Sea Cottage

This is a wonderful little cottage, well thought out and provided all that we needed. Garden was fantastic - very dog friendly. Superb access to beaches, close to some great eateries.

Sea Cottage is a perfect place for a relaxed holiday, great location, walking paths are flat and clean. The place is fully equipped.

Our third stay at Sea Cottage, we love the easy access to the Tarka Trail and the beach, short walk will take you to Instow. Communication with the owners was excellent, and the cottage is very welcoming with flowers and goodies on arrival. The cottage has everything we need to enjoy our holiday. Fabulous comfortable little cosy cottage directly on Tarka Trail and beach is right there, delightful walk into Instow too along either beach or Tarka Trail from the garden. Cottage very warm, has all you could want, perfect.

Lovely cottage. Very close to the beach which is dog friendly Good places to eat in Instow Tarka trail is literally on the doorstep which is perfect for walking and exploring the area. Will definitely be returning next year.

Lovely little cottage with everything we needed for a relaxing week in North Devon. Beds are very comfy and it was ideally located for a stroll along the Tarka Trail. Although there is no direct access from the cottage onto the wide sandy beach, it’s only a couple of minutes’ walk away. Instow itself is pretty, with four pubs, a good quality deli/cafe (the cream tea and raspberry cheesecake chocolate brownie were both delicious) and a couple of vans for local ice cream. There’s also a small cafe selling seafood and possibly a post office at the other end of the village. Not much else other than the yacht club and cricket club (which saw activity every day we were there). There is a lot to do in the area and many lovely places to visit, so we drove around quite a lot. Big Sheep was great for kids. We hope to return!

This was probably the best cottage we have stayed at. Immaculate, well stocked, well dressed. The position was great and communication with the owner was great too. I'd give 11/10 if I could

Lovely well decorated cottage in a secluded spot with everything you could need for a holiday. It as a nice private garden to relax in during the day or have your meal and drinks in the evening. We walked into Instow every morning along the beach chatting to the locals who are all very friendly. The pubs and cafes in the area are all dog friendly and all very good, our favourite pub was the Quay Inn which the locals seem to use, try the Stans cider with a slice of orange! It’s a local thing. You can also walk or cycle along the Tarka trail straight from the cottage which goes for miles in each direction. If the weather’s not to good the cottage as a TV and good Wi-Fi reception. The cottage is also right next to Instow cricket pitch so if that’s your thing you could sit and watch a match. We had a very relaxing week at Sea Cottage and would love to return. The accommodation maybe small but it was a delight and had everything we needed. it was in an ideal position for walking. Beach, dunes,sea and the tarka trail .What more could one ask for. Would go there again. Ann and Tony

We loved our Christmas stay at Sea Cottage. A very attractive and well presented little hideaway that was perfect for coastal walks right from the door, and with some beautiful locations nearby. Alison was also a great host and the place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Definitely somewhere we’d consider staying again.

A beautiful little cottage, fully equipped for all you would need. Lovely coastal decor throughout the cottage. It’s located beside the Tarka trail which is excellent for dog walkers, cyclists and joggers ! The delightful coastal village of Instow is a 10 minute walk away ..also the beach is literally just a few minutes walk away.

Benjs Box to eat. Food was amazing. Very tasty, and value for money.

All that one needs for a relaxing holiday: plenty of local walks, a shop with most things within easy walking distance, a well-equipped cottage with no phone but good wifi.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location for miles and miles of dog friendly beaches in a beautiful part of Devon. Really clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped, the enclosed garden is perfect for dogs too. Lovely arriving to (very nice) homemade cake, fruit juice and milk and Alison messaged to let us know the cottage was available slightly earlier and again at the end of the week to see if we enjoyed our stay which was a really thoughtful touch. So good, we've already booked again!

We had a lovely February break at Sea Cottage. Storm Eunice had just hit so the weather was somewhat cold and blustery! However, the owners could not have been more helpful. Communication was excellent, the chocolate brownies that greeted us on arrival were lovely and mid-week, an extra box of logs was delivered for the log burner. The cottage is small but cosy and we enjoyed some lovely walks and meals out in the local pubs.

We had a lovely New Year stay at Sea Cottage and Alison made us feel very welcome. The attention to detail at the cottage is brilliant and included a Christmas tree and many welcoming goodies. The location is so convenient with a short walk to the beach and direct access to the Tarka trail. The access road is a bit bumpy but that may be because of the time of year we visited as the weather may have affected it. We would definitely recommend a stay here if you like walking and having easy access to the beach.

