Straw Cottage

We had an amazing stay at the very quirky and very cosy Straw Cottage. We had a wonderful warm welcome and really appreciated the little extras. Thank you, we will definitely be back!

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Straw Cottage and would definately stay again. A lovely private garden with hot tub is a particular selling point, with the rest of the property providing more than enough space for 2 people and dogs.

Cute cottage, very comfortable bed, fab hot tub we used it every day! Garden not enclosed so be careful if you bring a dog, the owners dog did tend to visit a lot which my dog wasn’t overly happy with. Farmers arms and fish and chip shop amazing! Make sure you try both. Lovely peaceful location

Rustic but very comfortable. Owners very friendly and helpful. Great for peace and quiet, and good for getting to beaches in under half an hour.

Worst holiday let ever stayed in ! Arrived with great expectations, entrance was a mess of overgrown weeds and old machinery lying around. Steps down to front door are narrow and slippery no welcome pack or note had to phone owner couldn't find light switch in kitchen and no logs for wood burner, kitchen lights were brown with grim bathroom door was difficult to close. TV remote worked sometimes and had difficulty with cooker hob asked owner to help with little success, gave up when found WIFI did not work. Came for a relaxing 4 night stay, not relaxing at all and did not sleep well because of dripping gutter, noisy fridge and hot tub, branches tapping on roof and rats or mice scratching in walls!!!!

A wonderful, cozy home away from home, Straw Cottage has all the comforts you'll need and the outdoor space is fantastic (hot tub, fire pit, bbq, garden -- what more could you want). Everything is exactly as pictured. Also North Devon has so many sights to see and activities to do, one week wasn't enough to take it all in! Plus, the village around the corner has the incredible Farmer's Arms (do yourself a favour a book a meal here!). All in all, the perfect getaway. Will definitely be returning!

The location is fab as it's only 20mins from the coast. There is a beautiful restaurant in the village only 10 minutes walk (expensive fine dining so only went once) and the local shop next door to that is well equipped. I did a half day blacksmith introduction run by the owners which was great fun. The hot tub was great as was the log burner. The cottage was cosy and private just what we wanted. We really enjoyed our stay.

An escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life , relaxation , off road parking, home from home facilities.

What a find! The perfect retreat in a wonderful location. Waking up to birdsong each morning was a joy. Lots of places to visit locally as well as great walks. The hot tub was a welcome treat at the end of the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the blacksmith course which can be accessed on-site.

We spent a lovely three nights at this property it was just what we needed to chill out, it was ideal for the dogs and a pleasant walk to the pub which was excellent

The planning searching and booking of our holiday was so easy - and then once we arrived it was exactly what we had wanted and more. Just the most amazing stay from start to finish and would definitely stay in Straw Cottage again - FANTASTIC HOLIDAY!!

Beautiful, quirky little property with very helpful hosts. Location is so peaceful and yet only a very short walk (uphill!) to the village with fantastic pub and well stocked village shop. The hot tub was absolutely perfect to come back to after walks along the stunning coastal paths. Don't hesitate - book it!

We really enjoyed our stay at Straw Cottage, the garden is lovely and quiet and our dog loved the area! Yes it is out in the sticks somewhat but that was expected from the description so no problem. We had Sunday lunch at the village pub and fish and chips from the shop both were excellent! The owners were friendly and welcoming!

We had a really lovely and relaxing stay at Straw Cottage. There was plenty to explore on our doorstep, we had wonderful trips to Clovelly, Appledore and Westward Ho! all within a short drive. The cottage itself was a delight, we had everything we needed. We enjoyed a BBQ on the terrace, a hot tub most days, and lots of cosy evenings in by the fire, particularly enjoyable with fish & chips from the local pub (the best we've had). Our spaniel thoroughly enjoyed the holiday too, especially making friends with the owner's spaniel Rusty. Thank you x

Wonderful quirky property, with all the amenities, Hot tub was clean and fantastic for relaxing in, If you visit Heartland Abbey, the food and service at the Kings Arms Heartland was great and excellent value for money.

Straw cottage was a very quirky cottage. Very private . The cottage had everything you could need. Was very clean. Loved the log burner and the hot tub after a long day sightseeing was a great bonus . A 10 min walk into the village which has a great pub fish and chip shop and a village shop. Straw cottage is enclosed in its own little private grounds which was great for our dog to play. The owners home is just at the side and was very friendly. But you don't feel overlooked. All in all a lovely place worth staying at

We had a fabulous few days at Straw Cottage. We found it easily following the directions sent in advance and felt very welcome. It is a lovely quiet location but with easy access to explore North Devon. The village was unknown to us before but is complete with a pub, store and chip shop. We highly recommend.

