This 'best of all boltholes' is just a couple of miles outside the wonderful city of Bath and yet in a rural setting with panoramic valley views and a deep sense of peacefulness.

Kingham Cottage is a beautifully renovated, detached stone cottage with a warmth of character that you will feel the moment you arrive. The cottage and the location, between the villages of Combe Down and Monkton Combe, high up on the side of the valley, are idyllic.

When you book your stay at Kingham Cottage, 100% of the income goes to beneficiaries of After Umbrage, a charity providing free short breaks for carers and anyone looking after loved ones with life-limiting or terminal conditions. Since 2015, this excellent arrangement has given away over 240 free holidays at Kingham Cottage, a gift guests say is both magical and energising, helping them return home rejuvenated. For more information, please visit www.afterumbrage.org.uk.

The sitting-room is a perfect 'unwinding' room, with a stove in the fireplace, deep sofa to sink into, wooden floors and beams. Mrs Bamlett

A very comfortable and well appointed cottage. It has stunning views from the window. The small front garden area is a suntrap with the table and chairs set out for you to enjoy the view. Well situated to explore Somerset and the Cotswolds.

Mrs Wilkin

Lovely, relaxing, clean comfortable cottage. Very quiet location and an excellent base for exploring Bath and beyond with easy access and for walking and enjoying the surrounding area . The view from the cottage is amazing. Recommend the Two Tunnels Walk. Great for bird and bat watching from the comfort of the lounge!

Miss Yau

Nice cottage pictures and descriptions were physically accurate.

Miss Gallagher

Kingham Cottage is delightful and charming. It is a perfect base for visiting and exploring Bath with a very good pub in a walkable distance and the amenities of Combe Down to hand too. It is very well-appointed and designed with lots of lovely decorative touches. Kingham Cottage is a real find as it is welcoming and comfortable as well as being well-situated with amazing views. We very much hope to return for a future visit.

In good condition

Mr A MUIR

Great website. Easy to use. Clear arrival instructions. Friendly well informed staff when I phoned.

Mrs Gray

Enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. Great view of the valley from the garden. Peaceful location with easy access to Bath. Hope to be back!

Ms Ferguson

Lovely cottage. Extremely comfortable with everything you need for a short break. And easy drive into Bath. Would highly recommend

Mr Chorlton

We enjoyed our stay at Kingham cottage. Our highlights inside included; the well equipped kitchen, the bath tub (we don’t have one at home) and that everything was comfy (sofa, beds). Outside the views over the valley out front were a great accompaniment for our evening meals on the terrace. Being on the side of the valley the walk up into the village was steep but the deli and local playground (for children inc toddlers) are worth the walk.

Mrs Simpson

This is a lovely, characterful cottage in a beautiful location. It was comfortable, well equipped and very cosy.

Mr Mills

Really enjoyed our stay in this fabulous cottage in such a great location on a very quiet lane. Well equipped and loved the vaulted ceilings in the bedrooms. The outside patio area with an amazing view is such a bonus and as we relaxed after supper each night we'd hear the lovely call of an owl! Bath is a wonderful city and the country landscape is really interesting, hilly, yes but full of features such as viaducts, aquaducts, the river and canal. The two tunnels is a must. One of out best cottage stays (and we've done many!) Lovely to know that the cottage is owned and run by a charity for respite for carers.

Mrs Bryant

A gorgeous property with everything we could have needed or wishes for. Both the cottage and surrounding area were perfect for a holiday. The views from the sitting room window were an added delight.

Mrs Kluz

The cottage was beautifully cared for and the attention to detail made it very comfy and cosy indeed. The position of the property was a lovely surprise and so peaceful. I think it is probably the best cottage we have ever rented.

Mrs Wakefield

Highly recommend and we will certainly return when we next visit Bath.

