Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Watson

This is a fantastic place to stay. If you want to explore Pembrokeshire but want peace and quiet then this is perfect. It is well furnished and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay there. It is lovely and warm but should the weather allow there is an outside area which overlooks green fields. This particular location will be ideal for anyone who has an interest in WW2, the RAF and 1940's period. A great deal of time and effort has gone into recreating this atmosphere. Remember, this was an operational RAF building and you can really feel this but, in a good way. Warm, comfortable and quiet with plenty of information, pictures and photographs explaining what this base was and how it contributed to the defence of our country in a way which is often overlooked and almost forgotten. If you get offered the chance to look at the other parts of the building, which is a work in progress, then take it. We would highly recommend this holiday cottage.

Mrs Woods

The museum that the owner has , and is still expanding, is very interesting showing how early radar helped in the World War 2. He happily showed us around and gave us a feeling of what it must have been like at the time it was in use.

Mr Knight

This is a fantastic property, well equipped, in a great location for local beaches. The fascinating history reflected in the decor and furnishings was an added bonus

Ms Davis

Fascinating property in a great location for visiting Dale and the various Havens. Really enjoyed looking at the artwork, the information about the history of the building and the books (which were a bit different from the usual holiday-cottage reading material). In particular, Eileen Younghusband's book about her WAAF experiences during WW2 really brought to life how the different aspects of the radar system worked together - and it was refreshing to read an 'ordinary' female perspective on life during wartime. The location is very peaceful - the Officers' Mess and Officers' Quarters are in two separate buildings which isn't immediately obvious from the photos on the website.

Mrs Male

We stayed at the Officers' Mess two years ago and loved it so much that we decided to try the Officers' Quarters this time. We were not disappointed. The photos do not do the property justice. As with the Officers' Mess , the owners have managed to capture the feel of the time so authentically. The property is spacious, well-eqipped and we were given a lovely warm welcome by our hosts. The outdoor space was fantastic with areas to suit any time of day and we highly recommend using the hammocks. The location is perfect for exploring the local area and we particularly enjoyed our evening stroll down to St Brides Beach. Other high-lights were Dale, Marloes Sands and the lovely cafe there Runwayskiln. Infact the area had such an impact on us that since our first visit here we have actually moved to Pembrokeshire from Cornwall. Lovely property in a particularly stunning area.

Mrs Smith

This is a truly uniquely styled property, which really made you feel you had stepped back in time, in a good way. (It only needed the addition of the smell of Mansion Polish, to take me straight back to the married quarter homes of my childhood and my Dad's RAF offices!) The decor and furnishings were lovely, comfortable and fitted with the 1940's theme, with lots of historical items & photos enhancing the ambience. The sitting room with wood burner, was so cosy and warm, we didn't get as far as using the dining room, but ate at the small table in there instead, (there was only two of us, so plenty of room). The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedding probably the best we have ever had in a holiday property. The addition of the hot tub, was very welcome and we made use of it most evenings after our long walks, a great way to relax the stressed muscles, under the stars too, at this time of year (March). The shower rooms are a little austere and reminded us both, of our school days, with the high cisterns and chain flush pulls! A little more luxury in these areas would be an asset. The kitchen is adequately equipped and does have the addition of a slow cooker, as well as the usual cooking stove & microwave. But be aware that there are limited pantry items, no cooking oil, vinegar, coffee, (no pods either for the coffee machine), sugar etc. good to be aware of for the first evening's meal/refreshment. We were supplied with loose leaf tea, milk, salt & pepper and two packets of Welsh cakes, plus there was bottled water in the bedrooms, which was a lovely idea. The location of The Officers Quarters was great for us, you can walk from the door to join the coastal path or drive down to St Brides beach, (1 mile away, where there is good parking) and again join the coastal path or the local footpath network that takes you over to Marloes village and onwards to Marloes sands. From The Officer's Quarters, you are not far to anywhere in south Pembrokeshire, so lots of opportunity for eating out, walking, beaches, shopping etc. For eating out, we found Runnwayskiln Cafe at Marloes Sands, The Really Wild Emporium in St David's, The Stackpole Inn at Stackpole, (lots of walks available from Stackpole Quay or Estate) all excellent for lunches - quality dishes, with fresh local ingredients and good choices for all diets, plus cheerful, helpful staff. If you are interested in wartime history, a visit the Carew Cheriton Control Tower is highly recommended. We took up their offer of a Saturday morning visit, (they have limited opening hours out of season, a Google will bring up their website for full information) and it was brilliant, so informative and interesting. Steynton Farm Shop on the way to Milford Haven was great for fresh home grown produce, extremely fresh milk, cheese, ice cream etc. and Farm Cottage bakery, provides excellent bakery products and bread Thurs- Saturday - pre orders and collection only, but they are only just dow

