Foxglove Cottage
As you drive into Chittlehamholt you will instantly feel a sense of calm as this lovely rural north Devon village offers a warm and friendly welcome to all its guests. Foxglove Cottage sits at the heart of the village and has been refurbished throughout offering beautiful furnishings, sumptuous beds and linens as well as a secluded garden. This whitewashed semi-detached cottage is perfect for both a family getaway or for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life! Do not forget your trusted four-legged friend who will also be warmly welcomed.
The wonderful owners will be on hand to greet you and make sure you locate the cottage which is tucked to the rear of the locally renowned Exeter Inn - you really can eat out every night if the mood takes you!
As you walk over the threshold the cottage will delight, with your eyes being drawn to the secluded garden with its beautiful sprays of colour thanks to the numerous flowerpots, meanwhile the raised decking and outside sofa create a wonderful place to relax and recharge. Back to the cottage and the sleeping arrangements, bedroom one has a comfortable double bed with an en suite shower-room. The second bedroom also boasts an en suite shower-room and has a 'zip and link' bed so it can either be configured as a super-king double or twin beds, you choose! Both bedrooms have been furnished to maximise the floor space with no detail overlooked.
The open plan living area benefits from a newly fitted kitchen with a larger than average breakfast-bar. A lovely spot for morning coffee as you enjoy that all-important breakfast, setting you up for a day of exploring or walking. At the end of the day the living area has a cosy sofa that you can sink into as you settle down to watch a film.
The owners of the Exeter Inn are the perfect hosts, the Inn is renowned for its food and whilst there is outside decking for patrons this is located at the front, with food service being during set times. Fantastic peaceful property in quiet village location. The Exeter Inn served fantastic food and it was lovely to be able to go to different locations for a walk
Mrs Hemming
This was a second stay at Foxglove Cottage and our memories were correct it was amazing - so much so that we will be back next year too! If you want somewhere special to totally relax, this is it. So quiet you wouldn’t know the Exeter Inn was next door - but you will be so glad it is! The food is fantastic and all the staff are so welcoming. Hazel and Steve are wonderful hosts who cannot do enough for you - everything you dream of for an outstanding holiday, and dog friendly too!!
Mrs Faulkner
A clean and comfortable cottage, with a lovely pub next door. Quiet location off the beaten track so be prepared to drive to places! Gravel entrance and a high step into shower may be a problem for the elderly or those with limited mobility. Perfect outdoor space for 4 legged friends!
Mr Lamb
Lovely quiet cottage, super comfy beds and furniture. Great little outdoor area, great pub next door owned by the hosts of cottage. Good base for visiting North Devon, couple of miles of narrow country lanes to get to cottage but worth it.
Mrs Lloyd
This is a lovely cottage in a peaceful village setting, enhanced by a south facing secluded little terraced garden with comfy garden furniture. The beautiful Exeter Inn next door, also run by the Owners, is characterful and pretty, serving excellent food and drinks. The atmosphere in the Inn is cosy and welcoming and the decor is sensitive to the it's historical past. The Owners are very welcoming and accommodating.
Mr COOMBS
As described above Foxglove Cottage is truly “A little bit of heaven in Devon”.
Mrs Ayres
Beautiful cottage, idyllic location, far away from almost everywhere. Super comfy beds, and well equipped kitchen. The pub serves beautiful food, booking recommended, perfect for when you don’t want to cook on your holiday
Mrs Miller
What an absolute gem Foxglove Cottage is! The owners have thought of everything; the beds are superbly comfy and the kitchen has everything you will need. There's a huge Smart TV so you can watch your favourite shows and the garden and terrace are unbelievably tranquil. We loved to sit out on the deck in the mornings, as it was a real sun-trap. Our dog was well catered for in the small but fully enclosed garden, and it was great knowing he was safe. The friendly owners Steve and Hazel were really welcoming and the food in the pub was amazing (booking is strongly advised, as previous guests have mentioned). We sat outside the pub and enjoyed a drink in the sun when we arrived and on the last night there was live music outside which we thoroughly enjoyed. The location was spot on, we were easily able to access Exmoor and north Devon and had some fabulous days out and walks with our labrador - he absolutely loved it. If you are thinking of booking Foxglove Cottage we would heartily recommend it - you won't regret it.
Mrs Charles
A lovely cottage in a great location next door to a fantastic dog friendly pub! The hosts were very welcoming and looked after us throughout our visit. I would recommend booking a table in the pub in advance - the meals were delicious. The cottage was extremely clean throughout and beds very comfortable. We had a brilliant holiday, thank you!
Mrs Hemming
This was the latest in many Classic Cottages that we have stayed in and we loved it! We have already made a booking to go back! Such a relaxing spot. The cottage had everything you could want - amazing beds, and beautiful outside space. Lovely walks straight from the cottage, so our Labrador was very happy too! The Exeter Inn was wonderful too - fantastic food and service and only a few steps away - such a find!!
