As soon as you step through the front door of this gorgeous cottage, you will fall in love with its character and charm. It is easy to see where the cottage gets its name when you cast your eyes up to the beautiful minstrels' gallery.

Created perfectly for spending time in together, the open plan living, dining and kitchen areas are beautifully finished and furnished, complete with a wood-burner for those cosy evenings in. Chefs will delight in the kitchen that is luxuriously crafted and equipped with everything you could need. For those times when you want to hunker down with a good book, head up to the gallery where there is a gorgeous snug area to escape to. Perhaps if you are feeling musical, you can live up to the namesake and entertain your friends and family from the gallery - how glorious!

The unique character doesn't stop at the bedrooms; the double room has a staircase leading up to the en suite bathroom. A perfectly positioned Velux window means you can soak in the bath and watch the stars - total bliss. Guests are offered great flexibility in the second bedroom, as the beds can either be set up as a king-size double bed or two small singles. Given there is a wet-room on the ground floor too, there will be no queues in the morning, as each bedroom has use of its own bath/shower-room.

As well as your own private patio area, you have access to a secret corner of the garden that boasts beautiful views across to Glastonbury Tor. An evening cocktail here whilst watching the sun go down will be a highlight of your holiday. Adjacent to Minstrels and accessed via an external door, is a shared utility-room that has a washing machine and tumble-drier, for which the owners operate an honesty box.

Dr Pedler

Wonderful cosy cottage, amazing welcome pack from the hosts including Christmas treats. A great way to spend Christmas!

Mr Amershadian

This is a spacious property, with a bright and airy kitchen, dining area and living room making time spent there enjoyable. The property has easy parking. The view to Glastonbury Tor towards the back of the property is delightful. Jon and Linda were very accommodating hosts eager to make visitors welcome and comfortable. Although a small village, Shapwick has a bus service that proves helpful.

Ms Hopwood

This was a very comfortable and well cared for property and is very close to the wonders of Avalon Marshes, as well as close to Wells, Glastonbury and Bath.

Mrs Fudge

We really appreciated the lovely welcome pack. Best we have had in a holiday let! The tip for the farm next door for our children was also much appreciated and the peaceful scenery and spacious, light filled & well organised interior was delightful. We felt truly refreshed from the experience of staying here!

Ms Lawrence

The cottage was even better than expected. The owners were friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. The garden and outdoor space was beautiful. We felt very comfortable and the dog loved it too.

mr Jenvey

The details on the website were very aceart, many thanks.

Mr Rose

The owners, Linda and Jon, are so friendly and helpful. A great deal of love and attention to detail have been invested in Minstrels. The wet room is a real luxury feature and the use of the roof space is eye catching. It's a really cosy, warm place to stay. We weren't particularly impressed with local pubs fir eating out in the evening. We had far more success using excellent cafes for lunch in Bath, Frome, Beckington and Wells. Wells Cathedral was awe inspiring, especially the library. The Avalon Marshes are quite otherworldly and the wildlife is remarkable. The location was further West than would have been ideal for us fir the main places we intended to visit.

Mr Webber

Went beyond our expectations the hosts are absolutely lovely and they went the extra mile will be returning for sure

Mr Dodge

A really lovely stay and a very well appointed cottage. Nice quiet picturesque village and easy to get to surrounding places. Great for exploring the area and even better to get back to the cottage and settle down for the evening!

Mr Holdsworth

An enjoyable stay in a well equipped and comfortable cottage, with the added bonus of a generous welcome pack including some high quality home baking. Probably due to our age the mezzanine galleries didn't particularly work for us, the dominance of the wood in the decor made it a little dark and there was a surprising amount of road noise in the early morning. We found the wider area very interesting with lots to see and do.

Ms Parsons

We very much enjoyed our stay at Minstrels and would recommend it as a comfortable base to explore the Somerset levels (more interesting than we expected) together with the pretty villages and hills nearby. The treats on arrival were better than any we have ever had!

Mrs Uren

Lovely welcoming property in a quiet location just a short drive from Glastonbury and Wells. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. We had a very enjoyable week and would highly recommend to others.

Miss Hughes

Minstrels is a beautiful cottage, well equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Fantastic welcome pack of homemade carrot cake, bread, jam and marmalade also locally sourced eggs, milk, butter and cheese there was also a bottle of wine and bag of minstrels, lovely surprise to find all of these ‘goodies’ along with a hand written welcome card from the owners, such a lovely touch. The cottage itself was fitted out to a high standard, comfortable beds and an amazing walk in shower, the en suite bathroom was a quirky addition to the bedroom, snug area was a great area to go and sit in, gardens were lovely and the view from the secret garden was stunning. The cottage is situated in a quiet area with secure electric gate system, close to many local amenities and many great places to visit. Would highly recommend to others and we will hopefully return to stay again in the future.

Mr Beard

Lovely property, peaceful location and well located for visits to well known towns and points of interest. The owners were lovely.

Dr M Kerr

Beautiful cottage, very welcoming open and bright. Plenty of room for everyone. Very thoughtful welcome package, fresh scones, cake, milk, cheese and a Easter egg. Wonderful nights sleep in the comfy beds. Fantastic outdoor spaces. Great location for dogs. Wetlands just down the road. Lots of great locations in easy access by car.