Mr Tabert

The idea of staying in an old RAF Radar station sounds good but you must be prepared for different type of atmosphere from your standard holiday cottage. Not a cosy stay. Need to have interest in this type of building.

Mr Neilson

Everything was beyond our expectations. It was our second stay and again wonderful property with real character. Great location with many beautiful walks and places nearby.

Mr Batten

This is a seriously good holiday home. It is ideally placed for exploring this part of Pembrokeshire. All the facilities you would expect are here and everything works. The decor is amazing and is sympathetic to the restoration of the radar rooms. It is one of the very few homes we would ever consider living in full time. Officers' Quarters is very quiet, the occasional hoot-hoot of the owl is about the loudest noise! The owners John and Jane are very helpful but they give you privacy. John's tour of the radar rooms was fascinating and shouldn't be missed. We stayed in the amazing September weather of 2023 so we never used the wood burner. The home remained cool despite those ridiculous temperatures. There are several good pubs/restaurants within 7 miles so we ate out each day and then returned to enjoy a glass of wine in the private hot tub and conversations with the cows in the next field. We travelled in an EV and there are good chargers (Dragon network) in Milford Haven (visit the Marina for several good restaurants) and Little Haven (two excellent pubs). We will be returning to Officers Quarters.

Mrs McWilliams

A truly wonderful place to stay. The attention to detail in restoring the building was outstanding. The kitchen and equipment provided were very good, far better than other places in which we have stayed. Beds supremely comfortable and fabulous living and dining room. The period details and dressing of the Officers’ Quarters made it a very special holiday. When we arrived, late at night it felt so welcoming to walk into a place where the table lamps were on in every room, making it feel warm and welcoming. We were also very grateful to the owner for showing us around the work he is doing on the control room and the comprehensive and very interesting history of radar and the location. If you want a peaceful location, fabulous facilities, this is the place for you - and if you are interested in WWII history it’s somewhere you must go.

Miss Lewis

We stayed for a week last year and loved the cottage and area so returned for another week this year. Everything was as lovely as we remembered... Comfy beds, great showers - instant hot water. Lots of room but cosy and a great outside space. Good wi-fi too. We love all the 1940's accents teamed with mod-cons (and the welcome Bara Brith..!)

Mrs McGill

Great property. Spacious and very well equipped in a lovely location and the owners were very nice and really helpful.

Mr Debenham

Officers’ Quarters is a special place to stay. The property is extremely well equipped and much larger than we imagined. John and Jane, the owners, were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond in making us feel welcome. The location is excellent for a vast range of days out. Thoroughly recommended!

Ms Copperwaite

This is a lovely property, very evocative. The only noise you will hear are birds and an occasional cow. There are numerous small villages and beaches (some within walking distance) to visit as well as the larger towns such as Pembroke and the city of St David’s. There is a very informative book in the property with lots of restaurant and pub recommendations for food and drink. We had a very restful week here.

Mrs Griffin-Pearce

Ideal property for WW2 and 1940s fans and those wanting to live in a lovingly recreated time capsule. Fabulous location for walking along the coast path and visiting loads of lovely unspoilt and quiet beaches.

