inhospitable weather we felt very cosy and comfortable at Meadowbank. Beautifully and sympathetically restored, this building provided plenty of space for a family with two older teens who enjoyed having their own space, and our springer spaniel who just enjoys holidays! This felt like a very Famous Five kind of house, a perfect base for adventures into Exmoor. Would definitely return.
Ms Airley
We instantly felt at home at Meadowbank - it has such a lovely feel about it. Absolutely loved our time there & would very happily return.
Miss Morris
Meadowbank is one of those magical places you come across so rarely. We found it by accident. A very happy little accident that gave us lots of lovely memories in a unique place we called 'home' for a week. We loved it all from the moment we stepped through the front door. From the beautifully bold movie posters to the mid-century artwork that adorns the bright, white walls... The big, old, wooden kitchen table and mismatched chairs, the brass taps and bathroom radiators and funky table lamps. With pretty cushions on comfy sofas, and pebbles, lots of pebbles sitting proudly on garden walls, over fireplaces and windowsills to remind you that the sea is just a hop, skip and a jump away. The view from the gorgeous windows on every floor stop you in your tracks. Not only is it wonderfully light and airy in the house, but it was a joy to wake up and see a valley of neatly mown green grass and tree-loaded hills, thatched rooftops and chimney stacks...and a glimpse of the sea from almost every window. Just perfect. The patio was amazing, too. We love a huge patio, and Meadowbank's deck beckons you outside... It's great for reading a book amongst the greenery, sharing a drink or an alfresco meal, skipping (yes, there's a couple of skipping ropes on the patio) or watching the sun set over Porlock, whilst listening to the local children play tennis or kick a ball around. Porlock is an exceptionally pretty and tidy little town with a good mix of shops, a couple of galleries, gift shops, a museum, a church (with a 1000 year old Yew tree) and a clutch of pubs, as well as a visitor centre. It's a super base for walkers and perfect for trips to Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth, Lee Bay, Bossington, Allerford, Dunster Castle and Brendon...to name a few. From Porlock we also went to the amazing Craft Festival at Bovey Tracy, Devon on the weekend of our stay, which was just 1.5 hours south of us. An easy round trip across the stunning Exmoor countryside. A wonderful holiday in a truly wonderful home.
Mr Mottershead
Beautiful house, light and airy with lovely view. Excellent bedrooms and extraordinarily comfortable beds and bedding. Great showers and bath. The kitchen is really big and well equipped with a huge table. We loved the fact that we could walk into Porlock from the house. What a great village ! We enjoyed the shops, cafés, galleries and some local events. Good food to be had in the pubs and lovely walks to the sea or through the woods to the moor. Parking at the house is very tight. Access to the house is via a steep set of steps.
Mrs Winstone
Lovely. roomy, comfortable house. Porlock has 2 mini-supermarkets, pubs, cafes and some shops. The museum is interesting.
Mrs Newport
Meadow bank is a lovely, quirky, homely house with outstanding views. There are a lot of steps outside up to and down from the house due to its lofty position, so not suitable for those with mobility issues, but the location is fantastic. We loved it.
Mrs Osgood
Beautiful, characterful house in a great location. Relaxed feel, quiet, great views. Walks, beaches and attractions close by or just relax on the beautiful deck and garden if you prefer. House had lots of space and at the same time had a homely feel. Nicely decorated and comfortable, all the facilities you could wish for. A perfect stay, very impressed. Would return and highly recommend.
Ms West
We loved this property and didn't want to leave. We were walking sections of the SW Coast Path and this was a perfect base. There are great walks near by, the village has all you need and the coast is easy to get to. The house is comfortable with plenty of space for two families to share and we loved having the pantry as well as the usual kitchen space. The patio, garden and recreation field and playground just under the window kept the kids happy while we sat in the sunshine and enjoyed the views.
Mr Lockwood
Extremely comfortable cottage in a great location. Very relaxing. Lots of good things to do nearby. Good food at the |Royal Oak and two other pubs in Porlock
Mr CLARKE
We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Meadowbank House. The location is very central and it is very easy to access the local town. The kids loved having access to the facilities in the recreation ground. The views from the terrace made for lovely sunny evenings outside. The house is very well setup and we had everything we needed for the weekend. Very easy to find the property and off road parking was very helpful.
Miss Sandom
Absolutely gorgeous location, beautiful views from the house, with a lovely outside seating area for BBQs! Great access to Porlock with shops and tea rooms. Will definitely be booking again.
Mr Foxwell
This was a lovely house that exceeded our expectations . It was perfect for your family get together and special celebration. Heating and hot water were plentiful with great pressure for the showers. The bed's were very comfy and cosy and the house well equipped. Views out across the valley, village and out to sea were a joy. There is walking from the door and easy access to the village where a visit to the Royal Oak is a must. We visited in December so made use of the super log burners and the house had been decorated for Christmas which was an added treat. Would definitely recommend and will come again.
