We had a fabulous stay at the Cowshed. We loved the tranquility and really relaxed. Cottage was great but what really made it for us was how great a host Richard was - he was kind and exceptionally helpful.

The Cowshed is a lovely comfortable holiday cottage. We felt completely relaxed, and the outside space is just stunning. Such peaceful surroundings. Lots of wildlife to see. The courtyard is enclosed for the dogs, and having the meadow out the front to walk them around is a real bonus! The owner Richard is really friendly and helpful, with lots of local knowledge/advice for walks, meals, etc. The pub up the road is ok for a drink, but don't expect a lovely country pub! It's dated, but still serves a good pint. We will definitely stay here again - I didn't want to leave!! The cottage might not be suitable for those with mobility issues due to internal steps for different flooring levels, and you do have to watch your head on the stairs!

What a wonderful cottage. Spotlessly clean, very private, very comfortable. Equipped with everything you could possibly need. A delicious cake was left for us which was great as it was my birthday! Our dog loved it here, perfect fenced off patio area which was ideal with wet weather and a field with direct access from patio. Also had a child gate to stop our dog getting upstairs which was great. I honestly didn't want to go home and wished I lived here myself. I highly recommend this place, so much so that I have passed the details on to friends and family.

We absolutely loved our time at the Cow Shed!! The beds and linens were so comfy and the entire cottage was delightful! We did have a few questions upon arrival and the classic cottages staff was extremely helpful and attentive, which is so important ! Our neighbor, Richard , was so helpful and nice as well! It was all perfect !

We had the most wonderful short break here- the cow shed was stunning with everything you could want for a relaxing stay! Super quiet! Bedrooms were lovely- my children said it was the comfiest bed they’ve ever slept in! Would highly recommended

We really enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Cowshed. The house had everything we needed. The owners are next door but still felt very private. The dogs loved the field in front of the house. Lots of great dog walks around. Would definitely recommend as central location.

What a wonderful week. We stayed with our two children, baby and dog during half term. A delicious cake was waiting for us , the underfloor hearing was fabulous, they had the most comfortable beds to sleep in, a very well equipped kitchen and an enclosed patio garden which opens up to a vast field (this isn’t completely enclosed). The local pub doesn’t do food but we had a fantastic meal at The New Inn which was less than a five drive away. Richard was very welcoming and kind but not intrusive. He was on hand for some local information. Highly recommend this property

This property was so amazing! We enjoyed our stay so much and will be rebooking. The owner is lovely and friendly and full of useful local information. There is a garden with an amazing view and a large field attached to it, which is owned by the owners of cowshed and fantastic for four legged friends. There is a local shop that has lots of fresh produce and all the necessary bits you may need as well as a nice coffee shop. The red lion is super dog friendly pub and a 1 minute walk from the property. The cottage itself is oozing luxury with underfloor heating, luxury duvet and bedding through to an incredibly well equipped kitchen. On arrival we were greeted with a fresh chocolate cake, champagne and milk and a bowl of doggy treats. This place is 10 out 10!! We loved it. We are a couple in our 40’s with two dogs. It was the perfect New Year break!! Thank you to the owners and classic cottages.

We stayed at the Cow Shed whilst visiting family in nearby Black Torrington. We had a lovely week, very relaxing. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The outside space and views were beautiful. The cottage was furnished very nicely and was very comfortable. We will definitely return. Thanks

The cottage is situated on the edge of a lovely, quiet village. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Our dogs really enjoyed the field adjacent to the cottage - this exercise area was a real bonus! We would have no hesitation in returning to this lovely holiday let.

Stayed at the CowShed for a sunny week in early June, and could have happily stayed all summer. The cottage is peaceful, on the edge of a small Devon village which has a pub and a community shop/cafe. The view over the countryside was beautiful, and the dog enjoyed the freedom of the meadow next to the cottage patio. The bed was so comfortable, and the house was well maintained, clean, and with plenty of books, DVDs and games. There was a giant slab of brownie provided when we arrived, with a bottle of local milk, which was wonderful. The host lives next door and happy to help with any questions and provide local tourism advice! There were swifts and swallows circling around the property all day, and loads of wildlife in the meadow and surrounding hedges - definitely recommend as a retreat for nature lovers!

Tucked out of the way with good walks. Great paddock for dogs to run and play, which our 3 loved.