Mrs Freeman

Very peaceful location. Sitting in the hot tub after a busy day was a real bonus and if it's sunny then even better

Mr Spencer

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at officers quarters. The decor is amazing and property has everything you need for your stay.We would love to come back in the summer. Amazing place situated very well as days out are all just waiting about 30 minutes away at most.

Mr Neilson

Great location. Very interesting building with lots of history. It was furnished to a very high and comfortable standard in keeping with the 40s theme. It was far beyond our expectations. Hot tub, hammocks, bbq and fire pit all ready to go. The owners were very helpful and provided lots of useful written information on the history of the building, places to visit, recommended pubs etc. Even provided os maps to help. Highly recommended for anybody who wants luxury with plenty of atmosphere.

Mr MacKenzie

A fabulous and unique experience. John and Jane have really gone above and beyond in restoring this property in line with its WW2 history. The maps on the wall, the photos of soldiers at the building in the 40s, the sherry decanter and glasses, it is really unique. At the same time, it is functional and practical: modern bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, etc. If you are looking for something different and an incredible view from the roof terrace, stay at Officers Quarters.

Mrs Meates

We loved our stay at the Officers Quarters. The owners were so lovely and very accommodating. They even brought over some toys for our kids which was very thoughtful. We enjoyed the hot tub every evening as soon as the kids went to bed! The location is very close to lots of local beaches and towns, and not too far from places for days out with the kids. We visited St David’s twice and our daughter loved the Dinosaur Park that’s about a half hour away. Wonderful place for a holiday!

Mrs Shenkman

Wonderful location for St Brides Bay easy journeys to all beaches and eating places House warm Comfy beds sunny sun terrace Quiet position Very kelpfull owners John and Jane A good holiday

Mrs Humphreys

Absolutely wonderful place to stay.A hive of intrigue, exceptional nostalgia , the ambience and surroundings have so much detail. We felt so privileged to stay there. Would highly recommend to all .Especially someone with an interest to our war era . The log fire , comfortable beds , hot tub .All added to our luxury . The owners couldn’t have been more helpful . Entirely satisfied . Hoping to return soon . Thank you for the privilege . so much attention to detail .

Mrs James

If you want the WOW factor then this is the place to go. The accommodation is amazing with so much history to look at as the renovation has been kept in keeping with the 1940's and leaves you feeling very proud of our English heratige . John and Jane (the proprietors ) are such a lovely couple and make you feel very welcome. They have a wealth of knowledge on the history of the 'Officers Quarters' and are so willing and passionate to share, which I have to say is extremely interesting. We will definitely be returning for another stay as soon as we can. This place is a must.

MRS MEATES

We had a very enjoyable break within the officers quarters. All facilities were to a high standard including the very enjoyable hot tub which we used every night in all weathers. It was also fascinating to stay in a period (1942) building used in the defence of our country. The area is well known to us, but this unique location was very special; the hosts Jane and John were also very helpful and welcoming.

Mrs Perera

Fabulous stay. Beautiful location and all other places of interest are easy to get to.

Miss Lewis

The property is a delightful mix of 1940's nostalgia and 21st century functionality. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would highly recommend the property.

Mr Callaghan

We had a lovely, friendly welcome from the owners. Wonderful period details and fascinating history of renovation. Comfortable and warm and the hot tub great. The area is out of the way with amazing walks along the coastal path. The walk down to St Brides worth the lovely cove. We recommend Sunshine italian restaurant in Broad Haven. We booked a window table to catch the sunset over the beach. Excellent food here. We also ate very well at the National Trust cafe in Marloes.

Mrs Twine

Great location. Loved the spaciousness of the property. Decor and WWII history fabulous. Like going back in time.

Mr Knight

An amazing property in a stunning part of the world.

