Lovely cottage in a lovely rural location. Plenty of wildlife and fantastic walks in private woodland. Welcoming hosts. Highly recommended.
Mr Bremridge
Magic place for a quiet holiday. Would love to return with the grandkids and let them explore the woods
Mrs Hathway
Lovely cottage, had everything we needed and is situated on the edge of a 200 acre forest. Loads of walks on the doorstep and very quiet. Beautiful.
Mrs Wheatstone
Very quiet location which we loved, after a long day out easy to relax. Dogs enjoyed the stay aswell. Will definitely go back.
Mrs Mellor
The cottage has been restored nicely and it is a great base for a family. It is lovely and quiet and the forests are great for evening walks. The outside space is a bonus especially for pets and children to let off steam and run around.
Mr Green
Fantastic definitely going back
Mrs Brown
It's such a peaceful location, we loved spotting the baby lambs everytime we went along the lane. Sam the owner was really helpful, even offered to drive us to the pub when we asked about local taxi firms. The cottage was really well equipped and comfortable, we had such a nice week.
Mrs Machin
Very peaceful location. Lots of wildlife and animals to see. There is no light pollution so if you like to look at the stars then it’s absolutely amazing! The cottage is very well equipped but I think the furniture is in need of updating and refreshing. Sam the owner is a really nice guy. There is a games room down the lane but is desperate for an update. There are lovely flowers in the garden and the views all around are lovely. There are nice, peaceful walks in the forest too.
Mrs Bevan
A wonderful cottage is a tranquil and beautiful setting. A comfy cottage with a nice conservatory. Over 200 acres of woodland on your doorstep for walking in. An enclosed garden for the dogs, what more could you want.
Mr Spencer
Lovely cottage in an amazing location. Tranquil, relaxing place away from it all. Night skies so clear. Wildlife abound spotted deer, Jays and regular visit from barn owls. Great walks in all directions around the 200 acres. Great that the cottage is heated from sustainable wood sources from the grascott estate and powered some if the time by solar panels . Sam the owner very friendly and hospitable . Great place for dogs though bring the tick remover tool and make sure they are up to date on tick/flea doses!
Mrs Chapman
Very friendly host and peaceful setting
Mr Harris
The cottage is on a plantation estate. The enclosed garden is a good size, south facing, with a pretty planted border and backing onto field and fir trees. Well kitted out with all you need, but the living space with kitchen, lounge, hallway is one space - and it is very small with one small sofa, 2 small armchairs. The conservatory is a nice space - the table had been put in there when we stayed -( I think it is too cramped in the kitchen area for it, ) which is a shame as a large sofa in the conservatory would be lovely. There were a couple of wicker chairs though. The downstairs bathroom is a good size. The upstairs one with the shower is very small. A few shelves would be helpful here as the sink was too tiny to fit toothbrushes on. Two bedrooms are a good size, but two beds in the third was a push. My daughter said her bed was really narrow. I think 6 people would be pushing it. There were 4 of us, and I think that was OK. There are walks from the door, but some of the tracks seem overgrown. It was though wonderful to spot deer & a hare in the grounds and one night from the garden, a barn owl. There were loads of swallows & house martins in the evening which was lovely (I actually had to rescue a house Martin from the log burner one morning- I assume he had flown down the pipe or something!) and we counted 50 bats flying out from the roof one night. Fantastic! A good location for exploring the area, with dolphin watching, boat trips (eg Ilfracombe) etc and beaches eg Croyde within a reasonable drive. The local pub (The Black River Inn in Black Torrington) with food, a 5-10min drive has a lovely beer garden with delicious tapas food, ideal if you have dogs.
Mr Pusey
This is fantastic get away from it all cottage. Close enough to Dartmoor and the coast if you want to travel. but some great woodland to stay at home and explore.
Mr Sharrock
Grasscott cottage is fantastic, we went on countless long walks with our dog. We saw deer, owls and hedgehogs. The wood burner was a nice addition that we look forward to using on an autumn break. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and the woods and tracks were just what we were looking for with our dog. We would love to return in the future.
Mrs Dixon
We had family staying in some of the other accommodation which worked well. There are a couple of other properties available on the farm.
Mrs Gal
Lovely cottage in a rural location. Beautiful views from the bedrooms & from the conservatory. Good sized garden, with patio table & BBQ, great in good weather. Fully equipped with everything you'd need. Lots to explore in the area around the cottages. Good location for exploring what Devon & Cornwall has to offer.