Mrs Dale

We had a lovely comfortable stay in this characterful cottage. Very well situated for visits to Bath and also Bristol, with an excellent village shop and pub in walking distance. Classic Cottages give one a sense that any cottage you book through them will be comfortable, well equipped and in a good location. Kingham Cottage certainly lived up to this and as 4 adults we had a very relaxing week end break.

Mrs Bartlett

We had such a lovely stay at Kingham Cottage - so cosy and christmassy and would definatley return.

Ms Hooper

I understand that the cottage belongs to a charity and is used for the benefit of charity clients when not being rented out; this is a fantastic idea and 'win win' for everyone. Classic Cottages have never left us disappointed with their cottages, Kingham Cottage was no exception and we would certainly consider a return visit.

Mrs Simpson

A very comfortable cottage very convenient for Bath via the Park & Ride. Darling Deli a must though better to walk there as parking impossible.

Mrs Makarow

Beautifully located cottage nearby Bath.

Mr Small

A fantastic cosy cottage in a lovely location. the views are breathtaking and if you're up for the walk the old railway tunnel is nearby. Easy access to Bath and Bradford on Avon.

Mr Dines

An excellent place to stay and enjoy a few relaxing days: very well equipped cosy cottage, with walking tracks immediately outside. Easy access to Bath and the hills.

Mrs Pascoe

Kingham Cottage is a haven of peace and quiet in the most perfect location. Bath is so close (you can walk there via the cycle track through a mile long former railway tunnel!) it's easy for a day trip or meal in the evening, yet set in a beautiful valley with gorgeous views. Great walk from the cottage down to the village and alongside the canal to Dundas Aqueduct - with a lovely pub to stop at before you tackle the hill on the way home...

Mr Nickel

It was lovely.

Mrs Drew

Kingham cottage was exactly as shown in the pictures; beautiful, full of character and very comfortable. Super comfy beds - best sleep in ages. Very peaceful and picturesque surroundings and we had some great days out with Bath, Bradford On Avon, Lacock and Avoncliff within easy reach. Would highly recommend this cottage.

Mrs Hodgson

Delightful cottage, ideal situation just outside bath near very good places to eat and visit. We love the fact that the money generated from this cottage is used for such a good cause, thank you after umbrage.

Mrs Adams

We didn't book with Classic Cottages for our main holiday this year, but it's definitely the first place for me to look as I'm always very happy with the contact I make with the office as well as using the website. This was perfect, especially at such short notice! It was lovely and cosy on a cold winter day with a fab view across a frosty valley. Everything was catered for and it was very comfortable. So far never a bad one from Classic Cottages. They seem very reliable and we've been very happy in all of the different cottages we've booked. There hasn't been anything to cause disappointment on arrival as things are exactly how they've been advertised and the quality is exceptional, especially as you're relying on the individual cottage owners to keep everything in order. Roll on 2017 :)

Mr Boesehans

The nights are very quiet, sometimes we heared night-birds - very lovely!

Mr Wagg

Tastefully appointed to a high standard.

Mr Decker

Kingham is a true delight, excellently appointed and equipped. Location is superb and can't repeat enough how thoroughly we enjoyed our stay. Very homely and comfortable with the right mix of thoughtful touches from the milk and tea bags waiting for us to the huge selection of DVDs and books, not long enough to explore everything around us fully. Can't wait to visit again! Lee, Neil and Jensen

Mrs Mair

Lovely cosy cottage which suited us perfectly

Mr Gruber

We really enjoyed staying in this lovely place. Offering good views and a calm environment, combined with a public footpath close by - directly into Bath in a old railway tunnel.

Miss Berry

The cottage was lovely, decorated and finished to a very high standard with lots of nice touches. It was a wonderful place to be, cosy, comfortable and it felt like a home from home. We did not want to leave. The location is really great, in the countryside with lovely walks straight from the front door. At night we could hear the owls and saw badgers. It is also so close to Bath and an entrance to the Two Tunnels - a bike would have been useful. We very much hope to visit again, with our bikes...