Mrs Davies
We had six wonderful days in Foxglove Cottage. Very clean, very warm and cosy in February, a lovely little garden, lovely friendly helpful hosts (Hazel and Steve), and The Exeter Inn next door served wonderful food, real ale and wine! Two ensuites with great showers and the beds were super and ensured we slept well. We had everything we needed and can't wait to go back.
Mrs Bicknell
The cottage is a short drive from South Moulton which has a Sainsbury's and a petrol station. The village is lovely and quiet and the beds so comfy, had the best nights sleeps there ,so peaceful. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very cosy and warm.Great having 2 king-size beds and 2 ensuites. And of course having the pub next door for food and drinks after a day out in the beautiful Devon countryside is perfect. We loved our stay here.
MR DUTHIE
Excellent accommodation , very clean and well stocked. The owners Hazel and Steve were great hosts , very informative and friendly and the food at the Exeter Inn was delicious- you must try the lightly battered fish and chips if eating in the pub. We all enjoyed our stay including our rough collie .
Mrs Durrant
Beautiful cottage in picturesque village. Very well equipped for a comfortable stay. Very nice decking with good quality garden furniture. Excellent meals at the Exeter Inn. Do book in advance. Be aware of single track road into village. Hazel and Steve are excellent hosts.
Mrs Pawelczyk
Steve and Hazel were excellent hosts, friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was clean, bright and well equipped. The food at The Exeter Inn was exceptional and very reasonably priced. The real ales were well kept and the Romanian Sauvignon white wine was surprisingly good. We will definitely be back.

I would recommend this cottage, the village is a haven of peace, has lots of footpaths and beautiful views. The Exeter Inn is a busy, friendly hostelry with the added bonus of Steve and Hazel as hosts. Hazel’s cooking is excellent which is very popular with diners.
Mrs Murphy
The cottage was lovely and so were our host. The Exeter Inn was very handy being right next door apart from the opening hours. Sunday lunch lovely.

Excellent quality cottage which had been furnished, decorated and equipped to a high standard. The proximity to the Exeter Inn was of benefit as we were able to eat there on several occasions. The meals there are excellent and can be recommended. The owners of the cottage who run the Inn are welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Mr Williams
Superb accomodation. Met all our needs. Steve and Hazel were superb hosts. Having the Exeter Inn next door was a fantastic bonus. Food and atmosphere superb every evening. Handy location for the coastal attractions such as Appldore and Instow. Will definitely return for another dose of Devon air and hospitality.
Mr Jones
A well decorated and comfortable contemporary luxury cottage, that gave our family a unique getaway. It offered all the facilities we required, and it is ideally located near golf course, beaches and other tourist attractions (ie Dartington crystal). Please experience - Foxglove cottage - Exeter Inn.
Mrs Watkins
The cottage was pristine; it was spotlessly clean, compact and very well equipped with everything we needed. There was plenty of space for the three of us (although it comfortably sleeps four). Everything was brand new as we were only the third group to have stayed there since it had been refurbished. The owners, who also owned the excellent 'Exeter Inn' right next door were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. We would also highly recommend eating at the 'Exeter Inn' where the food was home cooked and of an excellent standard. We also felt it was reasonably priced with a varied menu. The location is also excellent, within easy reach of all the lovely holiday towns and villages of North Devon and some superb, sandy beaches and coastal walks. We cannot recommend this highly enough!
Mr Henderson
Internal layout ideal.......external area........decking and grassed area proved to be very acceptable to Ben (the dog)........not to say we did not enjoy......ecause we did.
Mrs Jennings
The perfect venue with fabulous hosts.
Ms Newton
Wonderful hosts, very friendly and most helpful. The cottage is small but lovely and it has good outside space. We had a very nice week
Ms Farooqui
Lovely cottage and friendly hosts. Highly recommend The Exeter Inn for dinner - excellent cooking and a great atmosphere, both well above an average pub.
Mr Pointon
We were delighted to be the first guests at Foxglove Cottage, it was a charming place to stay, extremely tranquil with plenty of outdoor space. Steve and Hazel were very welcoming and amenable and could not have been more helpful hosts. The cottage itself is bijou but very well-equipped, especially the kitchen for self-catering or long breakfasts. The beds were amazingly comfortable, and the surroundings are so quiet that you are guaranteed a good night’s sleep! The garden is a lovely spot for contemplation and reflection or a gin and tonic... Failing that, The Exeter Inn is a terrific pub, with a great range of beers and the food is well-executed. The locals are very friendly with suggestions of where to visit and what to see. Chittlehamholt is a great spot for day trips to the coast, Exmoor and even for Cornwall. Enjoy!