Mr Stonard
Beautiful, comfortable well appointed cottage. Tranquil spot, rural location ideal for nature watching. Even the locals call it out on the sticks. If you love the country side and don't need a pub within walking distance then this is ideal or you.
Mr Brook
Great spot
Mr Seddon
We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage, lovely touches such as the biscuits and bird suet and well equipped kitchen. The conservatory turned out to be a gem for us, as the weather was a bit mixed at times, allowed us a still a view of the garden when it was wet, and a great set up with the table in there for our morning coffee and evening meals. Lots of wildlife seen from the garden, such as a deer, a barn owl in flight, a vole and lots of varieties of birds.
Ms Green
Lovely location, lovely garden.v
Mrs Mattock
Quiet location with lovely forest walks.
Ms Ornberg
We had a fantastic stay with our dogs. Host was welcoming and the Christmas tree with decorations left for us to do ourselves was a lovely touch. This is a working farm and waterproof boots is a must especially with the rainy weather we had. We truly enjoyed our stay spite the weather, sitting in the conservatory with the sound of the rain and the fire going in the cast iron stove sipping on glue wine (a gift from the host) was just magic. I give this place 10/10 it is well equipped and have a true farm and dog friendly feeling, just what we where after : ) Just to add: We were happy with everything, guests must take it for what it is....it’s not a boutique hotel with perfect paths as it’s a working farm with true nature and a dog friendly place - just perfect! xxx
Mr Schofield
This is a great location if you want to be far from the madding crowd. In one week we saw a total of five other people besides the owner Sam, in and around Grascott, all locals. Peace and quiet!
Ms Davies
Beautiful location very peaceful and relaxing. The cleanest cottage we have ever stayed in! Please thank the cleaners they did a fantastic job!
Mr Forgan
We would describe this cottage as 'functional' It was reasonably well equipped and clean, and in a nice quiet location surrounded by forest that was fun to explore for a while (the trails are uneven and boggy so may not be suitable for everyone). The interior though lacked charm and some of the furniture had seen better days. The conservatory got hot very quick and attracted many flies. The children didn't use the trampoline as it really is in need of repair and the games room was not available. Be prepared for a lot of driving through narrow country lanes to get from / to the main road. You'll probably need to do this frequently, as there isn't much nearby to get to safely on foot.
Mrs Kenvin
Such a lovely cottage, weather was so good, we had lovely evenings sat in the sun enjoying the views.we enjoyed the lovely walks
Mr Crawshaw
Made to feel very welcome by the owner. Would highly recommend to nature lovers. Quiet. A beautiful and tranquil environment.
Mrs Inwood
Grascott cottage was everything we expected. We picked it for the location and peacefulness. There is endless walks for the dog and yourselves. You don’t even have to leave the cottage if you take your supplies with you. Highly recommend.
Mr Mackenzie
Location is fantastic and the cottage very cozy. The enclosed garden was excellent for the dogs. Met the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The surrounding forest was wonderful for walking through and exploring. The dogs were in heaven. The beds were firm which was perfect for us and a good nights sleep ensured. The whole cottage is carbon neutral which is admirable. The only issue was the lack of seating in the lounge area. The cottage can sleep 6 but there is only seating for two? Our party of three had to rotate during the evening. I have no idea how this would work with a group of six.
Mrs Finch
Lovely cottage 3rd time back but remember it is a cottage for dogs Sam is lovely nothing to much if you need it done can’t wait for Xmas with the dogs
Mrs Pople
If you want to get away from it all and just enjoy walking and relaxing this is the holiday for you.

A very well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Peace and quiet and very central location to explore Devon & Cornwall.
Mr Hollingsworth
Really lovely location, super friendly owner. Anyone with a dog will have miles of woodland to explore , anyone who loves wildlife will enjoy watching Deer , owls , bats , & if your lucky ‘like us’ Otters !! we watched 3 one morning. Super hidden gem in the Devon countryside.

This is the third time we've stayed at Grascott Farm, it's a beautiful place. Each property is perfectly equipped and Sam, the owner, is really approachable and helpful. The farm is a wonderful place to explore, I'd definitely recommend it!
