Hillrise
Situated in the picturesque Yorkshire Moors village of Glaisdale, Hillrise is a delightful cottage to while away your holiday in. Lovingly restored with cosy interiors packed full of charm and wonderful views across the moors, the owners have created a blissful sanctuary and a perfect retreat for families and friends alike.
Stroll along the winding country roads and immerse yourself in all the village has to offer, with its local pub, cute railway station, access to the Coast to Coast walk and of course not forgetting the sheep! You will be charmed by the beautiful interiors that lie behind the stone facade of this traditional terraced cottage. The rustic pine floor, beamed ceilings and sash windows, which really let the light flood in, make this the quintessential Yorkshire cottage holiday in the National Park.
You are welcomed by the spacious entrance hall with plenty of room for muddy boots, coats and any outdoor gear you have. The sitting-room, with its window seat perfect for staring over the hills and taking in all that nature has to offer, has lots of comfy seating and a wood-burner to keep you warm in the cooler months. The separate dining-room, with large family dining-table, has patio doors open to the private rear courtyard where you can share an al fresco meal. With a second wood-burner in this room there is no chance of getting cold in this cottage.
The galley kitchen boasts everything you need to whip up a fantastic meal using local produce you have picked up on your exploration of the area. Up to the first floor the main bedroom and family bathroom are an absolute triumph and there's also a single room and a modern shower-room. The twin bedroom is found on the second floor along with another double, and let's not forget the landing nook full of toys and books to keep the kids busy. There's also a Nintendo Wii which is great for keeping all the family entertained.
Outside the property you can enjoy a meal in the rear courtyard, barbecue some steaks or go for some local veg! Meanwhile there is a small patio area to enjoy at the front.

Mrs Irwin
Hillrise is a very comfortable, cosy but also spacious, home from home. The location and local amenities are great for walking & exploring the area. The owners had thought of every detail and we will definitely try to go back, perhaps when the days are longer as there is so much more we want to explore. It was also ideal for our dog as a separate area for her to sleep and back yard a good space. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay!
Mr McDermott
Hillrise, in Glaisdale is a quiet, clean and well equipped cottage that is spacious and cosy at the same time. The two log burners are a great asset as they create an ambience that can't be achieved via central heating. There is a pub which is a short stroll down the hill (3 mins) which serves food of a decent standard. There's also a train station (!) that runs trains into Whitby every four hours or so. This is a great base for a holiday but there's not a lot for young children in Glaisdale itself. The house has a huge selection of books to read, along with a 'play' area with a Wii and other toys. Lots of DVD's to watch and the owners kindly allow you to use their Netflix subscription too. Book with confidence.

5* gorgeous location, lovely house. Excellent base for exploring. We visited Whitby, Scarborough, York, Middlesbrough, Saltburn, Harrogate and Bridlington. Beacon farm is amazing for ice-cream and delicious food. The kids loved the play room. WiFi was handy. Washer and dryer was a great addition. Husband was apprehensive about parking, but we had two cars and managed to park easily every day (just a few houses up the hill a couple of times). Highly recommend.