Fantastic location and we were blessed with good weather so hardly needed to use the car. Sea Cottage is lovely and has lovely coastal theme decor through out. The garden is a super sun trap . All in all a excellent cottage . You won't be disappointed and will want to return

The location of this accommodation was great-having the cycle path, coastal path, beach and village on the doorstep was great. Instow was a lovely quiet village yet had amenities. This end of the village appears to have some night-time issues with youngsters making noise, and this affected our final night, making it difficult to sleep. The accommodation itself is getting tired, but the garden and location more than make up for that.

Lovely cottage, We enjoyed our stay very much . Situated right on the Tarka trail which was excellent for us with bikes. Liked it that much we have booked again for next year. Everything you need in Instow with it's lovely pubs for food and Johns deli. Brilliant !

Felt like a happy little home not a holiday let. Well designed spaces for all my needs and loved the personal touches. Couldnt reach the top cupboards or heating control but a small step/stool would fix that issue. Access to beaches and Tarka Trail couldnt be better than this little cottage. I will definitely come again.

A proper holiday home in a very dog friendly village.

We waited 2 years for our holiday (due to covid), what a disappointment.

I know we are going through some really strange times at the moment but Alison really did try and make it perfect. I really appreciated the special touches and loved her homemade brownies. We had a slight problem with the toilet but again Alison came up and sorted it out straight away.

A beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Alison was a brilliant host. Available if we needed her. The added extras of a postcard from instow before we arrived, homemade Swedish gooey cake, prosecco and fresh flowers was such a nice touch. We have stayed in many holiday cottages before and the added extras made all the difference. If you want to get away from it all and recharge your batteries then this Cottage is the place for you.

This is our second Christmas visit to Sea Cottage and it didn’t disappoint. Cosy little bolthole where we could shut out the world for a few days.

Lovely place to stay right on the beach,cricket ground on your doorstep,instow inn with in walking distance nice food and friendly and if your lucky you will get see the marines practice on the beach

There is nothing not to like about this cottage. It has everything you could want for a beach holiday. We had booked for a couple and one dog, however before we were able to go to the cottage we unexpectedly took on another rescue dog newly arrived from Russia. The owners were extremely accommodating and allowed us to take the rescue dog as well. Yes it was a bit snug but we coped with it. Including taking their crates to sleep in. You will love Sea Cottage.

Wonderful little gem of a place in Instow . Second visit great your allowed to take your dog . Lovely to be a five minute walk to beach and just open the gate to the Tarka trail . Great showers and everything you need . Looking forward to third visit .

The cottage is the perfect little beach retreat. The interior design is lovely and the cottage, warm and welcoming. Local pubs and the delicatessen are within walking distance and it is well situated for visiting Clovelly and RHS Rosemoor. Alison is a great host with all the little extra touches she adds - delicious home made cake, orange juice and milk provided for your arrival. We really enjoyed our stay at Sea Cottage.

Cosy and compact cottage in a good location for Instow - could walk into town very easily. There was a warm welcome with home made cake and other gifts left for our arrival. Cottage was comfortable and stylish with all home comforts provided.

It was not a Cottage more of a log cabin

Loved the location even the morning greeting from the neighbours (cows) which may put some people off but not us!...just rebooking for next year!

This cottage had everything anyone could need. A very good location with walks on one side and beach the other. The owner made us very welcome providing us with cake, milk, juice, flowers and chews for the dog. Will be back next year.

We had a great week in Sea Cottage and after many years of staying in holiday cottages it’s definitely on our Top 5 list and we’d definitely like to come back.

The cottage is comfortable, cosy & well equiped. Alison, the owner is very friendly and the delicious cake, milk, juice and flowers were very much appreciated. There were even treats for our dog.

This is a perfect little cottage for dog owners. Your dog will love it here as did we. Lots of walks right on the doorstep. Nice pubs to have a meal in the evening and John's deli is a must! Lovely dog friendly beaches. A very well equipped cottage with everything you need. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Good value and location. Plenty to see and do in the area

This cottage is in a lovely spot, right on the Tarka trail. A very short walk to Instow beach. There isn't really room to store your own or hired bikes as there are already bikes located in the shed. We were offered the use of those upon request. A travel cot only fits in the master bedroom, something we were not aware of prior to arriving. Nothing is needed as supplies such as toilet rolls, dishwasher and washing tablets etc are provided. A very kind and generous owner who has fitted out this cottage tastefully and thoughtfully.