Made very welcome and enjoyed spending my birthday weekend at Straw cottage. We had great weather, a lovely meal at the pub, and a nice relaxing time sat outside having a bbq and star gazing in the hot tub.

The cottage was beautifully furnished, set in a quite location overlooking fields. Everything you could want from a quiet and relaxing retreat with added bonus of a hot tub from which you can listen to the birds or watch the stars. The owners are friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We normally met when we were walking our dog around the grounds and he was happy to play with the owners dog. There is a deep step to the lounge which you have to negotiate and then steps up to an amazing mezzanine hide-hole if you wish. Kitchen is small but will all the necessary equipment. Simply put a delightful and artistic retreat. Pre-book the Farmers Arms if you intend to eat there as they are busy.

We had a wonderful stay at Straw Cottage, it was just perfect for the break we needed. Inside the cottage is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and has lovely character and features. The hot tub is fantastic and the clever lighting provides a lovely atmosphere. We met the owner, David, who was very welcoming and friendly but left us to our own devices. We developed a routine of heading out for the day exploring, returning for late afternoons in the hot tub and then cosying up in front of the wood-burner - bliss! Our dog loved it too (especially the jar of treats!). We'd love to come back in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Straw Cottage.

We was really looking forward to our stay at Straw Cottage and was not dissatisfied. Everything was so comfortable especially the bed. There was nothing else we needed everything was provided! We spent a perfect week relaxing and recharging our batteries! Would definitely recommend.

What a lovely place , would definitely recommend , well thought out to give you privacy if that's what you want ,had a lovely week enjoyed the hot tub , good location , and thank you for the biscuits & eggs .

I didn't actually go due to work commitments, but my inlaws came down instead and were at pains to tell me how lovely it was - and that I would have loved it. They also gave the owners a 10/10

Perfect little retreat for a cosy holiday whatever the time of year. Bursting with beautiful details and thoughtful touches. And very dog friendly, leaving very tasty treats, and very secure place for dogs. We had a lovely time in this little nest.

This is a "quirky" (but in a good way) property and it was great to stay in something a bit different. Someone has obviously invested a lot of time and effort in producing the artistic touches which make it interesting and not run-of-the-mill. Very quiet location and dog friendly. Local pub and take-away just up the road were great and the main attractions in the area are only a short distance away so hardly any travelling to see things.

Pretty and quirky. Good value. Not good if you like a bit more luxury!

Had a lovely holiday, used the cottage as base to see this part of Devon we hadn't visited before, Lynton and Lynmouth a must visit, Village shop has excellent quality food and service without fault, village fish and chips also excellent cooked fresh whilst you wait. Best if all after days trekking around come back to straw cottage to relax in hot tub.

When we arrived the owners greeted us and gave us the information about the property and it’s features. We discovered a fault with the TV and let the owners know. By the next morning we had a brand new one waiting for us by the door! Great service lovely location. Will 100% be back

Great place, so nice and cosy. Log burner was amazing and so was the hot tub! The kitchen had all the amenities to cook they had thought of everything ! Will stay again in the future.

Straw Cottage is absolutely gorgeous, the owners have truly thought of everything. We loved the location, hot tub and the bed was super comfy and we had the best nights sleep! Thoughtful little touches from the moment you arrive, made a truly unforgettable stay- thank you so much.

What a little gem. A really delightful cottage for two. Hand-crafted in so many ways, with character and cosiness. The outside garden area was also lovely, with a hot-tub that was much enjoyed each day after walking the N Devon coast. David and Bex were the perfect hosts' to add to a very enjoyable stay at Straw Cottage. Thoroughly recommended.

Really lovely cottage, cosy with beautiful touches. Really enjoyed the hot tub and wood burner. The outside area was fabulous, though going in October we didn't get to make the most of it. Would love to go back in better weather.Beautiful setting, hot tub always ready at a lovely temperature, wood burner, garden and outdoor space, bedroom overlooking the garden and all the lovely artistic touches. Dave and Bex were also very friendly and helpful. Pub in the village 'The Farmers Arms' was excellent.

Its quite and a relaxing place to stay. Local inn for a special meal out is worth waiting for.

We really loved our stay at Straw cottage. The cottage itself is well equipped and beautifully decorated. It’s really cosy and ever so clean. The hot tub was lovely to use on the eve. The surrounding areas were lovely to go and view. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to book a stay at the cottage.

The Straw cottage is a perfect place to unwind and also delight in the North Devon UNESCO biosphere reserve . If you visit at the right time you have the chance of seeing over 15 spp of orchids at Braunton Burrows. On the coast we saw Porpoises daily including a newly born calf.