Mr Fyall
A lovely, cozy cottage equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lovely location on a farm with lots of good dog walks.
Mrs Laishley
The cottage is a delight, lovely surroundings on a working farm, which does not interfere in the enjoyment of your holiday. For those seeking peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, its perfect. Definitely recommend it to those discerning few who seek the true meaning of halcyon days of summer.
Mrs Finch

We had a great stay at Grascott Cottage, the cottage was lovely and comfortable with everything we needed, especially in the kitchen. We enjoyed the seclusion and took daily walks into the forest, just remember to take wellies.
Mr Jeffrey
a beautiful place to stay
Ms Van Gool
Great cottage if you love nature, long walks, dark nights and quietness! Quite remote. The house feels so cosy and the owner is there to help and advise...and a great games room for the children!
Mr Pardoe
Happy with peace and tranquility of location of cottage but it is very remote so you need to stock up on supplies prior to visiting.
Mr Roberts
A very homely space which the kiddies loved just as much as we did. A nice touch providing a decorated christmas tree.
Mrs Pettengell
Delightful cottage set in a working Forestry Farm with plenty of places for walks & providing a relaxed atmosphere. Household equipment provided to help with all your needs. An A* accommodation.
Mrs Medhurst
This was a superb cottage for a relaxing family holiday with the dog. I had never seen a Barn owl out hunting before until this holiday it was amazing . We also found the elusive Tree House after many hours of fun filled trekking. Cant wait til next year.
Miss Stephenson
The cottage itself is absolutely wonderful. It could not have been anymore peaceful. This was our first holiday including the dog, and the garden and estate could not have been more perfect for long walks with the pup! We also experienced a mini heatwave and the garden was absolutely perfect for eating outside. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and the cottage information folder is perfect along with the hand written welcome note from the Owner. The decoration and furnishings are all very tasteful and the conservatory is really gorgeous especially given the weather we had! We will definitely be returning again in the future. Many thanks.
Miss Skiba
The house was lovely. We spent in Grasscott farm long Easter weekend with friends. We love Everything comfy sofas, beds are the Best, big kitchen, Fire place, Garden for children was cool for egg Hunt . Thank You! We hope back again.

A lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful setting with plenty of walks literally on the doorstep. Perfect place to unwind in the peace and quiet and commune with nature.
Mr Mackintosh
Very happy with the cottage, it made a good base for our holiday some minor grumbles about the track and outside doors but not big issues. The information provided was useful and the directions were both good and to be followed! Would recommend to others
Mrs Bill
Grascott Cottage was really well-equipped and comfortable, perfect for a family holiday. Exploring the woodland and wildlife spotting was great fun. Great views from the upstairs windows too!
Mr Jones
Fantastic, super quiet location!!
Mrs Pearce
A disappointment, property is in need of 'refreshing'. Smaller than it looks. Terrible beds in two bedrooms, not worth the money, left a day early
Mrs Bradley
Quiet and idyllic and a perfect base for every kind of adventure. At the end of the week, the family decided that I could go back to London and they would stay and live at Grascott Cottage. It helped that the weather was perfect.
Mr Dunning
A really lovely cottage - home from home really ! Lots of attention to detail and a truly beautiful place to relax and unwind .
Mr Venn
This is the perfect cottage for an Escape to the Country. Close (30 minutes drive) to Appledore which has a brilliant pub and restaurant run by Phil and Jan. A few minutes more to Instow which is lovely. We would recommend Grascott if you need peace and quite- the only vehicles that passed were a couple of tractors otherwise perfect isolation!
Mrs Gazza
This is a very cosy and homely property and we enjoyed our week here.
Mrs Sanderson
We had a great week in this very peaceful and comfortable cottage. We had days out on both Dartmoor and the North Coast. The garden is lovely, great for children and the walks from the door were good for the dog too. The owner was friendly and helpful, we had everything we needed and we would recommend this cottage to others.
Mrs Beach
Quiet country location 43 minutes to every where!
Ms Hawkridge
idyllic location if you like peace and quiet. isolated, tranquil, owner very attentive but not intrusive. surroundings Amazing. no traffic noise and the stars at night spectacular! yet within easy reach of good towns and facilities. equipment, decoration and furniture in house best we have ever had. the track down to the cottage very rough and the paths around the farm quite overgrown but those points minor. going back next year definitely - we loved it!