Our week at the Cow Shed made for a good base to explore Dartmoor. Very peaceful with a lovely outlook. The local shop was excellent along with a cafe. Sadly the pub doesn't serve food but it's a great place for an early evening drink with the locals. The nearby New Inn in Sampford Courtney served good food along with the Duke of York in Iddesleigh and The Kings Arms in Winkleigh. Top spots for walking were Lydford Gorge, the Teign Gorge river valley walk from Castle Drogo, Fernworthy reservoir and Hay Tor. A day at Topsham was a delight with a ferry ride across to The Turf Inn for a delicious fish and chip lunch. In the town there's a large antiques centre and an excellent museum with a lovely tea room.

A relaxing stay in a comfortable and well equipped cottage, fabulous grounds in which to wonder or sit and watch the wildlife whilst being completely dog safe and friendly. Lovely warm welcome from the hosts who couldn’t be more helpful, all together a perfect holiday.

It's a lovely property. It's ideally positioned on the North of Dartmoor with beautiful access to the North and South of Devon. The property has amazing aspect and views. Richard and Kerry were the perfect hosts.

We booked a short three night stay very last minute for over New Years, and so glad we did. The cottage was very well furnished and comfortable. As another reviewer had said, it feels like it's been thought about rather than just using old furniture. The location is great, whilst we didn't go to any of the local pubs, it only a short way to get onto some fantastic walks. Our dogs relaxed immediately and adored the under floor heating...as did we! It was also good having the enclosed patio so that they could go outside without worrying. The cake and prosecco was a wonderful touch. We loved it so much we're going to book another stay in Feb and again for next Christmas.

This property is fabulous , we felt so comfortable and at home , every single thing had been thought about & Richard was on hand if you needed anything . The views are stunning & it is so peaceful all around the property, a good position for exploring Dartmoor & it’s beautiful places. Our dog also made good use of the field in front of the cow shed ! We would love to return one day !!

We had a fantastic stay in The Cow Shed, we loved the cottage which was super comfy and had everything we needed. The cottage has the most wonderful views overlooking the field and beyond! The luxury of said field to exercise our dog was the icing on the cake. Richard and Kerry were great hosts who were available if we needed anything but we’re not intrusive, thank you both.

An beautiful cottage set in the rural Devon countryside which was perfect for a relaxing week. Nowhere was too far away and if we ever got stuck for somewhere local to visit we just asked the owners who were very knowledgeable and hospitable. A place to return to one day.

Overall the cottage and area was just what we were looking for. We went home relaxed and had enjoyed a lovely holiday there. The owners were very friendly and helpful when we needed any advice. We enjoyed some lovely meals in various local pubs. The community shop was only a short walk away and stocked a good variety of provisions at a reasonable price. We would certainly recommend it.

Helpfully located to reach so many West Country attractions while also close to fabulous pubs and local amenities. Dog-friendly, helpful but unobtrusive hosts. Cottage is spacious, well-equipped, light and warm with immediate access to field with far-reaching views. If only the fickle weather had allowed for use of the sun loungers!

A lovely property, on the edge of village with a shop, with a view over the adjoining meadow to the far hillside. Okehampton is nearby with many facilities, and walks, and many National Trusts are close by.

We stayed in the Cowshed for 5 nights in early October 2021, and loved the place. It has a calm warm feeling about the place and is ideally located for visits across Devon and Cornwall. The local shop is very well stocked and met all of our needs. The weather was very kind to us but have no doubt the central heating (under floor heating downstairs) is more than capable of keeping even the coldest person warm and toasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cowshed and happily recommend it.

We had a great stay with Pete and Sam - the house was immaculate and beautifully presented - could not fault it in any way. The coffee and walnut cake was also excellent!

We had a super stay at the cow shed - they’ve thought of everything you need and it’s decorated in a cosy neutral palette to help you relax and unwind.

It was actually better than the photos. Beautiful little barn in a stunning location. Central location so could get to most attractions relatively quickly. We will definately return.

Returning here for our second visit, we we’re more than happy to be able to enjoy this secluded retreat given that COVID-19 is on the rise again. The setting is at the edge of the village, so we were able to keep ourselves out of the way of the locals, which we felt was our responsibility to do in the current state of pandemic. We ventured to the beach at Bude in the early mornings to walk the dog a couple of times, but mostly we tried to respect the fact that we had travelled into an area with a very low infection rate and keep ourselves to ourselves. The weather was extremely kind to us and we enjoyed having the doors open wide to soak up the sunshine as well as the peace and quiet most days. Millie the dog enjoyed having the field to run in and watching the many House Martins which were in abundance this year.

Lovely stay in beautiful accommodation despite the weather but then it was the beginning of November. Loved the under floor heating as did our dog and all the board games Many thanks Viv & Andy (+ Maisy the dog)

This is an amazing property as I have said it is like staying in a "Homes and Gardens" palace - loved the peace and tranquility, the owls and hedgehogs at night and the birds and rabbits during the day. Couldn't fault it!