A perfect little gem of a cottage - so good I keep going back for more!

This was our second stay at Sea Cottage and it was as perfect as the first. It really is a fantastic location for walks on the beach and Tarka Trail especially with an elderly dog like ours. The cottage itself is lovely and we enjoyed the special touches of flowers, cake, dog chew etc from Alison the owner.

One of the best holidays we've had, the cottage was perfect. Alison is the 'hostess with the mostest'. Lovely homemade cake, flowers, juice and milk to greet us. Blanket and treats for our dog.

Lovely cottage, really cosy and well equipped. Fantastic location for walking and cycling. Home cooked cakes and welcome pack was a really nice touch. Having the ability to clean up the dog outside after his walks was excellent and ensured he was not dirty before going back into the cottage. The dog treat and blanket was a sweet gesture too. The communications from the owner were excellent. Highly recommend this property.

The setting belies the comfort within and the convenience for getting out for a walk straight to the beach without any traffic.

Following other guests' comments I was prepared for the approach to the cottage not being too lovely and it is a little offputting but the cottage itself really is delightful. It is beautifully presented and spotlessly clean - easily the best standard of any holiday property I have stayed in. The bed was a little small for us (we are tall and fat) but it's a normal double so that's a tiny quibble. The location is ideal for dog owners - the lovely sweep of sandy beach is totally dog-friendly and dogs can go straight from the house to the beach without a lead. The cottage is peaceful and quiet and we had a very relaxing stay there. You soon get used to the cyclists whizzing past the window on the Tarka trail! I was surprised to see that there is another property after Sea Cottage as it looks as though there isn't in the photos - however, it does not impinge at all on your privacy and we soon forgot it was there. All in all, an excellent property.

classic cottages have really come up trumps with sea cottage, we felt so at home and comfortable. great location too for walking, cycling and beach. we really couldn't ask for more, and cant wait to return.

For anyone wanting a typical beach/bike/walking holiday this little cottage is brilliant. Small but perfectly formed and ideal for those wanting to leave the car at the door and relax. Beautifully decorated and equipped. Owner Alison, is a very welcoming hostess who pays attention to detail which is lovely.

The cottage was very clean and tidy and had just about everything that we could need for our stay. In addition we had some very nice 'gooey' Swedish chocolate brownie type cake that the owner had made for us. Incidentally she also kept in touch with us and we were well informed as to what was going on via text. It was a charming little place and just what we needed for a few days away. So all in order it was very good and we enjoyed it.

On arrival first impressions left us feeling a little disappointed when approaching the property, but what a delightful surprise when we entered. Stunning, comfortable, clean, light and airy. The homemade carrot cake and fresh eggs and milk were a lovely gesture from the owner. Definatley looking to go back.

This cottage is in a perfect place so close to the beach (2 mins walk) and the owners have really thought of everything from the lovely welcome cakes to the bikes in the shed. Our black lab Milo loved staying here and the outside area is perfect too, we loved it and can't wait to come back!

Excellent well- equipped chalet, lovely location 2 mins walk from the beach and dunes and right on the Tarka cycle path.

Sea Cottage is in a fantastic location - no more than a ten minute walk from the huge beach at Instow, looking out over to Appledore. On the other side is the Tarka Trail - literally right outside your window. This is fabulous for walkers, cyclists and dogs. You are within 30 minutes or so of all of North Devon's favourite places - please make sure you visit Clovelly and Lynmouth (particularly). Two really stunning places and they fall within that 30 minute criteria. Sea Cotage itself is a beautifully maintained and furnished property - the decor is very nautical and in keeping with the location. I must say, the equipment and 'white goods' in the kitchen are absolutely top notch - cannot be faulted. The double bed and two single beds are excellent, it's lovely to have the two separate bedrooms (and bathrooms) too. All in all, I'd say you really should try Sea Cottage if you want to visit North Devon - Instow is in the perfect location to explore the area (Exmoor is within 30-40 minutes too), the huge beach is rarely busy (which is great for early morning/late evenings walks, with the dog if necessary) and a ten minute walk past the lovely cricket ground, and I cannot stress enough how happy we were with the cottage itself. A beautiful chalet style cottage and fabulous value-for-money, you'll not be found wanting for anything here! Lovely communications from the owners too, I might add.

nr the sea, lots of walks, very dog friendly, lovely people (owners). could do with outside tap and equipment to shower off the dogs on return from beach, felt anxious about sand in the home.