Mrs Budzik

Great location, gorgeous WWII era vintage feel in living spaces. Beds were very soft & bouncy. Private hot tub is a welcome touch. Hot showers. No dishwasher. WiFi drops out frequently. Kitchen is not well equipped for self catering but fine if you plan to eat out a lot. Outside (yard style space) you will find a simple homemade fire pit (washing machine drum) and small stacked brick makeshift BBQ, table with four chairs & two loungers. Lots of birds to be seen & heard from the neighbouring foliage. Definitely recommend Marloes Sands beach (not accessible for everyone) and the sea safari to see the puffin’s is not to be missed! Had good pizza & waffles at Milford Haven.

Mrs Bridden

We had the perfect stay at the Officers Quarters. It has been renovated with love and care and the attention to detail makes it a truly unique place to stay. Everything is provided to make it a home from home. We enjoyed many family meals here, relaxed in the tranquility of the patio and slept better than ever in the comfort of the bedrooms. However, it's the charm and history of the place that bring the magic ingredients. There owners are incredibly welcoming and genuine in wanting to make our stay as perfect as possible. Finally, the area itself...WOW....what stunning coastlines and beaches. We can't wait to come back and explore more.

Mr Mitchell

This property was an excellent find. Being ex-military, the name Officers’ Quarters attracted us and we were not disappointed. Originally a war time secret RAF radar station that reverted to farm buildings after the war but was then lovingly restored and refurbished by its present owners, John and Jane. The property houses two holiday lets, an art gallery and the bulk of the building gradually being developed as a museum honouring its wartime role. The holiday lets have been refurbished retaining the period authenticity but incorporating modern living standards. The building was airy, warm and cozy, the perfect place to quietly relax and chill out. Within walking distance is a small safe beach renowned as being the warmest sea water for swimming along this part of the coast. Driving north around St Bride’s Bay are Little Haven, Broad Haven, Newgale, Solva and St Davids, all within easy reach. Alternatively moving south through country lanes are villages and sandy beaches, castles and pools, all with unique history. The hosts were most welcoming and friendly, genuinely interested in providing something different as a great holiday location. They succeeded and we have no hesitation in recommending Officers Quarters.

Mr Thompson

Officers' Quarters and its neighbour must be unique conversions of part of a WW2 radar station, retaining a vintage feel with the furnishings, decor and pictures but with all mod-cons. Close to the scenic Pembrokeshire coastline, this is in a great location too. Definitely recommended.

Mrs Lewis

A very special property in a quiet and peaceful location (August Bank holiday week!) Charming and helpful owners who take great pride in making sure their clients are happy. They even supplied extra equipment, a bistro set for the patio, during our stay. Welcome sherry added to the atmosphere of this unusual property. This is a beautiful area of the Pembrokeshire coast, giving excellent access on quiet roads to lovely coastal villages. (40 minutes to St. Davids, 15 minutes to Dale. Nearby Little Haven is beautiful). Coastal walking is matchless and 20 minutes across the fields brings you straight onto the coast path via a tiny bay. All in all, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and to return to the Officers’ Quarters.

Mr John

Officers' Quarters is like stepping back 80 years - but with better plumbing and kitchen facilities. There's a real loving eye for detail in how the property has been restored, and it's incredibly welcoming and comfortable. The place has a real wow factor, and my two kids and I had a fantastic time. Would recommend to anyone. Oh, and there's a lovely beach 3/4 of a mile's walk away down a country lane.

Mr Stockwell

Officers' Quarters is not the usual holiday cottage and is all the better for it. John and Jane, the friendly owners, have clearly spent a great deal of love and care in restoring the property, getting a good balance of 1940s authenticity and modern facilities. We are a family of four (inc two teenagers) and would definitely recommend it for people looking to stay somewhere a little different from the norm without sacrificing comfort - the beds are very comfy! It's in a great location with St Brides Haven close by - perfect for a morning or evening swim - as well as Dale, Marloes and St Martins Haven and the headland overlooking Skomer. We stayed there in mid August and saw loads of seals and pups in the coves round the headland. Also handy are Little Haven and Broad Haven - we would recommend the burgers at Sand and Stone Kitchen in Broad Haven.