This house is very well located in an area of silence. The owners are giving you a warm welcome with cake and cider and during the stay they provide you full privacy. The house is lovely and perfect. We visited e.g. Clovelly, Salcombe, Torquay, Lydford Gorge and various filmlocation of Poldark in Cornwall. The Cow Shed house and the amazing area of Devon and Cornwall gave us an unforgettable vacation!!

This is truly a super cottage and grounds. Thank you also to the owners for warm welcome on arrival with home-made cake and local cider. Decorated tastefully throughout - everything is of high quality and in great condition. Extremely thoughtfully designed with our enjoyment, comfort and needs in mind. Very dog-friendly too with enclosed patio as well as huge field, dog treats, toys, poo bags, food and water bowls. Guests should know that the local pub, The Red Lion, is a good beer pub but, sadly, no longer serves food.

The Cow Shed is set in a lovely position, very peaceful. It is very well equipped and the beds are really comfortable. The field to the front is very well kept and is great if you are taking a dog, with lots of space to chase after a ball. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would definitely like to visit again.

The cow shed had the wow factor, it had a very secure garden so Archie our dog was safe. The view from the property was amazing. The inside was decorated very tastefully and to a high standard. The beds were very comfy.

This was the most relaxing break away. Made to feel very welcome by the locals at the Red Lion Pub. Gorgeous place which has been furnished to a very high standard.

It was home from home, everything we needed for a great holiday, pity about the weather but that's the UK for you! We had a lovely time and hope to return some day, thanks Kerry and Martin from Staffordshire...

You arrive and can immediately settle in with tea/coffee. What more can you want after travelling. Salt/pepper/washing up liquid may not seem of concern until you need them...but not an issue at the Cow Shed.

A well-equipped cottage, with a huge garden. It's location is very quiet, yet easily accessible and makes for an excellent gateway to many activities around Devon; walks, cycling, Dartmoor, beaches, and the family's favourite - Dragon Archery that can be found on the route out to Bude. We would be very happy to stay here again.

This is a lovely cottage that we really felt at home in. It is decorated and furnished brilliantly and has all you need, including a very good book and music library! We recommend booking ahead for the Dragon Archery - a lot of fun 20 minutes drive away.

Beautifully decorated and just as lovely as the pictures look. Fully enclosed patio area for the dogs with stones and slabs. The grassy area is huge and the weather was warm and sunny for us so nice to sit out on the deck chairs with a glass of wine in the evening. You need to have well-trained dogs in the field area as that part is not fully enclosed. The shower was amazing and powerful and the bedrooms were very large with plenty of storage space for your clothes. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet out in the country. Only a short stroll to nice pub just up the lane with very friendly staff and the pub accepts dogs inside. The furnishings looked like they were planned by an interior designer, very pretty. You didn't feel like you were just given all the left-over stuff that the owners no longer wanted like you find in some cottages. The only thing to be aware of is that the cottage is immediately behind the owner's house and you can see them in their back garden from every aspect of the back of the cottage. Perfect location for exploring Dartmoor park with some beautiful walks. Waitrose just a 7 minute drive from the cottage in Okehampton and there were some really nice walks and a pretty park in that town as well. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect! Lovely comfortable cottage with a well equipped kitchen and beautiful views across the Devon countryside. The fully enclosed patio is perfect and the meadow beyond ideal for dog walking or playing. Superb location for exploring Devon and the village has an excellent community shop and cafe.

It's clear a lot of thought ( and love) has gone into this. Loved the accommodation the great open field for the kids and the nice quiet village location and Rosie the cat was a great hit.

It was fantastic. We absolutely can't fault it. The beds were very comfy, and although we didn't make use of the kitchen as we were mainly eating out, it did seem very well equipped. The two bathrooms are much appreciated and the rooms are light and airy. The large field was superb and our girls loved running around and using the hammock. It's location was perfect; being in a village with an excellent community shop/cafe and a pub which serves good meals ( ideal after the long trip on arrival day)- both of which are just 2 minutes walk, as well as being well situated for days out.

The property exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, stylish classic and modern all at the same time. It was like a home away from home, warm and cozy. The kids loved it and so did the dog. What's not to like!

We had a Fabulous Honey Moon and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Cow Shed! The cottage was just how it was described and it was very clean and comfortable very well located for exploring devon and Cornwall, with fantastic views from the cottage... a very relaxing place with very nice home comforts. We will be recommending Classic Cottages to our friends and family.. very easy to book and efficient service. Many Thanks for Making our Honey Moon so memorable!
